Yeah I guess it kinda does but the chinese wouldnt really think that way since they basically just have holes in the ground instead of the western toilet.

Anyway I have played dozens of mmos and know what I want out of them, and have played ryzom and know what it didn't supply me with. The game mechanics were quite fun, the empty lowbie lands and the typical "oh well go latch on to some high endgamers if you want to have community" line doesnt work for me. I much prefer being a part of the initial history of a world, not messing around in the last throws of it while all the endgamers flex their muscles out in the dangerous areas.

Of course you don't want to lose your precious history.. that'd mean you'd have to start from 0 like everyone else and who'd want that :p

Anyway I repeat: my tastes are not up for discussion. All I said was that it was unfortunate, i was hoping for that possibility and its apparently not there. All that means is that there'll probably be one less player, doesnt change anything for any of you, so relax.. you are not being a good example of the vaunted superior community we hear about ;)

 

I have a feeling that there will be quite a few new players this time around, including me.  I fooled around on the trial island but never actually subbed.  Im looking forward to when Ryzom opens up again.

Ryzom was a fun game from what I could tell and what I have heard.  You can still play and have a good time, regardless if you aren't part of the "history" or whatever.  Ive started quite a few games from their beginning and it really isnt that big of a deal.

If it really is that important to you, whats the harm in having fun in a great sandbox game while you wait for whatever game coming in the future you can be part of the "history" of?

And even if there was a wipe, the vet players would likely roll a character with their old name and continue with their old guilds and relationships which would still leave you alone :).  So  a wipe wouldnt really help anyone. 

I think your stats are a bit off.  There are a lot more people than that who have the means to play games with specs greater than WoW's. 

How can you say 95% of the midwest when you are getting your data from a very small pool of people?  And I would say people can "afford" better rigs, they really arent that expensive.  Although they can afford them, not all people have them.  But if they needed to get them to play a certain game that they wanted, many people could easily do that.

Good news.  Im hoping to see some change tomorrow since it will be August 1st.

Lol. What the fuck does being over the age of 30 have to do with anything?  Maybe people would be able to see this "hell of a game" if they actually released some real, hard evidence that this game has been built over the past few years.

Dont get me wrong, I hope as much as the next guy that Darkfall releases soon and is everything it claims to be.  But some people just get blinded by what they want to beleive about certain things that they fail to see what is actually going on.

Lol, not imho.  That screenshot doesnt really do the game justice.  Gameplay was great, community was great, graphics were better than most games for its time and still look good.  Character models could have been improved, but they werent terrible.

The company that was running it went bankrupt, but it has been purchased and will be back soon.  It really was a great game just was poorly marketed.

If you feel like going old school, you should try Ultima Online.  I would suggest a private server as, in my experience, they are better ran and more fun. 

If you dont feel like going that far back, you should try The Saga of Ryzom.  This may seem like an odd suggestion because this game is currently offline and will be restarted soon (thats all we know).  But when this game does come back online, you should be able to run it and it really is a great game.  It has that great sandbox feel that you loved in AC and it seems like a good choice for an old AC player. (including me).  I am just waiting for it to go back online and then maybe I will see you ingame.  Check the forums out at www.ryzom.com.
