Thats good.  I'll have to use that one sometime.   lol

It's an old saying, probably decades old now, but still pretty funny.

The linked video is obviously Age of Conan, not Warhammer. Is this supposed to be a joke?

Avira Anti-Vir

This is regarded in some circles as the best free antivirus available. It does have a once-daily popup, but IMO it's a small price to pay. This particular service scans your hard drive in real time while files are being edited, to prevent viruses before they happen.

As for the processes, most of them are harmless.

atiptaxx.exe = ATI video driver

ati2evxx.exe = Never seen this before, but probably also for your video card.

msmsgs.exe = MSN Messenger

jusched.exe = Java Update Scheduler

hpwuSchd2.exe = HP software updater

hpqimzone.exe = Some kind of HP software thing.

wuauclt.exe = Windows Update

I don't recognize the others but they don't look particularly dangerous. I'd recommend you download Avira (linked above) and run a good thorough scan, and consider downloading Ad-Aware or something similar as well to eliminate any spyware you might have.

EDIT: I should clarify that it IS POSSIBLE that a virus would be running and active but not show up on the process list. There are ways to hide it, or mask it as a different process. Be sure to run anti-virus anyways just to be sure.

So now instead of people voluntarily dying to trade items without trading, they'll voluntarily die to give each other free equipment. All this update will accomplish is create a new kind of farming, and give people a reason to kill-trade.

Typically in my experience "Closed Beta" means they are looking for a select group of testers (usually based on PC hardware) to play the game and get feedback. "Open Beta" is usually about stress testing and the developer doesn't control who can get in. By this definition, it's still an Open Beta because anyone can get a pre-order and have access.

Regardless, I've said before and I'll say again that I don't know why people are making such a huge deal out of this. A pre-order box costs ONE DOLLAR. Stop demanding free access to a game you don't intend to buy.

It sounds to me like you might have a virus, although it could be many things. Two items of note:

First, do you have anti-virus, and if so, what kind?

Second, take a look at the Task Manager list of processes, specifically the ones with *your* username rather than just "SYSTEM" or similar labels, and let us know if there are any you don't recognize. With a few exceptions, processes labeled with your username should only include programs you started yourself or you have set to load on startup when you log in (such as instant messengers).

I'm sure things will be fine but CodeMasters isn't good at managing MMOs. I guess we'll see when it comes out.

Yeah I hope NetDevil handles things and CM is just the money people.  I don't really rely on customer service so its not a big deal to me but there is a post in the LOTRO forums right about CM.  And other Euro people seem to dislike them as well.

But I suspect they will probably rely on CM since they have the infrastructure in place.

I have a lot of bad experiences with Codemasters as well. They are a complete travesty of a company and I'll stay as far away from them as possible. Even Codemasters just handling the money would be a disaster, and I have no doubt they'll screw it up somehow.

Zero MMOs on my list other than WAR.
I may check out civ revolution on the console.
Who know I may play my girlfriends harvest moon DS cute.

I don't need to check one review for these games, not one forum comment.  Not one.  I just don't care.

This ladies and gentlemen, is the FunCom targetted demographic.

This guy says it all. Buying games on faith or even buying them "just because" makes you a target. The market is being flooded with trash games that aren't worth the CDs they are printed on. It's been happening to consoles for several years but it's definitely hitting MMOs now too, and we can all feel it, I think.

Make sure it's a REAL gaming shop, with dice and miniatures and such. Gamestop and Best Buy don't count... they've probably never heard of WAR let alone the tabletop.

No kidding. This patch speaks for itself. Anyone who is still gullible enough to play this game even semi-regularly should have their heads checked. What a disaster.

That's why they call it "free". It's a marketing ploy to trick players into paying for objects instead of for the subscription. Of course, buying objects is like buying the retail box; you only need to do it once and then they need to find another way to make money off you. Sounds like these guys decided destroying the gear you just bought was the way to go.

Lesson learned? I hope so. Never spend money on a game that has an item shop.

it isnt everyone... I dont.
plus you are assuming you know the Eve playerbase... many do.... but not all
and Xfire doesnt count duo instances

It would only count double if they are using two computers, but most players using multiple accounts just log in both on the same computer. In fact, CCP just made some adjustments a while back to reduce the memory needed specifically so people COULD run multiple clients on a single box.

Probably not then. The offer was only available to the first 50,000 key entries, and I imagine if they are already sending them out that it was finished rather early yesterday.

Mine told me I wouldn't get a spot until late today but I finished the download and installed the game around 8 PM last night. Just keep clicking the "check" button in the download manager and it'll find a spot eventually.

That was likely from a GM. it's customary to send a gift before the courtship and cybor begins.

10/10, made me LMAO IRL.

The pre-order is $1 at Target. If you pay this $1 you can see if the game is good BEFORE IT RELEASES. Or you can just read what everyone else has to say about it. Nobody is forcing you to pay. I just wish people would stop the "OMG I HAVE TO PAY THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!111!" posts. I could see being angry if it were a "free" trial and they wanted you to pay (I'm looking at you AoC) or if you had to pay to get a CHANCE at getting into beta, or even if they wanted like $10 for it, but none of these things are true. It's a totally reasonable offer.

It shouldn't matter, as far as I can tell. Just keep in mind that if your preorder is from Target you have to change O into Q.
