Lance Robertson: There are all kinds of innovations. It's not just RvR for us, it's the PvE innovations too. We've got public quests, which are great dynamic stories done in groups that are going on in the world, and as you wander the world you come into areas where there are these activities going on, where these stories are happening. It's a collective example of "We're trying to beat this area."

In the game now, there's a giant in the game and you need to convert him to your side, to get him to help you out to beat the Dwarfs. As you come into the area, there are other people killing Squigs because the giant doesn't like Squig, then after that stage it becomes getting beer to get him drunk so he helps your side, then the giant goes and gets a giant bomb that he carries over to the Dwarf gate, and when he blows that open Dwarfs come out.

There are hundreds of these things in the game, where you come into the area and contribute with other people without being grouped. It's not the traditional, "I go to the NPC and put my blinders on." You get rewards for contributing, there are incentives to helping out, it builds community. If you take it to its logical extreme, we're going to have those things in the RvR areas, we're going to have those in the cities, so it's really interesting.

Tha SoE-ish approach, you have to play it to judge it.  Well, flashnews.  I know that to me, the guy who is the best in group, it does matter a LOT.  And I also know, that in order to be the best in PvE-groups, in WAR, you have to PvP and raze the enemy capital.  So, you will be a subpar, weak, insignificant peasant beside a true PvPers when it come to PvE grouping.  This is completely, totally, and unquestionnably, unacceptable.

 

 

Best groupers (PvE), have to earn it by grouping (PvE).

Look what the hell can you do about it..NOTHING,so why dont you stop moaning and except WAR for what it will be or go play Vanguard or EQ2 or WOW or lotr yeah these are ALL PVE games.

You are never going to win your argument and Mythic are not going to listen to wining PVEs who think every mmorpg should be made for them.You can spout off till you are blue in face but you will not change a thing.Beacuse Anofalye says its not acceptable its got to be right lol.

Poor PVEs lol, all there games are broke so they turn to WAR knowing its a game built around RVR-PVP-PVE.You got two choices here..1 Shut up and enjoy  WAR for what it is ..2 Go play a mmorpg where you can grind yourself  to death then sit on your pathetic pony giving it the big i am outside your local A/H...

PVEs are the minority in this game..freaking live with it.

PS: Vanguard is the only game that really shove a group of players aside, telling them to not let the door hit them on the back.  WAR-devs are close to Vanguard devs, yet not as adamant...yet...on a road, walking in the middle is never good.  You walk on either side, not in the middle.

How do you come to the conclusion that WAR is the most PVE friendly mmorpg coming out? AOC has most of  its game as PVE,you only get to GVG at end game and in one zone call the boarder kingdoms.

So by your assumption the PVEs should go to the most friendly mmorpg which is in fact  AOC.I say this to you again Ano,you are never going to change the way this game is set up and you sure as hell wont convince any DEV  that a PVE server is required to make this game successful.

Go to the WOW forums and you will see that no game has ever got the attention that WAR is getting on the WOW forums.Mention Vanguard and they will tell you its shit,mention lotr and they will tell you its a clone of  WOW but even more boring.

Not entirely accurate. About 2 table top editions ago, the Empire had Knights on Foot, I want to say they were the Reiksguard, but it's been a long time since I looked at or faced a unit of them. They used the same 2 handed greatswords we've seen the KotBS drawn with in concept art.

Paul stated KOTBS  would fight off  the ground.In this vid he states there is 2 mounted classes.Dose not take rocket science to put two and two together.

Hmm..seems we will see mounted combat but only 2 classes will have it.Knights Of The Blazing Sun will fight not on the ground.That i have to take as mounted combat as i don't see anything else it can be.

Now , One thing that bothers me is the terrible fire effects (graphic AND  sound)  I have seen for the fire in the bright Wizard video.  Iv'e seen and heard better fire effects in games that came out years ago.  I really hope this pre-beta video doesn't show up in the final game, it would be a real disappintment.  

 

take a look at the video.  The fire seems blurred and fake.  And the sound effects all sound the same.   Anyway, with fire being the primary attack -- this would get old quick.  Any thoughts?

Just for the record ,you do know that's a beta  vid? I am sure by the time it goes gold the fire will have a bit more density to it.

This isn't a FFA type of PvP either which is more niche but growing. Even if you hate PvP you can do PvE in WAR but your always adding to the PvP side of things, and your going to mis out on tons of content if you leave the PvP alone in this game.

WoW had tons of PvE content but crap PvP more people called for better PvP, WAR showed up. They bring the style of RvR to the table with creatures we are all familar with and an auto targeting system we are all familiar with too.

Is there really going to be enough people to make this game a sucess? I know its had like 300k for beta and I know my son talks about the game alot with his school mates, but is there content there to keep you in the game for a long time? When people PvP / RvR its not all the time, well not the majority. They explained how the RvR thing works well and im appreciative for that but Im still not convinced there will be enough PvE content.

Most games have PvP as end game, WAR has it all the way thru.

What if I wanted to just get my normal fix of PvE, enjoy quests, get immmersed all in the Warhammer universe? Im not too into the RvR fighting but I like the Warhammer lore.

Guess going to have to wait until game release to find out if im going to get gimped in that area. I hope there is enough thought going into the type of player who enjoys the PvE in this setting. Please don't call me a carebear, as I do like to PvP just not all the time and if this is a PvP heavy game I think its an important point to bring up. I'm only going off what a full time mom reads so sorry if im not all clued up either!

No disrespect here but you have been told time and again by the devs what this mmorpg is about.People can talk about it till they are blue in the face,it wont change a thing.

Paul Barnett has said time again that there are PLENY of other PVE mmorpg out there for the PVEs.WAR is a RVR-PVP-PVE game and that's the way it will stay.I am sorry all these other mmorpg have let you PVEs down. WAR caters to PVPs  but if you want to hop on for the ride you are welcome,you might find you love the game.

This is why very few people pvp 24/7 in these types of games and most never will. But what is that... your game lacks alternative gameplay for those who don't feel like PvP'ing every second?

I'm not saying this game doesn't have a chance of being a decent PvP game....but the odds are against it due to design flaws and it won't be nearly successful compared to most mmorpgs of the next generation because it fails to attract the type of people who play these games.

Can we the PVPs help it  that every freaking PVE game out  there is either Broke(vanguard) Flawed(WOW) or damn right boring(lotr).I say let them come because it wont change a thing. Why do people seem to think you need 9 million subs to make a great mmorpg work lol.We dont care about massive SUBS and we now know that over 300.000 people signed up for beta and counting.WAR will have 2 million subs by the end of  2008 so why should we give a flying toss what you say or any other PVE elitists.

 Like i said,so far AOC has shown nothing but PVE footage and for a game that is meant to be PVP as the main concept it is sadly lacking.Go back to the start of the production and early forum threads and you will see AOC was put over as  PVE game which will have some form of PVP.Now bring in WAR and all of a sudden AOC is a PVP game with some PVE.

Seems like a desperate attempt to keep in line with WAR.FC know if  they don't advertise AOC as PVP they have no hope against WAR.
