On the other side, AoC is too brutal for me, I just dont like flying heads, hope you can turn that off )

lots of blood, violence, rolling heads, fatalities, and you get to see plenty of boobies. (the female chars can literally go bare top, i thought it was pretty funny)

if the average age in WoW isn't somewhere around 12 to 15 years old and instead 20+...then humanity is doomed

@ Vardar and the big mouths in this forum

How many of  you guys has completed Naxx and Black Temple or may be you are like the 90% of the player base who has never set foot in this instance because it was too hard for you?

WoW has its ups and downs people loves it or hates it ,I don`t play it anymore for obvious reasonsbut what I can stand is people talking shit.

Actually from different places I have read like gameindustry.biz and other places the average age of MMO players are late 20's early 30's.  Seeing as how wow has 3.5-4million in Europe/US and the closest contenders in the same regions only have a couple hundred thousand it's probably pretty safe to assume that the average wow player falls in those same demographics.  AoC with their M rating and the primary focus on nothing but combat and gore will probably appeal more to the 12-15 year old range you are so afraid of.

Currently Subscribed to: NOTHING, but will be playing WAR.

Well... I think it shows how long WoW has been around. Anyone know exactly how old the game is?

4 years. And to your first post, graphics in 1990 were basically 2D, maybe primitive 3D.

It's only been around 4 years? Are you sure? The graphics really do look allot older.  I'm not bashing the game I've never even played it just making an observation.

release was spring 2005. Been in open beta for 2 weeks back then but stopped playing in favor of a sandbox game. It was also the game that teached me not to play a new game at release. Its a paradox, but players can be a major disturbance in a MMO :) I am back now since 10 days or so. Looks like i ll play one char to level cap and then try AoC.

The textures are very low quality and models are low polygon in WoW. But the overall design is coherent and a true masterpiece, even compared to todays standarts. If you play it on a 2008 computer you can move all sliders in the settings to max and the game looks awesome then. The floor is not a "nacked" texture but loaded with plants and flowers and bushes almost like i have seen in the AoC screenshots. The lightnings is perfect, the snow is reflectiing light and rain leaves splatting waterdrops on the ground and on the water surfaces. Animations are smooth and nicley done.

WoW has a bad reputation for some reasons. People say its linear and childish for example. However, looking back (playing game since 85) i have to say that WoW is one of the last true fantasy games. Its not a sandbox, but offers a lot of freedom and charming little features. In Vanguard and EQ2 and AoC you can only equip certain wepaons. In WoW you can go and learn weaponskills from a trainer. It might be the trainer is far away and you have to go on a long journey and find him. For example a nightelf who uses a bow can go to the dwarfs and learn how to use a gun. Or you go to the humans and learn how to use a sword. In other games the petclasses have certain pets. In WoW a hunter is able to tame almost any wild animal that is roaming as NPC. Once tamed you can train it and level it up with you. Thats actually quite some depth compared to EQ2, Vanguard and AoC.

I am a big fan of top notch graphics. But graphics are only the framework around features. Not the goal of a game. And the whole deisgn has to be coherent. Thats the message of WoW. Have a coherent design and content and features. Then you have success. I do hope AoC will be something like that in a few months.
