I hear the usual DEV hype about "totally skill based" "no level system" and i can't help but wonder, what exactly do you do to prepare your player for battle? It seems to me this game is mainly PVP?I am VERY skeptical of any system of PVP that allows all out PVP,because they used the term "SKILL BASED"yet ganking someone that is far inferior to yourself,is far from being skillful.

Does the combat system allow anyone to kill anyone?i mean it's going to be free for all,how does the combat system gain respect, over the many PVP games out there that offer nothing to REAL skill.

I really thought his game was dead,so i never really paid any attention to it,but watching the videos sure makes the game look intriguing on paper anyhow. This is why i am asking abpout it's PVP,as really i am a PVE type player in MMO's because they NEVER build PVP properly.I use first person shooters for PVP,so what is this game going to do to make it's PVP fair, and not something that is time in = reward.

If you kill someone without a reason I.E just for sports. You get wanted at the towns and labeled outlaw. That's the major hit you get when you attack someone. You can kill people in a enemy guild if you two have started a war.

Skillbased is like uh, if i have 40 in swordsmanskill and you have 100, yuo'll hit way harder than me, but i can still win due to that im a better pvper, thus. Skills from you as a player will do change alot in how a fight will end. It's a FFA mayhem, fully lootable corpses and all of those goodies. No carebear factor here :-p

Killing members of your own or a friendly race will give you an alignment penalty. If your alignment goes negative you go criminal and cannot bind to normal spawn points, NPC's will refuse to serve you and killing you will give people an alignment boost, even if they are of the same race.

It's fps style with no sticky targetting which automatically makes it more skill based in my eyes.

I would expect the PvP system to be very similar to UO (when it started). You can kill or grief anyone, but this will lead to issues with NPC's.  This game is a totally open PvP sytem, so expect some players to use this to thier advantage.

How so?

P.S.: This is not a flame, this is an honest question. I have heard many people say the same, and I have heard others say different things and I have my own opinion, which is different, but I would like to understand and perhaps compare thoughts on this.

Then you have more moveability and less spamming skills. It's like playing Oblivion really, you can beat those nasty end-game monsters if yuo are patient enough :p

Because it takes some hand to eye coordination to actually hit things rather than having the heat seeking fireballs ect found in conventional mmo's.

If you sit there hitting F3 whilst watching the TV you won't hit shit.

How do you have a better ability to move? I am assuming it is the same basic controls any MMO uses (WASD). As for spamming skills, I have been told repeatedly and experienced myself that skill-spammers get beaten with easy by people who use their skills intelligently and according to the situation. Which requires thinking and the ability to react to changing situations, which, I would say, requires skill.
