Some computers are easy to assemble, depends on the tower you have, if you have a tower based on overclocking or some other fancy shit, might be a struggle to get everything placed right and having room for your cable's :p

You would be looking for Lineage II then , it has death penalties, etc.

I wouldn't pay 80$ just to get into Open Beta , which btw isnt guarenteed for none of you unless you buy that CE since the Open Beta is still based on your "applications" and not just click , get key , download and install.

And War is no more like a WoW clone, other than that i can't comment on anything else since i'd be breaking the NDA :p

Lmao anyhow.

I play FPS games my self but a very few of them online, i own BF2 and CoD4 as original copies.

Rest of the games is more made for singleplayer with a storyline you can sit down and play when you dont feel like playing anything else and you have the time to do it, f.x Assassins Creed is comming out for PC here in april , so its GTA 4,  both singleplayer games with a good storyline.

Havent touched CS my self since 2002 since there went to much emo in the game

I like FPS games well enough, but I don't see where someone who excells in them somehow knows jack about MMOs. I agree that they're just talking out of their hind portions. Many people want to sound the "been there and done that" horn even when they're mostly clueless. I suppose the guys you're talking about are like that.

Yea thats some of them , and some of them played in the Nihilum EU wow guild , i know a couple of them were "pro" cs gamers before this and all they had in mind 24/7 was CS practice and now they think their the master of all trades in MMO's , right okay.
That kinda arrogance i despise, but again thats what you can expect from such people.

I think I'd rather deal with the idiots that think they know everything, then the moron that screams "I need gold, give me gold, gold! gold!" At least the ignorant jackoff you can tell to shut up and they at some point will do it. But the moron screaming gold seems to have no effect to insults or shutting the hell up.

One reason i quit playing WoW ;) , simply to many immature people playing it, couldnt turn a corner in that game without meeting 10 pricks :)

While I've been playing single player based RPG's since the early 80s, I'm a relative newcomer to MMO's, with Lineage 1/DAOC being my first games (but I caught up quick with like 10 more since).

Yet, I can't claim to be elite, I'm the eternal noob, usually only understanding about 3/4 of what a game involves.  I never learn it all, just don't have the time or desire to study them that hard.

Arrogance really suits no one in the gaming world, but its far to easy to get away with it unfortunately.

It is , unless you play a Open Pvp game like Lineage ;) , then someone will be around to shut you up :)

I have a perma red 70+ spellhowler who is more than happy to shut up thoose arrogant people i meet ingame ;)

And i wouldnt advise anyone here to run Vista , no matter how good your computer is , im running Core 2 Duo 3Ghz , 4gb memory DDRII pc6400  , 8800 GTS XFX Alpha Dog ( 512 ) Version

And vista is no where ready to able to compete with xp when it comes to the smoothness of be able to game properly without having vista fuckup anything.

All i heard is that their recent patch made some things worse and didnt fix anything.

im just so tired of hearing people say this once they see a video or a screenshot of AOC, these people see Nvidia release a $600 video card and ASSUME you HAVE to have that card to run anything

i blame Crysis personally as that game is coded like crap and my proof is games like COD4 and UT3 that run 60+ fps on a WIDE range of PC's without even a hiccup, but NOBODY ever talks about those games and how well they run...just Crysis and how BAD it runs...sigh...but im getting off subject :)

on a 19 inch flat panel this PC will run all current games with HIGH or better settings except for Crysis ;)

and no offense if you cant afford what i speced below you arent truly a PC gamer...nothing wrong with that, its not for everyone.. but PC gaming is just more expensive but its NOT as bad as people always claim

total price $531.92 + shipping

prices from newegg.com

2 gigs of memory $36.99

9600 GT $154.99 (its scary how close this card performs to my 8800GTS i bought for $380)

2.2 ghz duo core 2 processor $119

LGA 775 motherboard $32.99

575w power suppy $24.99  (i would acutally spend more for this but if you want low price)

120g harddrive $44.99 (go as high as you can afford if you want)

asus DVD drive $11.99

Raidmax ATX case $19.98

Windows XP system builders Disc $85.99

Well all in all its an ok rig but i would never use that GFX even if you paid me for it.

NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT -  20.8 billion texture fill rate. -  57.6 GB/s maximum memory bandwith

Now here comes the 8800 GTS 512mb version which runs on a new chipset that makes is better by  5 billion texture fill rate ( per second ) which is what makes speed of the gfx :)

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 (512 mb version )GTS 41.6 billion Texture fill rate p/s 62.1 GB/s maximum memory bandwith. this baby runs on a newer chipset than the 8800 GTX / Ultra's which makes it able to compete with them and it costs half that :) , costs something like 350$.

