As an example of it being released too early, consider the following blue post from only two weeks ago:

- Trap Mastery - This will now be the 41-point Survival talent. Granted, not very sexy for a 41-pointer but we'll do some changes there in a future patch (after WOLK ships).

So they redesigned the hunter survival tree. They know they haven't finished. They know it doesn't work. And yet they'll still ship.

Not like they have looked at it once and said "oh that will do".  They have, like all classes remade the talent trees countless times.  And they have just got to a point with this "1" talent out of about "25" talents in the survival tree where they are out of ideas and will wait for the game to ship and see how it plays on the live servers.

Its a 1 point talent that is ok, not great but ok "+30% duration on your traps".

Its hardly a reason to delay the launch... but speaking as some 1 in beta .. *ahem* unlike the OP *ahem* its ready to go now.

Ok, you asked for combat logs, here's one:

http://www.reawakenguild.com/foo/sws/

The log has been put together by Fusion. Some of you may know them as one of the current top raiding guilds. They have cleared BT in a time of one hour 50 minutes (second fastest recorded time ever), and have also cleared Sunwell. I think we can take it as read that all members of this guild are highly skillful players.

However, when I look at the DPS logs above, the hunters and mages are fairly consistently at the top of damage done, however the elemental shaman never breaks into the top five, and is often only contributing half of the DPS of the top characters. Shadow priest DPS is also very low (in the fights where shadow priests are used).

This doesn't look like balance to me.

what your failing to factor in is the boss encounter... its rare on a raid for melee such as elem shammies to top range dealers like hunters or mages as often a boss fight requires melee to move around more, to stop attacking or move away from the boss depending on what is happening.. where as range can happily fire away.  also if a boss fight has several adds, the meleee and some range will be spread out to deal with those thus not contributing at that time to the DPS on the boss.

See where I am going.

Please educate your self on what is coming with Wrath b4 opening you mouth.. as you obviously have no idea.

....did you....

Forget it.

I must have worded my thoughts wrong somehow. Blizzard is not known for innovation. They have their three games, and have done nothing beside those. Other companies have "milked" titles as well, yes. Never said they didn't. Some companies however have put out different titles as well. Blizzard hasn't. Understand what I mean now?

then our definition of "milking" differs... Milking to me, means a title that is reshaped and recycled over and over and over again in a short space of time but never realy getting any better... like C&C.

What I think your saying is Blizzard are playing it safe and sticking to what they know will sell. They do have a new MMO in the works, apparantly its a new IP.. time will tell.. blizzard are not ones to rush.

GLAD TO SEE BLIZZARD IS MILKING THINGS, AMRIGHT?

And where, praytell, did I say that Blizzard is the only company doing it? Do you realize how much money Blizzard has made with their games? Do you realize that they are a company that could AFFORD to take a risk, but they have not?

Do you also realize they are not the ONLY company doing that? Did I ever imply that? No, I did not. So just leave it be.

Blizz devs talked about it yesterday at blizzcon.  Wont be in for wrath launch but some time after.

Blizz said it wont be instant, you cant for example in PVP see a warrior running at you and you change spec to fight him only for a hunter to have ago and you change specs again, there will be a cooldown and other restrictions.

what blizzard want to do is lessen the idea that most players have of "we have to bring a mage for CC or we cant take that ret paladin because boss #3 needs 3 healers and we only got 2"  With duel spec that ret pally can DPS his little heart out but then switch to his secondary holy spec for 1 boss fight then switch back for the rest of the raid.. In other words its win for the raid group and win for the ret pally.

How many of us have been in a raid group that is forming only for the raid leader to "say sorry not enough healers online.. raid cancelled", well duel specs should stop this.  I am all for it.

Any one been invited to a raid group only for a cheecky raid leader to say "you can come but you must go back to town, spend gold and change spec for Boss #2".  again duel spec sorts that out.

Also means no more "can I join your guild?".. "no sorry we are full of DPS warriors".

The only downside I can see is loot.. more fighting over loot cus a rogue wants it as well as a druid who wants it for his secondary feral spec.

Seems we'll soon get a duel spec system in WoW, a system where a tank spec warrior for example can swap to a DPS warrior mid raid.

Other having some addional UI stuff like the wardrobe mods to support this feature blizzard didn't say much else.

discuss...

well my first toon back in 2005 took 50 or so days played to get to 60 ( 15*24 hours = 360 hours).. no joke but that was because I was new to the game and was doing a bit of everything, some days I would not quest at all, Id just play the auction house and make some cash, spend my time in the battlegrounds, roam the world looking for unusual animals to tame ( still upset I could not tame a gariaff), or work on professions.

Since then EXP gain has been increased by 30% so it will be faster for new people to lvl compared to old WoW.

I wish Blizzard would create a new franchise rather than milking their existing ones. When was the last time Blizzard created a new franchise? Diablo? Starcraft? They may be great developers and create great sequels, but I think the time is ripe for a new franchise.

Blizzard is good at some things. But Innovation is not one of them. Not in the Storyline department and not in the Game-mechanic department. They are great at shaping and polishing existing concepts into a working form.

