I think we are entering a period of sci-fi / alternative MMOs very shortly and a Planetside 2 or similar will be on the cards eventually.

Perhaps in concept but I am nearly 100% sure that SOE will take no part in making it.  Huxley looks promising though.

Nathan has a point. It is all about how much you want to tolerate in your product. If you can have a blind eye to these things then by all means enjoy your game.

Unfortunately it really seems to me funcom focused so much on making a good combat system and a decent intoductory experience, they hoped it would be enough to keep you while they patch up the rest down the road. They problably couldn't wait any longer revenue wise so they gave us a decent overall experience for first half of the game.

Should we expect this of all MMOs?

What has me jaded is that FunCom promised SO much and we had delays and delays all inthe name of revamping the combat system and polish. I feel like a sucker. I mean - the drinking cape, a promotional item for preodering, doesn't even work??? Drunken brawling not in game?

I can understand bugs in isolated areas, remote quests maybe not functioning, lag spikes in cities now and then. That I will tolerate for many months.

What will you all tolerate to keep sending in your $15/ month?

Agree on everything.

And to answer your question I think it will probably depend on the rate in which all of these promised things are put out.  I've always wanted to go back to Planetside.

From level 1-40 was nice, questing wise that is,the combat was good and also the story lines,But my god after 40 and for sure after 50 the questing was terrible even the story lines took a dive, like I said before the atmosphere in game is almost none excistent and the bugs just get so much worse,Yes I know they have said they will release a new"level 55-60 zone in the summer"we will wait and see if that happens.

Atm I see this game as a run of the mill mmo with nice graphics and some promise but ppl wondering if they should play ....nope give it some time to move on ...and move on quite a bit,so many things dont work like crafting, quests, zone's not loading and never mind end game there isnt much to do mid level game.

Could not agree with you more and I really didn't mean to give off that vibe.  Siege warfare is probably FUBAR along with many other aspects of the game.  I'm 64 and I guess it isn't that bad for me.  It's all about resilience I guess?

After getting to number 5 i stopped reading.  Those are 30-40s quests.  Give the game more of a chance.  When you get to 60 or 70 I'll give you more room to talk.

Why, so I could go exploit the totem quest like everyone else is doing?

And I only made it to level 56. I don't have time to play all day, although I really wish I did. I could have never made it to 60's or 70's anyways, the constant bugs would have killed me long before then.

Exactly my point, you have no room to talk.

The exploits are fixed by the way.  And if you haven't heard, there are more people complaining about how harsh FC is punishing exploiters than people complaining about the existence of them.

Oh ok, I have no room to talk. Guess what genius - I bought the game, played the game so I do have room to talk. Don't get bent out of shape because everything I posted is true. If you like the game that's great, but saying I have no room to talk just shows how completely ignorant you are.

I'm really not bent out of shape and I really didn't intend to make anyone like that.  I wasn't hinting that I play all day, I wasn't hinting that I'm better than you just because I've been through more of the game, I was merely trying to find a more logical reason as to why you think this game is so horrible.  I went back and I read the rest of your points and you made some really good arguments.  It does boil down to preference though.  But please don't for a second think that "everything" you posted was true.

Hmm, not really sure I could agree with your comment, why should a player have to wait till max level to mention bugs in a game? That doesnt make sense to me at all.

Understood but he hasn't been through half of the game it seems.

I see why that crook Obama is about to get elected, people are easily fooled.

If BFRs were the reason for the mass exodus from PS, then many of those same people should have returned once BFRs were nerfed to being useless.   Same with armor, its not useless.    All so some wanna-be-rambos can continue to foot zerg everything.

Much better foot zerg games can be had in the CoD, CS, or BF series.   Planetside's strength was its armor and the BFR.    Seems 'BFR's worked just fine in BF2142 and in many ways the BF robots are more powerful than the BFR was in PS.

Guess most of the PS community lacked the skill to handle anything outside a foot zerg or ganking defenseless foot zergers from the air.     I miss Planetside a bit, but the community mostly sucked.

I agree with nearly everything you say besides the comparison to CS and BF.  This is considered an MMO, they are not, therefore they should be on completely different scales.

Sadly Ravanos is right.

