95% of the TV Shows I watch every season, and there are probably too many, have some sort of Supernatural, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Historic, or heavy Action Twist to them. The only "Legal" show I watch is Eli Stone for the twist and I absolutely hate Reality Shows. Therefore, I have always figured The X-Files to be a show I would greatly enjoy. I know Stephen King loved it and from his column in EW and other bits I've read about him he seems to share my tastes in everything from Movies and TV, to books and even music. One great thing about going back and watching extremely popular shows I missed when they were live, is that I know the show will be very good, won't get cancelled a season or two in, and I get to control exactly how fast or slow I can enjoy it. Thanks to netflix I can do this very cheaply and at a pretty quick pace. I was able to see all the DS9s and Voyagers in order(watched many but not nearly the majority or in any order when they were new), and even caught up with the Stargate SG1s I couldn't afford to buy on DVD as well as the Stargate Atlantis Series. Now with the 2nd X-Files movie coming out I've set a challenge for myself. I intend on watching every episode in order, the first movie, and then catching the second movie before it leaves theaters(The Good Theaters not the crappy $1 ones). I have only ever seen 1 X-Files episode before, and the first movie as well but I remember absolutely none of it. It looks like I have to get through about 52 DVDs with an average of 4 episodes a piece for a total of 202 episodes before the movie leaves theaters. It releases on the 25th of July so I figure I have until the end of August if it does well enough to get through the episodes and first movie. I received Season 1 Disc 1 today and already watch the 4 episodes but I may not be able to match that every night, and even if I could that would be cutting it close. On top of that, I can't be sure Netflix would be able to keep up with me with on the 2-at-a-time-plan. I am considering dropping my AoC Subscription and upping my Netflix to 5-at-a-time. Anywho, just bragging about getting to watch the entire Series for the first time and the challenge I have set for myself. I'll let you all know how it turns out. Also wanted to comment on what makes for good TV, and push Netflix for those looking to catch up on never seen TV-Shows. Oh, and I like what I have seen so far with the 4 episodes. Each episode hooks you, but the pace is a little slow and some of the episodes seemed a little chaotic in how they were put together. But still good stuff, and I figure it'll only get better. |

All that is needed for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. |
X-files was brilliant TV. It was intelligent, at times funny, and just overall enjoyable. 9 seasons...and it just wasn't enough! P.S. I agree about doggett. The actor wasn't bad, the character wasn't bad, it just wasn't mulder. Seasons 1-5 were the best. |
