I stumbled across a thread in the official forum posted by a woman, who asked why there was no male prostitute in the tutorial for female players playing female characters.

Just read the answers. Read the many, many ugly replies. Don't just read the first 5, go through all to see the MASS. Gawd, it really made me shudder. I am sure there are also decend (straight) males playing this game, but they chose the be very silent there. The very long list of what can not be called anything but sexual harrassment... great.

But one cant be surprised. Funcom ASKED for such a band of trash-people. Yeah yeah its all like in Howards books, I know. So what? We dont have 1930 we have 2008. Were 1930ies macho men fantasies of raped women and females made objects of male desire so grand? You really want that world back? Is it SO difficult to accept women as EQUAL? Great. Maybe I put too much believe in men, that they could evolve. But place them one scantly dressed woman in front and it all goes bye bye apparently. Disgusting.

Funcom asked for it. It was not necessary, but all the design choices CALLED for such human trash, and there it is, calling its own stupidity out aloud. It seems to me straight men are as dumb as I thought after all. Bah... ><

Should I go over to the WoW Forums and link the hundreds, thousands of threads that make this one seem like a civilized discussion?

Or over to the EVE-Online boards where people go at each others throats much more rabidly?

Or to any other game really?

What do you want to prove with this thread? That there will be idiots and asshats playing this game? Oh well, duh, that's nothing new, you know. *smirks*

Besides, Forums are the place where people show their ugliest sides anyway in case you haven#t noticed before. The anonymity of the Internet makes them forget about social guidelines and morals and just shows what kind of people they -really- are. That holds true for any Forum by the way.

Again, I don't know what big -news- you try to bring us here. So there will be idiots. OK, *shrug* More people to ignore or kill in game then if they behave that way towards my GF or my friends.

Then again a mod deleted 4 posts, so i assume it was worse before.

But if your judging the male race based on mmorpg.com forums. Im seriously gonna just laugh my ass of walking away.

Its not that they are againts women that they post shit in a thread like that.. its that they are forum trolls. they post shit about anything in any thread.

I know my view is not every male. But damn, SO MANY made fun of a SERIOUS comment of a woman with macho replies that she even deleted her post. It makes me so DAMN angry!

I greatly disagree. The maturity of AoC has much, much more to it then nudity, blood and booze. Just the gameplay mechanics are mature.

But seriously, once you need to pay to be able to post on the forums, 90% of the crap on their will disappear.

As well you can blame the WoW generation for thinking it's OK to act like asshats in game and on the forums. At least 80% of WoW players have never played any other MMOG so their idea of a MMOG community is WoWs community. So thats how they act. But once the game goes live and you have to be a paying customer to post on the forums, a lot of that will disappear.

Ok Elikal, enough.

First off, you seem like a nice enough guy, and I get that you have more gentile sensibilites and are not a "cave man" type person. All good.

But don't go pulling that B.S. You should know better and quite frankly if that is what you believe you (a) have larger issues at hand, (b) live in some small hick town where you have never met the hordes of gay men who act just as crassly, and (c) need to get some perspective.

Have you ever thought that the hordes of more polite men just don't hang out on those forums as they just have no use for them?

And as far as Conana goes, again, it is Conan. You say you think you know but the reality is you are in denial. The brutal world of conan doesn't make men act this way. Sorry. There are plenty of gentlemen who are interested in the Conan world for what it is. I'm pretty sure they are not catcalling women from their windows.

So, you need to either toughen up a bit or perhaps find a new game. I'm sorry that people act this way but I'm pretty sure that the general consensus is that humanity has never been acused of being overly polite. There are jerks everywhere. And quite frankly it's Funcom's fault for not policing those forums. Moderation can actually be a help.

If you want to choose to insult good straight men then quite frankly you are just as ignorant as those who condone that behavior.

It is exactly what I would expect to hear from children.  I don't worry about what sexual inuendo is found in a toy game and I doubt any adults do either, regardless there legal age.

Meh to the NPCs.  They are not real, you know?  They are just part of the game graphics.

(oh, and as far as women being equals - LOL  we blew past equality like a race car passing a homeless man pushing a shopping cart.  Take a look around.  Women in my generation earn more college degrees, enter higher professional positions and earn more money than men in their same age group.

Equal?  We will achieve equality only if you men catch back up

Elikal, I have read several of your posts. While they are interesting I think you are really going over the top with all of this AoC thing. You are always coming back with some more negativity, and now you are making yourself some social drama; I fail to see it.

For once we finally have something different from the WoW's, EQ's and Lotro's, a "new" world with some awesome lore and a "fresh" social environment. I welcome the change.

People are what they are, the world is how it is. Hiding from it won't change it. And don't forget that it's a fantasy setting.