SoE had other games that were producing more of an income like EQ1 and SWG so they decided to build on them.  The playerbase for PS has been dwindling so the staff probably gets smaller and smaller.

Take a look at Huxley though, I hear it will be similar.

Not really much we can do about all of them.  We just have to constantly filter out all of their crap.

Sorry to see you go.

1. Performance issues. People who thought they could run the game can't run it, or run it well. Zone crashes, frequent downtimes, over-camped grinding areas, the lack of content post 50.

Meh, I run it at max settings with 40 FPS so no comment.

2. The 1% of the population ruining the game for everyone else. The exploiters, dupers, cheaters, etc. These same people who are getting classes nerfed for finding ways to abuse skill sets.

I think this is an exaggeration.  I know my entire guild, which is composed of only 100 people, doesn't really care.  I play this game because its fun, the only people I get mad at sometimes are the ones that camp me after they gank me, but I picked a PvP server so I earned it.

3. People are finally getting what we wanted; a no-tolerance policy for hacking/cheating/exploiting. The problem with this is that Funcom is so serious about it, that even legitimate players are getting caught up in the crossfire.

To ensure the stability of the game and its economy, all potential exploiters must be neutralized.  Funcom has said that innocent people will get banned until their staff has investigated it all.  I don't like it either but its understandable.

4. Class imbalances. People are angry that their class simply can NOT win against every other class. (I happen to love the fact that the game is not perfectly harmonized; there's no reason a group of 3 priests should be losing to 3 melees who aren't focus-firing while there are 5 HoT's on each priest)

No comment, only played 2 classes.

5. Missing features. Cities are buggy, crafting is not very effective, and traders are still FUBAR

Traders are constantly getting fixed.  Cities aren't that buggy from my experience, and if they are, its stupid stuff like walking through a staircase instead of up it.  Crafting isn't effective because the majority of the players are under 40.

6. Ganking. If you're on a PvP server, chances are you're getting weary of the endless spawn-camping, and guilds like the Hordes of Goonheim.

There are multiple instances of the zones, I guarantee you that if you just switch instances, the gankers will be gone.  Maybe you'll have to do it twice, or god forbid, thrice.

7. Weak item drops. Some of the same items that dropped at level 30 are still floating around at 60 (i.e., Pict Headband). On top of that, there are legitimately only a few randomly dropped blues, period (Challenger's Girdle, Challenger's Boots)

Do more quests?!?!

8. Repetitive quest rewards. The exp is alright, but items seem to focus only on specific things throughout the whole game (-1% hate modifier, +health, + mana, +0.x% invulnerability, + hiding, + perception usually)

Repetitive pertaining to the stats perhaps, but not the actual pieces of equipment.  Those are the important stats anyways.

9. Broken quests. Possibly the most irritating thing in the game, the quests that have been broken, and still are broken weeks after release (I.e. The Thief)

I have done over 300 quests according to my book and I only recall deleting 2 or 3 due to a bug.  Thats a mere 1%, not that bad.

10. Horrible customer service. Nothing like having a problem, and being queued for several hours, to several days.

No comment, I have only sent in an e-mail about a petty account issue, but it did take them 6 days :P

That's my opinion on what people hate about this game. Look about right?

:[  Customer service is the only legitimate thing I see on here.

khartman2005: Funcom has the logs of those that exploited, I am sure you and the rest of your guild were exploiting and now your paying the price. I hate cheaters with a passion and am glad you and your kind are being dealt with.

vingvega: Good, we don't need you exploiters in the game.....bye bye now!

Riho06: I've been around awhile and I can say a vast majority of people who get banned deserve their punishment, the numbers just don't lie. Sorry Mr. OP.

-----------------------------------------------------------

I refuse to play with people like this.

I'm sorry to hear that 3 immature people keep you from playing a decent game.

You seem to be a more-mature poster though so there was no sarcasm in saying I was sorry.

The bug is fixed, it's not like they are gold farmers continuing to sell gold on ebay or anything.

That's kind of the definition of exploiting right there and that is against the ToS. Exploiting IS using in game mechanics for purposes other than their intended use for gain.

Agreed.

I vote people actually use the search function and that they do a little research before they plague the forums (here and at Funcom.com) with a question that has been asked hundreds upon hundreds of times.
