Very Hard to believe. Feels like everyone will be playing Destruction side.

1st: almost every kid likes Dark Elves, feels like it will be 40% of elves, 40% of Chaos and other Greenskins on one side.

2nd: try searching on web, almost on every site you can find polls and in those polls 1st place is Chaos or DE, last ones are Empire, Dwarfs and HE.

3rd:  in Warhammer Tabletop ver. very popular armies are Beasts of Chaos, DE or Hordes of Chaos (not talking about Vampire Counts). Skaven popular too btw.

I know a few kids that play WoW. Guess what race they play? This is obvious.

Don't you remember these forums when WoW was about to come out? It was the same deal saying horde was going to be over populated.

Those polls mean pretty much nothing, because there is only a minority of the potential gaming population following WAR on forums right now. Now, maybe if you polled every single beta applicant, and collected that data somewhere, then you could tote that around saying, "see, look here". But, to say that those polls(which the same people could be the population being polled on every site) are accurate is very incorrect.

TT-Didn't you read the post above you with all the green? Probably should check that out and see that dwarf/empire are very very popular armies too

Forgive the ignorance of this question, but aren't the classes in WAR quite a bit different on each side of the conflict? In other words, only the side of Order has Bright Wizards?  If that's the case, people may be more drawn to the class they want to play, and not the realm. (I know thats how I'm likely to chose which side to play, my son wants to be a BW)

WOW had the same classes on both sides of the fight except for Pallys and Shamans when it first started, and I know many people chose alliance or horde just on that basis.  My entire guild went Alliance because our GM wanted to be a Pally, when many of us wanted to play on the Horde side.

Yes, they are technically different classes, but the same architypes. Also, something that seems to be popping up is that, lets take for instance tanks, is that across racial pairings (Greenskin/Highelf) classes seem to start having some similarities. The Black Orc seems to be like a pretty "offensive tank" and so does the Swordmaster (This is from gamesday information about the blackorc, and things paul/jeff said about the swordmaster).

SO, while they are different classes they have similarities, eg offensive tank. The Ironbreaker/Chosen are shaping up to be the most defensive tanks, but no one really knows yet about Chosen-Mechanics.

For your example, yes empire has bright wizards, but chaos have magus (DD magic dealer).

The classical thought is younger and immature players want to be pretty instead of an ugly orc, and though some units are “sexy”, their innocence advises against rolling. Now I am not saying more younger / immature players play on the good side, but it is the perception and many “older” players will role Destruction based on that perception alone.
  • The “horde” will stay “horde”! Honestly I am an ex-horde player, and even though I did spend time on alliance, my heart still lies with the “underdog” faction of WoW which will subtly persuade me on the character creation screen to automatically look for Orcs, Goblins, and Dark Elves . There are many, many WoW veterans who will at least try out WAR for the pvp, and it is my guess that those who rolled horde will stay horde here and roll Destruction like yours truly.

— would you switch to Order or stay Destruction?

Me, even if I’m over run with noobs with long queues, I’ll still always be Destruction.

-D^t

You think that with Dark Elves being in the game at launch that younger gamers will not be drawn to them?  Also, as an "older" gamer (23), and someone who's followed this game for a while, if anything, I'll be rolling a dwarf  (instead of Chaos first) to avoid the younger/immature crowd.

As far as the TT gamers go I am pretty sure you'll find a large majority of them going either Greenskin or Dwarf...Just head over to warhammeralliance and see how many of them play order races. Though the TT-gamers will by far and away be the smallest population of gamers in this game.

Also as a long time Horde-player (since launch basically), and someone who is dying to play a Dwarf or KoTBS, I don't see how you can just make a broadstrokes statement like that. Sure I liked horde, but I am ready for something different.

One of the best things about the WAR-universe is that there isn't a good/bad side. They are both equally gruesome.  Just read the names (Order/Destruction) and you can see which each is fighting for, but to say that fanatical WitchHunter is any less evil than someone from the destruction side is just an incorrect statement.  Both sides in this game are suppose to be at WAR, and to say that fanatic fighting for their religion (Empire or Chaos, just for example) is just in their fight, and the fanatic their fighting against is evil is...well you can see where this is going hopefully.