I guess it depends on which sort of School we're talking about: MMO's and their ancestors, computer games, or video games in general.

The first MMO I played was EQ1 not long after the Velious expansion came out, so I was hardly part of the original MMO crowd. But if you're talking its ancestors: MU*s (MUDs, MUSHes, and the like), then I started with those in 1994, playing Midnight Sun MUD and then AmberMUSH. In fact, I was late to the MMO table *because* I was still playing a MUSH (Elendor) when they started to become popular.

For computer games: I remember Oregon Trail when it came out on the Apple II+, and before that, playing some horrible games on C-64, Vic-20, and before that on a P.E.T. at school.

Video games... heh. I played the TV tennis/hockey/whatever game on my next-door neighbor's TV, complete with paddles and switches that changed the game from "tennis" to "hockey". I played Space Invaders, and a bit later Asteriods, Sea Wolf, Warzone, Galaxian, etc. I just happened to be born at the right time to start at the beginning when I was myself just starting.

So, yeah, I consider myself as old-school as you can get. I consider myself part of a certain crowd of people, not as somehow individually special because I happened to be born at the right time. I've watched things evolve from the beginning, right at the dawn of the personal computer.

No, I don't think that people nowadays, who are relatively new to gaming, can really relate to what things were like back then. It was a different era, and eventually the same will be said about the way things are now, too. That's how life is. I don't think of it as exculsionary, but rather just part of life, and not something to get upset about.

Well lets put it in another view, remember when WoW launched , it had a bunch of fps gamers roll over and start playing MMO games as their primary , thoose are some of the people that think they are the bomb diggity and know everything about MMO's , see thoose FPS gamers can go back to the hole they came from that they crawled out of in 05 ;)

Seriously.  Gamers who've played since WoW but think they know everything there is to know about the industry.  Act like they've played all the games that have ever came out because they logged in once 8 years after the game went gold.

You weren't there when it came out; therefore, please STFU about game mechanics you've never experienced.

Housing is NOT a hardcore only activity.

Raiding is NOT a hardcore only activity.

Crafting as a profession is NOT a hardcore activity.

Developers are making multiplayer versions of single player games and calling them MMOs because that's what the new gamers want; NOT because it's what is casual friendly.

If you weren't there to play within at least the first six months of a game, just STFU, sit back, and let the old schoolers discuss old school sh**.  Don't talk like you've played it when it was prime.  Cause we all know you didn't.

See thats why i liked to play lineage 2 from the start , open pvp is win in theese situation when you have some smartass , then find him in the game and shut him up ;)

but yea players like that give me a headache, pathological liars , sigh. i started my self back in the early days of gaming so i feel you on that subject.

Specially when it came to SWG and CU / NGE and people arrived to the game and they think their "all that" i mean come on you dont know shit kiddo you werent here.

Z, I have nothing against you, it's actually a good thing to see more F2P publishers pop up but honestly, Secret Online sucks, I played the Chinese version.

Sub par graphics, only 3 classes so far (2 still in development), that's 5 at most, still pretty weak. Warrior, Assassin, Wizard, Hunter, Shaman. That's really generic. Brings absolutely nothing new to the genre. And when I look at the class descriptions, I can imagine how horrible the game's english translation will be.

http://secret.zyongames.com/Characters.php

Shaman
Good at using drugs and craft, and women mainly.

Hunter
Born of hunting, Hunters adventure in the jungle and ancient monuments. Extremely harsh environment enable hunters with an extremely sharp sense. Hunter is a bow and arrow master

Ofc it "sucks" a F2P game will allways lack something only P2P games can bring, more dedicated staff with more experience and better at programming / evolving the game their working on.

1. Population balance issues - This happened in WoW and utterly ruined open PvP on many servers.

2. Server jumping - Once it's evident that a certain realm is at a disadvantage (either population or skill wise), people will change servers and join the more powerful realm there.

I can easily see realms quickly becoming out of balance and RvR falling apart. Does anyone know if there are going to be safeguards in place to prevent these issues from occurring? If not, I doubt I'll even bother playing WAR.

Why do you comment on something you know nothing about ? , play the game before you comment on anything.

Getting top level in this game without paying your way to it through farmers to power lvl you , i'd say its going to take you a good while , i can't even put a timeframe on it , i kinda game up at lvl 70 with 2 characters, simply couldnt be arsed to do the grinding anymore.

But hey well Lineage 2 is good for a while till you get bored of it , but so is every other game

Can't really say that even with new management structure, Smedley needs to go before anything happens, i'd be more than happy to see him drive off a cliff , i wouldn't shed a tear :p
