The last couple of years I have been following forums and kept myself updated on various articles around the net as WAR and AoC have been developing. Im originially a Warhammer fan (from the wfrp era in the mid 80's), but as time has gone by I have slowly moved my attention more and more from WAR over to AoC, simply beacause the game seems to have more new and exiting feautures to offer.

There is a another thing tho that has come to my attention, and that is the growing hostility towards AoC on the forums here at mmorpg.com compared to other but similar forums on the net (for example betaleaks forums). Some members at mmorpg.com forums are really hostile towards a game that isn't even out yet. Why is that? If the beta is that bad, it really should show at the betaleak forums, eh?

From what I have learned after spending some time reading feedback from betatesters I have purchaced 500 stocks in Funcom instead of upgrading my PC.. I hope that tells you something about the game that is to come.

I blame stupid people that should have been aborted instead of born. I also blame their stupid BETA REVIEWS.

This is a sad world where we live surrounded by idiots even more so then times long ago. Good bye world of intelligence.

It'd be wonderful if these idiots would actually TEST like beta was intended for and send that feedback to Funcom so the issues can be fixed instead of ranting on forums like a bunch of raving retards.

[ Played ] 2Moons, Anarchy Online, City of Heroes, City of Villains, Dark Age of Camelot, Everquest, Everquest II, Guild Wars, HellGate: London, Lord of the Rings Online, Rappelz, RF Online, Shadowbane, Star Wars Galaxies, Sword of the New World, Tabula Rasa, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, World of Warcraft, Last Chaos, Earth & Beyond, EVE Online, Holic, Seal Online, Dream Of Mirror Online, Age of Conan

Its 2 weeks from release. They aren't going to be able to fix the problems in 2 weeks.

What you see now, is what you will see in 2 weeks.

Your faith in Funcom is awesome, but the game just isn't ready for release yet.

Does it have some really cool features? Yeah, it does.

Is the gameplay fun? Sure is.

Is there more to do then just quest & grind, quest & grind? Yes there is.

So what's wrong with the game?

There are tons of clipping issues with weapons and armor.

There's a huge memory leak that makes your NPCs load slower and slower each time you zone.

The combat isn't all it's cracked up to be. I do like the idea of the combat system, but it's just not fluid. There's definitely room to clean it up and make it more efficient.

All in all, I like the game and I'm cosidering playing it at release, but I think that the game isn't going to be received well until it gets cleaned up.

So many devs have adopted the mantra that you only get one launch. I think Funcom should seriously consider that.

A quick glance at betaleak showed a bunch of threads from the most hardcore and faithful beta testers (i.e. Oldboy), that's all I saw though. Too lazy to create an account. Wtf is betaleaks anyway?

Good luck with those stocks.

And to everyone else, please go easy on Kyle, he can't be older than 13.

SCIENCE PROVES CAPS LOCK CAN CURE CANCER.

I was just about to start a thread like this, glad someone beat me to it. In my opinion, I honestly can't trust any of this nonsense going on right now... I hear way too many different things, some people saying it's god, some people saying it will be worse than vanguard. It is way too biased. The only people that seem to be posting are the ones that are frighteningly obsessed with this game or people so desperate for WAR to be good they come over here to try and spread doom and gloom... there's no way I can trust any of this information I am getting, as there seems to be nobody who can give an unbiased response.

I'm waiting for an absolutely honest review that looks at both the flaws and pros of this game. Other than KeanandGreav, other than people at this forum, or anyone that is from Funcom (because to be honest all I've been seeing from them is marketting hype to a point where they are lying about their own games abilities). I've only seen one sort of review from an actual gaming reporter, and that was from this site, but the guy doesn't really give much of an opinion, just a walkthough of what to expect.

I'm going to mostly wait for release, and judge the game by then. Of course, one way or another, one side of this debate on the success of AoC is never going to win unless it becomes a complete failure or the next WoW, which I predict neither of. First the doomsayers get the lead when the game looks like a mini-game PvP grind, but once that is cleared up goes to the fanbois. Then things like spellweaving, drunken brawling, and sieging are unsure additions to the game, so it goes back to doomsayers. Then they are confirmed to be in (at least eventually), and fanbois get the lead. And now it is OB and launch popularity. Release is either going to look good or bad, but by then we have to wait to judge from who stays and goes.

It's a never-ending process of nonsense, which has convinced me to just stay away from debates unless I see something that is completely nonsense from either sides of the debate.

Jesus is the Sun of God

i think your optimism is crazy, its always nice to ground yourself in reality sometimes. Sure I want to buy this game but i know there are going to be some things that I don't like. Also 500 stocks isn't really going to get you playing the game, how are you going to play the game on a crappy computer? Maybe you should of thought of a better way to waste your money.

Communism is just a red herring.

I'm guilty of bashing the game too, though not as harsh as some others. I think AoC is a very innovative game, but I really don't know much about it. I've looked at articles that talk about PVP, sieges, etc but I really wish they would just drop the NDA so we could ask closed beta people simple things like, how's the crafting? How are the mounts? The closed beta people must be dying to tell us what they think too, it must be hard for them to not just blurt out "Crafting is awesome!"  or other way's they feel.

I'm still on the fence. In some posts I say I would never buy AoC, in others I admit that it can be a fun game. No other game has a better 1-13 experience for me, I actually don't mind making a new character. I think a great part of this is the amount of random items you can find, you can never have enough random items in a loot list.

It's a tough call. I just wish we could ask closed beta people things that we would normally know about a game before we had to buy it.  /shrug  But in the end I'm sure my curiosity will get the better of me and on release day I'll be at gamestop picking up a copy.