Anyway, thanks for the post that has absolutely nothing to back it up other than an opinion. Good Post

As for the question, I would definitely play order till destruction pop evened out. I am planning on playing every race anyway(cause each of their 1-40 zones are different), and I personally think that the Dwarf Community is shaping up to be the best hands down.

I think you are under estimating the allure of the order races. I know for myself I started off wanting to be a Chosen, then I read up more on Dwarfs and they are the race for me.

When I pre-ordered I got into the beta. It's been a ton of fun so far! Don't let the WoW-fanbois get you down. They want another WoW just with different skins, and are afraid to try new things.

Character creation is probably the worst aspect of this game. I will agree with you there.

The sound/music though, I found myself really enjoying. Maybe it's just a personality difference, but I really really enjoyed the music.

I also found myself enjoying the controls. The new aspect to them I found to be a lot of fun. You said, "if it ain't broke don't fix it," but how else do you implement new gaming conventions without stepping out of the box?  Personally I think that if this game doesn't end up pulling it off, the next TR-esque game will polish up the controls and make them great.

As a big fan of SWG this will definitely be the game I end up going to, and you also never know what beta-build they are actually testing vs. what we get to play...there has to be a reason for such restricted play times in the beta.

Swordmasters have to be the biggest dissappointment in my book. I have a feeling the Dark Elves are just going to steam roll the High Elves  on every server when it comes to race vs. race matchups.

These polls usually only show a very small fraction of what the games population is actually going to be. If anyone recalls these kind of polls before WoW, horde were always slated as being way over populated. But, as most of us know when the game came out there were almost 3:1 ratios (alliance:horde).

Please link this article, because I never remember hearing that stealth would be in the game. Only that it would definitely not be in the game.

They've said time and time again that there won't be any stealth-class in the game; there will, however, be classes that use positional attacks.

Sorry 'Rogues' you'll actually have to stand up and fight in this game, rather than hiding.

From an AFS (Alliance of Free Sentients) point of view it would be nice to be able to play some of the other members of the alliance.

But - lets get this game out the door - the above can always be added as expansions.

Fair enough....

One of the big things that the developers of this game want characters to be able to do when going into a fight, is to identify their opponent before you engage in the fight. So, therefore stealth doesn't fit into their ideals for the game.

Also, there will be rogue-esque classes in the game (Witch Elf, and Witch Hunter namely) who have positional attacks. However, in this game they will take more skill to play, because you'll actually have to be crafty enough to sneak up on your opponent (using terrain and other such things to hide yourself).

As someone who played a rogue for 1.5+ years in wow, and have done a lot of end game stuff, I am really excited for this kind of a class. It will, to me at least, be a lot more fun than the traditional stealthers.

In short, WAR is different in wow.

Neither side is suppose to be good or evil. It's just about fighting.

That being said, anybody who isn't following the game will realize this (and most who are still won't).

I think the game will even itself out pretty well. There aren't going to be the same differences that there are between alliance and horde. WAR is going to be a much grittier game in general (in terms of graphical appeal -meaning both sides are going to look mean-)

I mean I can't make up my mind between dwarfs, chaos, and empire...

No, thank god. You'll have to fight or run away. No slinking around, too scared to show yourself during a fight.

I agree. I'm hoping that Bioware's secret MMO is a Sci-Fi one. Man, we need a damn good Sci-Fi MMO . . . that's not Eve.

That would be freakin' sweet if BioWare actually comes out with a game...we'll see though. And, if they are then we won't actually be able to play for for another 2-3 years

I think that if this game really does come out in Q4 2007 it may grab some gamers that don't really have any games to play currently.

With AoC being pushed back again ( I know I'll pick up this game to keep myself occupied = )).

Hopefully it will turn out to be a great game though...We are in need of a good Sci-Fi MMO...that's not EvE.

Look into their tactics system. It seems to be the way to distinguish yourself.

Personally this looks like a good system to allow old, successful guilds to stand out even more. Maybe even act as a way to curb guild drama, because it's not as simple as starting up another guild.

Old guilds should be rewarded for sticking around, working things out, and being successful. Seems like a cool system if implemented correctly

I really hope not. The crowd that would come in with the xbox360 would be awful for the community.

I'd rather see the time put into new content and patches than designing the same game for another platform.
