but yeah, Gamers are sometimes the industries worse enemy sadly... :(
It'll last. I don't play any subscription games at the moment and don't plan to play any MMO's in the future, until the industry does change. And for these past few months I've contented myself with all my old first person shooters. And Oblivion, of course. Although I am waiting for Spore and Fallout 3. |

The gaming industry is very fickle and its a shame that we, the gamers, are our own worst enemy.
We want new groundbreaking games, but do we buy them? No. Well maybe, but if we do, do we continue to support them? Of course not.
But, on the bright side, I have been WoW free for 6 months now |

I concur. Which is why I made

I have been thinking about the design of such a game, but there is one major problem, and by major I mean one that I don't think could be over come.
The problem with Harry Potter, is that it is a story, that encompases huge amounts of time, places, and scenarios. The reason fans of Harry Potter like Harry Potter is well, the story that is being told, obviously. I could go on and on but then no one would read it.
The first thing that came to my mind was, well, why not have every player go through their 7 years at Hogwarts? But, who is going to play a game for 7 years? Make the time shorter. What are you going to do after you're out? Make the game just in the universe of Harry Potter, and you can simple do what you want. How about a game set during Voldomorts first rise to power? Or how about it after he has been defeated?
What will the skill system be like? Of course if you had school years, that would definatly make it easier. Each year you get more skills and so on. But at year 6-7 everyone is just going to be spamming Avada Kedavra right? Well maybe not if you just make it usable on NPC's, but then everyone in the game would be on the same side and I know people will want to play Death Eaters.
Another thought would have everyone always be in school and for fights or whatever have them compete in duel tournaments. But then that game would be so limited and narrow no one would want to play it. With todays gaming mood, it has to be open world of die.
I feel that this MMO can't not be done at all, until someone invents a new generation of MMOs. It has to be something that hasn't been done before, but I doubt any company would want ot take that kind of risk with that much money to try and figure out a whole new science of gaming.
Maybe I am just a little bit |

Well, my favorite progessions in MMO are both SOE games.
Star Wars Galaxies professions when it was first released. You could be 5 or 6 professions at once.
And Planetside. This is how MMO skills should be. Not based on levels, but on unlocks for playing the game a certain amount of time/achievements.
EvEOnlines skill progression system is ok, but the real time training kind of sucks if you like to get in and progress quickly. |

We need love.
Seriously though, I played stoned a lot. I played WoW for 3 years. Thats why it s so succesful. You can play totally trashed and still clear BT on a weekly basis. Then I can waste flasks in battlegrounds and get my kills way up there, all white smoking some Cali Kush. Mhhm. Any game where you can do that, is a great game. |

The only reason I have kept on playing WoW for the past year and a half is the PvP, which really blows, but, I have so many friends there. It's more of a social game. I do it out of boredom more than I do it because I enjoy it. Which I don't really enjoy the game at all. Just my friends. Every other MMO I have played, its been hard to get a good community of friends to play with. It seemed like in EQ2 I could run a dungeon and never see the same people again.
I think there will be so many people try WAR that this wont happen. Anyway, as soon as it launches I am signing up a 6 month sub just so I can't leave. I have read almost everyting about the game from the official website, Warhammer Allinace, and TTH, that from what I am reading and watching in vid's i wouldnt want to leave anyway. I just hope the World RvR > Scenarios. |

I will be giving WAR at least a 3 month subscription to give it the shadow of the doubt. No games are perfect at the start so I think 3 months is plenty of time to get most of the main launch bugs out. I just hope other people are willing to stick to it that long, because most people I know play it for 2 weeks then go back to WoW because they "think" its better because it don't have those bugs. |

Ok, take this for example. Got it from Ten Ton Hammer
Fighting the Zealot The best way to deal with a zealot is by disrupting the complex network of interconnected effects and abilities which can make him so powerful. There are several ways to do this, the most obvious being the use of magic which helps protect you from his Harbingers or strips Marks from his allies. Alternatively, you might wish to attack the Zealot as a priority, but he is hardly the soft target that he might appear to be. You must weigh this option against the possibility that his allies will gain a critical edge while you attempt to eliminate the Zealot himself. |

The game of WoW doesn't attract me at all. The only thing that attracts me about WoW is my friends. But now, that ins't even strong enough to pull me back to that game.
All I can say is, the best games aren't MMO's. I think WoW burned me out on the genre. |

Heh. Goes to show what kind of morons run our censorship in the US. Why does it even matter what the ESRB says. I mean what you just stated ^ "Land of the free" Oh well I just I can just blame Bush for mistaking the Constitution for toilet paper.
Censorship is for the weak. If it says 18+ or M or w/e, then they should be able to put whatever they want in it, even if its Dana Kirkpatrick's beaver. After all, they did warn us didn't they? They are supposed to check kiddies ID's aren't they? Maybe its time I move "elsewhere" in Europe.
And to think, I wrote all that because I won't get to see nipples. WHATS THE DEAL? EVERYONE HAS A PAIR 6-12 INCHES FROM THEIR FACE, DEPENDING ON HOW FAR THEY SAG!

Any word on the type of PvE its going to have? Are the "dungeons" going to be insteanced (like WoW) or open (like EQ2) or are they even going to have dungeons at all ( crazy I know). I havent been able to find hardly any literature right now, and if anyone else has please let me know.
Personally I am hoping they're more like EQ2, because WoW instances are sooo cookie cutter. By that I mean you have to have 5 people every single time with the same cookie cutter makeups (1 tank 3 dps 1 healer). In EQ2 you can run with almost any combination, or even with just 2 or 3 players instead of a full 6 in a group every single time. A lot more flexibility that way.
Anyway hope this wasn't a hijack. Thought it was fitting for the whole lot of pve thing.