They have made three settings, one of which is vaguely unique, the other two are blatant copies (if done with a twist) of another game-universe. They've been milking those three titles for years now and there's no signs of the fans stopping handing them buck after buck if they just tack new numbers on their titles.

So I'm willing to bet that the MMO will be World of Starcraft, or World of Diablo.

Of course, they could be doing something totally different and surprise everyone...that'd be a treat, no?

How have they been milking Starcraft and Diablo 3, its been over 10 years since the last starcraft game and 8 years or so since the last Diablo game... they spent years and millions on Starcraft ghost and scrapped it as it was not good enough.. So I dispute the milking comment.

In regards to Wow I think they have sold out a little but hey its all revenue for other games.

Starcraft: Original + Broodwar Expansion + Upcoming follow-up.

Diablo: Original, plus Expansions + one published follow-up + upcoming new Diablo game.

Warcraft: Original, plus expansions + two published follow-ups, plus Expansions + MMO.

Now tell me how you can't see that they are "milking" these games? In the years since they started their IP's other companies of Blizzards magnitude have come up with dozen different settings/games. Blizzard do not do that...so far.

Don't take the milking comment too negatively. Supposedly it all generates money to be spent on a new, great franchise. I only wish they would get off their asses and make something new.

When I think of milking I think of C&C and Battlefield games, ie, new versions every year or 2, Blizzard in regards to starcraft and diablo are not doing this, they could of but its been 10 years since the last Starcraft game.. thats hardly milking it.

Thats almost right, they have not merged servers.. they opened a bunch of offical russian servers 5 or 6 when the russian version of wow was released a few months back.

There were 2 or 3 english/EU servers that were unoffical russian servers and blizzard gave players on these servers a free transfer to the real russian servers a few others transfered to the other English/EU servers, Blizzard then closed these servers as they were empty.

I dont know if this is true but I read some place these closed servers will open just after wrath launch as new english servers for players who want to reroll on a fresh server.

So no there were no mergers, infact more servers were opened. and 2 or 3 were closed as they were more or less empty as a result of mass migration.

No really.  The BETA testers are telling horror stories about warlocks haveing their a$$es handed to them  and I mean they re the one-eyed, left-handed, red-headed step child of WOW in WOTLK. They just keep nerfing warlocks whilst ret pallies are 3 shotting everything in sight. And don't get me stated on mages who are now so OP they might as well be bosses.

It's  sick twisted thing Blizzard did to warlocks and they keep buffing stunlock! My freind has the best PVP gear in WOW and he gets stunlocked by blue rogues from 100 to 0. Thus rogues need to be nerfed ...or rather stunlock does or all warlocks will quit.

Well we're still in beta classes are chnaged once even twice a week.  Any 1 who quits now over class balance does not deserve to be in Beta.

Hunters have been nerfed 3 patches in a row, but I am still here.

And in the last patch the 2 changes to lock we're buffs.

Affliction
Improved Corruption - Ranks 3,4, and 5 tooltip fixed. Rank 5: Increases the damage done by your Corruption by 10%, and increases the critical strike chance of your Seed of Corruption by 5%

Destruction
Molten Core - Your Shadow spells and damage over time effects have a 15% chance to increase the damage of your Fire spells by 10% for 12 sec. Up from 6 sec.

But yes ret pallies are OP right now and the dev/players know it.  Mages seem fine to me and rogues are just as 50/50 as they have ever been.

Reactions, advice or information can be send bij PM. I then contact you from there. "expert" is the key word here, pls so not i have played WOW ...

We intend to create real games for gamers and therefore seek contact with the community rather then make the game only with our narrow developers point of view. So in post-production fases we will ask/need more community input.

For now its just the first steps in creating game structure(s).

Yours Xrux

So you want to completly ignore the opinions of player that have played wow.. you want to ignore the largest gaming community in the genre... and you talk about narrow mindness.... you sir are a joke, and doomed to failure.

We see these posts all the time over at indiegamer and gamedev.  People post "I have an idea for the best MMO ever" who have not coded a line in their lives, have no money yet expect experts to jump on board LOL.

The #1 thing that stops me looking at another MMO besides WoW is the combat, WoW's combat is so much more its hard to let go and settle for a lower form of combat.

I made this http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=B9fqgHHDfNc video over a year ago and shows a hunter taking on a sucession of mobs both in melee and ranged.  I have yet to find a game where I can do this.

There is a leathercrafting shop in Dalaran (Wrath capital city) has all 3 LW specialists, Dragon,Elemental and Tribal.. no new recipies on those guys yet.  However this is another guy with 5 pages of recipies and 2 pages of lvl 80 epic stuff.

In short these more focus on crafting in wrath from what I have seen.

Should run wow just fine, dont expect to wack the gfx settings to MAX, in regards to BC it will run but you will have to drop the settings to min or play with view distance alot more.

I had to play wow/bc on my 4200Ti for a while and it was fine. I could tweak it to run at 25+FPS in all situations. (cept cities).
