Hey guys im having some connectivity issues with counter strike source and i was told Port Forwarding would solve all of this.  Is this true? i read up on a guide about it and it seems legit but im afraid it will expose my IP somehow and people will hack my PC.

You can go a long way with a smile. You can go a lot farther with a smile and a gun.

Im not all too sure if it would work. It might. Cuz I did port forwarding for some other things and I havent gotten hacked.  Or atleast I havent noticed being hacked yet.lol

http://portforward.com/guides.htm

are you working for nasa? no really, what do you have that is actually worth hacking? lets remember its a felony, i dont know many hackers out there that would do 5 for a bunch of porn and stuff they could get off torrents.  i dont even see how forwarding the ports could make you any more hackable (if the cia wants in they get in).  do it and dont think twice, i think like 90% of people out there have ports open and 90% of people are definitely not getting their identeties jacked.

Doubt its the ports.  My steam access has been working fine without the need to open ports.  Sometimes ISPs want to try and limit certain type of activities so they block ports, like Port 80 commonly used in games.  This is especially done in Dorms.  Chances are its your ISPs doing, so I would contact them about it.  You can even do a traceRT to find out.

Shouldn't help much.

Port Forwarding is mostly used when you "host" games. I.E. when people connect to your PC.

Also used in Peer 2 Peer environments such as BitTorrents, where people also connects to your PC.
