I will try to be as unbiased as I can.

Age of Conan brings a much refreshing change to the MMO genre, it has many features that we miss and have been long sought for.   Personally it brings the old feel of Golden Axe meets Ultima Online with a splash of Dark Ages of Camelot , last but least a sprinkle of World of Warcraft.

My girlfriend and I are playing Tempest of Set - Conqueror combo respectively, our journey thus far has been super-calla-fraja-listic-expe-alla-doe-shiss! He said what!? It is, simply put... great!

Our journey started on the shores of Tortage.  It wasn't long after we made our way through the jungle to the city where we could finally meet up.

The quest's felt very intuitive and had lot's of player interaction which made emersion A+.  I was asorbed into the world of Hyboria without a doubt.  I think my phone rang a hundred times and never heard it once.

Group interface is adequate and has some neat features: One that stood out most was the summon group members to you.  This is a great feature and I expect it to save much wasted time.

The items we were looting were standard and had great variety.  We all looked different which made the setting that much more epic. Also many versions of the same item but with different stats which made it feel Starwars Galaxies loot'ish.

The combat system will take time to master but we had a great feel for it by the time we hit Tortage.

We finally met our friends, a Necromancer, a Ranger, and a Guardian. We grouped up and set out to White Sands Isle. We attempted it on Epic and did well till... I stress "till". Other players arrived on the Isle and promptly ganked us.

We gathered our composure when we realized this is how it was gonna be.  We then strategically began to rape and pillage the area of all other players. We worked as a unit and believe the unit is strongest.  We follow this philosophy in all our MMO's and have done extremely well at the end of the day.

We continued to quest till our eyes were heavy and ended our evening in Tortage... I will keep you all posted as this is going to be my daily play journal.

No lag all night everything ran amazing fast, it was smooth overall. We have two brand new custom desinged and built PC's curtosey of moi! =)

Well, two days into the game and i already canceled my subscription. Was what I thought it would be. A $50 lesson to be sure. But it was only $50, no biggie. I still go in for 12 hours of overtime and make a extra $450 tonight.

I'll try to finish my month here and there in between other games I play. Maybe in a few months I'll reactivate it to see if I can find any renewed hope in it.

This was the shortest live MMO I have ever play. I have played almost every major MMO out there too.

Obligatory, can I have your stuff?

Lol, all the wow fanbois act like WoW launched with 8 million people. It took them 3 years to hit that mark, give AoC time and the fears will become a reality.

I have three WoW Accounts and played since release.   I cancelled all of my account's which I left behind years of raiding work.  That is all I got to say.

After playing conan then looking at wow again it blows in comparison.  WoW seems like it is for candy ass faggots now that I see both side by side.

I love AoC it feels like DAoC, UO, and SWG all in one it is just simply amazing.

What's one person doing with 3 (paying) subscription accounts ?

Oh I see it sounds heavier if you say 3 instead of one.

See you in WotLK.

Maybe he's actually telling the truth. Maybe take a leaf out of his book and come back.

Because his earlier posts, even up to a full year ago; he says exactly the same things...

....the problem is you can only leave a game once (with or without 3 subscriptions). :)))

The only difference from this post and a  year ago it was : ....Tabula Rasa he would be leaving for.

The next BIGGEST thing that would kill. Yep

I see ....what's  next? Warhammer, if he continues like that ...

... that would mean he already left 9(!) subscription behind.

Wow,.... :))

PRE-NGE I had 12 SWG subscriptions active and playing them all on one super computer.  I wouldn't dare to count all my subscriptions in total for every mmo, i'd puke.

Alright. If you like WoW, play WoW. If you like AoC, play AoC. If you like HKIA-O (Hello Kitty Island Adventures Online), play HKIA-O.

I don't understand why it matters if someone prefers another game than you do. I played WoW for year, peaked, got bored and quit. Went through all sorts of MMOs that are already out and didn't really get too involved with any of them, although EQ2 was pretty fun. AoC came around, I gave it a shot and now I call Hyboria home.

