They said that the open beta client is an older version that the close beta. The closed beta is the newer client, so why would they not have had us testing that client? It doesn't make sense to use an older build, when you've already supposedly fixed, upgraded it, and moved on.

Now they say they are taking this open beta (old) code and injecting in to the closed (new) beta code? Uh, why? That will just introduce a new crop of problems because that client isn't being stress tested.

When I read on the official forums from the game director saying there were injecting old code with bugs into the "newest" build the closed testers are using to find out what is going on with the zoning crashes and 15-30 minute zone loading times, I was like WTF!?!?!?!

I hope I'm wrong, but I'm beginning to think a launch delay could be in the cards.  Remember, in their financials statement to investors, they warned the investors based on open beta results, a launch delay could happen.

"I'll take MMO disasters for $50, Alex."

"This MMO release in 2008 lost half its player base in the first month after massive hype of non existent features"

"What is Age of Conan?" ...

"Correct, for $50, Ed2099"!

lol at Idiocracy quote. And ya, makes no sense. Why not test the newest version so it's ready for release?

"Alright boys we are releasing the new Toyota 2009 line soon! So go and test the 2007 line!"

"Why?"

"Because I feel like it."

Communism is just a red herring.

Seriously, I have been trying to figure out why this did this also. Are older builds better for stress testing servers? And if so, why? I'm not being a smart ass, I wish someone who actually knows the reasoning could tell us all why it was done this way in a way that makes sense.
