Not at all, I was actually curious on what you meant. Alot of people don't care for DAoC, I can respect that. |

Man this is total BS. I agree with the people that say Camelot is worse than it was a couple of years ago. However, its not like their doing it intentionally. Yes, mythic wants one thing from you: your money. They want to make a good game in exchange for: your money. Not a difficult concept to grasp. To say they are screwing daoc on purpose because they hate their fanbase is crap. It's not like Mark Jacobs is walking around Mythic's offices saying to himself "Hmnn, how am I going to fuck over DAOC players this quarter?" Here is the truth: too much customer input ruins the game. It ruined UO. I know there are still UO fanbois out there but know this from a beta-to-release vet: Trammel fucked up UO bigtime. Any serious vet that doesn't run around in his fully blessed phoenix armor saying how l33t he is will tell you that. Now, DAOC is suffering as well. Archers were the first to be bitched about. Archer damage took a hit, their stealth became worthless with DH and casters got a bubble. Next, the shadowzerks got bitched about because of doublefrost "and" left axe. Left axe got nerfed as a whole. Berzerkers who had a right to high damage got nerfed along with the shadowzerks. Then the buffbot problem "suddenly" was noticed. Assassins were capped on evade, yet mythic allowed buffbots to remain (more on this later.) All the pve grinding content added was complete bullshit. NOBODY except hardcore EQ nerds wanted to sit through agonizing days through master levels and artifacts. The game was FINE before ToA. However, whiners wanted a way to uneven the palying field just a bit so all characters weren't cookie cutter. Mythic did a horrible job of handling this request and chose an easy way out thinking that a grind woould tip the balance of the fields. I understand mythic's concept behind this, but it failed miserably. Add a pve grind, establishing uneven abilities of characters thereby establishing powerful characters with ML's and artifacts drawing away from player skill slightly to please the less twitch-based gamers. Big flop. By the developers' own words, Master Levels and artifacts were "minor" optional goals for post-50 people to have a slight edge over non MLed and artifact-equipped players. The devs said there would only be a minor gap between those with and without master levels and artifacts. Anyone that plays daoc now knows differently. In order to compete, you NEED these things. This makes ToA a NECESSARY upgrade for anyone who wants to continue to RVR (daoc's main attraction) without being beat around like a 40 year old drunk mother of eight. One phrase to all those who say "if everyone was equal, the game would be pointless." True. That's what character templates, sidi drops and realm abilities were for. TOA does NOT conform with the above because now, everyone's main toon has a high master level. Yes, TOA introduced more powerful items and skills. However, now that most people have a master level completed or near completed, in addition to artifact gear builds, the playing field is once again leveled. So for a short while, TOA had some toons more powerful than others. Now, DAOC is back where it started before TOA, a level playing field. TOA ended up accomplishing fuck all other than introducing a horrible level/gear grind. I guarentee you that most veterans could of done with the extra zones, mobs and drops, without all the goddamn grinding. DAOC is all about RvR plain and simple and Mythic likes to promote that fact constantly. Now about Mythic's cash grab. The only way mythic is proving that they are money-hungry is by allowing buffbots. TOA was simply a horrible mistake. it wasn't meant to be a cash grab, however, it turned into one. But, I'm pretty sure that the devs aren't losing sleep over it though. Buffbots are insane. The common arguement is "i pay more money that you, I should get more of a benefit." JESUS H. CHRIST! This is again complete bs and i hear it constantly. Just because Bobbie pays 2x as much as Johnny, doesn't mean Johnny shouldn't be beat into the ground 6 feet deep. Mythic's stance was "We can't prove buffbots are buffbots. They may be just afk clerics." Total crap. Mythic knows all it needs to know about you. They can tell who owns two accounts on the same server. They just wigh their options. If Johnny quits, Mythic still has Bobbie's extra account. They don't lose money, they simply don't make as much. Now, if mythic banned buffbots, Bobbie might walk away with both accounts. Then, mythic is suffering a blow. I can't fault mythic here, it's beyond their control. But wait, the fun doesn't stop there! Now, instead of fighting the system, Johnny and all his unbuffbotted friends cave and buy their own buffbots to compete with Bobbie and all his buffbotted friends. CHA-CHING for mythic! Now they are doubling their profits AND the playing field is once again leveled. Now bobby is grinding his teeth because he is no longer paying 2x as much per month to be better, he's paying it just to compete. There is one simple solution : remove 2 accounts allowed on one server. There are so many character slots on a server.Or, put a large rannge on buffs, maybe 5-7000. people will get over it if they actually planned on leveling other classes, even the gimped ones. This keeps the playing field leveled, keeps the accounts, makes realm spying impossible AND makes your customer base happy. Mythic doesn't give 2 shits about this though, so they are happy with your extra money. Please not, I am not anti-buff. Buffs from people playing buff characters are totally legit. You'll find that buffs are hard to come by when most healers are too busy grouping, not to mention they are non-buff specced. Hell, it might even allow for interaction for stealthers and the rest of the community. Anyways, /rant off. /rude mythic /rude you /rude god |