Does this make WoW players suck? Nope.

Does this make me better? Nope.

For everyone complaining about the issues, I'm going to try to give some FACTUAL information based on my experiences so that the people debating on trying the game will have something to go on.

Load times: Yes, you have a loading screen between any instances and going in/out of a building. On my computer, it's only a few seconds. I would assume on a lower end PC it could take 30sec-1min. If this will bother you, you may not be happy playing. If you can deal with it for the graphics, you should be okay.

Performance: You need a decent computer to run at low settings (which don't look too bad to me). Yes, you do need an uber computer, but only if you want the uber graphics settings. With shadows and AA off and the view distance turned down on low settings, you will be alright on a mid range machine.

Combat: Press a lot of buttons instead of spamming one or two over and over. It adds a level of skill, but nothing earth shattering. I enjoy it because I actually have to do a little more than I would in other MMOs. I always hated running instances in WoW on my hunter because on only ever had to push 2 or 3 buttons, got boring quick. With this system combined with shields you can't go in with a set rotation and it makes you pay attention.

All the bug/glitch/problem issues: It is a brand new game. I'd say they're doing good for a game this early in the game. We'll see what happens

PvP Camping: They've added a big damage shield that will pretty much one shot anyone who hits you while you're still loading.

Again. To each their own. If you still love WoW, go raid Kara/Gruuls/BT/TK or whatever you want to do and have fun. If you like AoC, I'll see you in Hyboria. If you're not sure, come give it a shot when buddy keys come back, hell I 'll hand out my 5 if you want. After you try it, if you like it, stay, if not, well good luck finding your spot.

If anyone has questions about AoC, I can try to help you out from what I've seen so far.

Well written

On the 10th of May Funcom is transforming the entire Open Beta into PvP MAYHEM, while at the same time giving testers access to all which Hyboria has to offer!

Here's the whole information going out to Open Beta testers:

Quote: Dear Age of Conan beta tester

We hope you are merrily chopping off Pict heads in the Age of Conan Open Beta, and that your journey in Hyboria has been a memorable one so far. You have only seen the beginning though, as we prepare an EPIC ending to your Open Beta experience.

On the 10th of May we are transforming the entire Open Beta into PvP MAYHEM, while at the same time giving you access to all which Hyboria has to offer! That is right, as we take down our servers for a short period we are at the same time changing the entire server rule-set to Free For All PvP carnage! Your servers will ALL become PvP! Participate if you dare, or make a new character and stay in the safety of Tortage!

Details:

All servers become PvP servers. You can kill each other – no level restrictions on killing or getting killed, but you cannot PvP in the major cities.

All level 13 characters becomes level 20. Their inventory is wiped, but they have “tons” of money and really nice equipment suitable for level 20’s. Shopping bonanza!

You have access to ALL zones and ALL levels after level 20! You will be zoned to your Race’s Hub. (Cimmerians – Conarch Village, Aquillonians – Old Tarantia and Stygians – Khemi!

This means bye bye Tortage! Welcome Hyboria at large, and what a blast you will have. It all starts at level 20, and then it’s up to you, but you can be sure your fellow players will do their best to stop you!

We will get back with detailed information on the exact time it starts on the official Open Beta forums at IGN, as well as on the Age of Conan forums and community site.

You may ask, why skip levels 14-20? The reason is simple – the story. We take it seriously, and we would like for you to experience it at launch.

We urge you to join us for some epic PvP mayhem on the 10th of May, and we hope you will leave Hyboria with a bloodied smile on your face.

Heads will roll!

Sincerely

The Age of Conan development team

No, you cannot till the servers are started May 1st, they changed how it works.

First off, im not trying to hate on SWG at all, past and present form.  I simple just want to know what made star wars galaxies such a great came back in the day before the CU and NGE.  I played the trial for 2 weeks a couple of months after it was released but i didn't get a good feel for the game.  So please, explain to me what the old SWG was like.

I'll sum this up easily, 32 professions and use to be skill based.
