So my girlfriend plays this game and I drop in occassionally to horse around. The attitude of the community, especially towards new players is horrible. The Antonia Bayle server is where we chiefly play. If you try to ask a simple question, you get a smart ass comment. Just today she was grouping with some level 70's on her low level alt and they were farming the void storms. These assholes wouldn't even mentor her so she could get xp. Oddly enough they were in the guild Virtue which advertises themselves to be a new player friendly guild. it's this sort of elitist attitude that will ultimately cause players to leave. As a point of contrast, the community in City of Heroes is great. No problem finding groups, everyone is helpful. I guess you just have long time players that think this is "their" game and don't want others to piss in their cheerios. But the established community should welcome new players and help them out a little. It makes a positive impression on the game and will only keep more coming in. As it stands now the EQ2 community is a bunch of pricks.

You decide to blanket an entire community of a game estimated to have 250k of players... because of some snidey general chat answers and the actions of a couple of level 70's?

Every MMO has some assholes... just like every animal has one... You cant just put a sign up and say no ass holes allowed... ass holes generally dont think there ass holes... others like being ass holes...

EQII community from my own experience is the most grown up and helpful i have come across.. but then i played CoH for 4 hours and found no one would help me.... doesnt make the community crap... just means that in my short time i didnt meet the nice people who make up for all the ass holes we are always going to encounter...

Ok. What server do you play on with all these helpful people? What channell? What guild? I don't beleive for one second you played CoH for four hours and no one helped you. It's really funny you conveniently just happened to have played both games I meantioned, but had opposite experiences with the two. Sign on to EQ2 right now, create a new a character and ask for help. You'll be laughed off the chat. Sign on to city of heroes right now...within minutes someone will broadcast LFT. Or just ask how to get to Striga Isle. You'll get about 5 answers right away. Sign on to eq2 and ask how to get to neriak, they'll tell you to find it where it always is...your ass. What server are all these nice people on? Perhaps you can point me in their direction. Until you prove me wrong, it's dead in the water. Elitist pricks they remain.

I get the sentiment you are expressing OP and I agree. (even though some won't look deeper than the message)

On Befallen there is a prejudice against plate tanks and healers for both groups/raids.  I know it's wrong but I find myself laughing with glee when someone calls for an all plate tank raid.  Just to stiff it right back at the elitists.

I certainly don't hope this is on every server.  If it is Sony has destroyed the game through LU13 in DoF and the AAs and resist changes introduced in KoS.

I'm playing for about a week, and it does seem as if players will answer questions, but it's harder than another game to find friends. I have a 22 player on Crushbone and an11 on Antonia Boyal, can't decide what one I'll keep as my main yet. They both belong to diff. guilds and the members seem to only stick to their higher level friends in both. It's fun but very very unfriendly game, I remember it was like that a year ago also.

"You know what happened to the man that got everything he ever wanted? He had nothing to hope for."

I play on Antonia Bayle, and I've found the community to be nice and helpful for the most part ( there are asshats on every server in every game, ya know ). Just joined a nice guild there myself ( Necronomicons ). Far as not mentoring for the Voidstorms, those storms are there for the purpose of getting the notes to turn in for items, not really for the xp. Also, the void creatures spawn at the level of the one who pulls them. So obviously a low level pulling and a high level killing works really well and fast.

there are definitely some elitist raiders in this game but they were in every other mmo i played too. For those saying that they don't exist, just read the EQ2Flames forums for a bit and you will know that they exist.

But overall i made a lot more positive experiences with community here in eq2 than in most other games i played.

Lies.. lies. I am playing on Antonia Bayle and its the most mature and heavily populated server. And yes i am a noob only started playing last week. I was never laughed at in fact i am doing quests in groups since day one. Joined a guild very second day. So wtf you are spreading these rumors for?

If it happened to you doesn't mean everyone is an asshole on Antonia Bayle.
