Roleplaying? what roleplaying? there is no Roleplaying in RFO.

I agree with the rest, but as you said you didn't even make it to the pvp part, I'm afraid your not really in a position to give a fair review yet.

I don't really understand how you think the enviroment is ugly? I've played most MMO's it compares if not beats many games on the market.

The trouble with alot of PvP based MMO's is the lack of RP it comes down to which is more important to you as a player I personally opt for PvP over RP as I don't have much interest in it.

Im not sure as I'm Accrecian and haven't played bellato  but for me the quests come through automatically did this happen for the first quest? if so then you jus have to keep grinding till you get high enough level for the next quest to be given to you.

Yeah, If you can handle WoW to 60 this game will be a piece of cake the scenery and mobs change its the same as WoW only you don't need to run around looking for quest npc's which I prefer

I would say im more a casual gamer however every so often I get chances to play for a long burst. The grind is kinda boring, but compared to some of the games I've played (and I've played most of the mainstream mmo's) it isn't all that bad. My best advice is play the game to 20 and go check out a chip war (mass PvP) and see what you think after that, all of which is possible in the trial. I personally don't like grinding im more for PvP but If I can put up with the grind It can't be half bad.

For me I found the game cool from the start all the armours i collected looked cool and different. Ive spent about 18 hours in game getting to level 18 and in that time I've also checked out the chip wars which is cool. You do however need to be I think at least around level 30 to actively participate in the PvP without being one or two hitted.

I had the same problem. Dunno if this will solve your issue or if you have tried this but if not:

1. Right click My Computer for properties.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Click on startup and recovery settings.
4. Under system failure un-check the box which says automatically restart.

this resolved the problem for me.

Just got the trial I tried the game on a friends account. What I would like to know is which is the best server for population/maturity?

thanks

yes you do. before NGE this for a player wasn't much of a set back because by the time you got to jedi you knew the game well. It's not all that bad there are tons of shops on the server I used to play on to buy the materials needed. If it puts noobs off playing a jedi I guess thats a good things as there are too many as it is.

Servers are not barren. That is a misinformation spread by vocal minority, spreading bad press. Server are in reality thriving, life is busier than ever.

- SOE Press minister.

Ok I play Euro-Farstar and I would'nt ever use the word thriving for the current server population

I remember when melee was better than using guns, there was alot of talk that SOE was using SWG as a test for changes in EQ. I wonder if there was any truth in that..

For me CU was fun, but it just didn't have the star wars feel I got from pre cu

If not its fine, chances are no1 does just wanted to play the game for a week or so, see wut all the fuss is about. But from the trial im def not paying 15 dollars jus to see that it sucks. If it sucks it sucks, but id like to find that out for free lol.

I'll save you a week of your life and tell you, it sucks! Keep your eyes out theres a good chance now it seems one of the old combat systems could be put back in place.

Ok SWG had 3 versions of the combat system basically.

The first was what many people wish still existed today. This was called pre combat upgrade because it was before the combat upgrade was put into play.

The second was called the combat upgrade or CU for short.

NGE is the latest version of the combat system, most vets dislike it for different reasons.

The NGE made PvE about as exiting as watching paint dry. And the less said about how messed up PvP is now the better....

I just find it funny the way they've totally messed up. After 3 years of SOE you know there going to take the easy way out of this. Which is to sneak in an old system, can't wait to give out all the "we told you so".

DAoC is an amazing game. Also check out Eve online. I've heard DDO isn't all that but haven't tried it myself. I'd say try em all see which appeals to you the most.

I am the same as many using these forums in feeling that Pre-CU was the most fun I've had in any mmo I've played. But I've decided its time to let go there are other mmo's out there. If your a hardcore Sci-fi fan check out Eve its not the same but its a decent enough game. I miss swg but this Is'nt the first company to do this to me, I played NC for many years which was another amazing mmo till the company tried to change things around a bit.... Unfortunatly its not looking good for any new sci-fi mmo's within the next few years, you'll just have to make the most of the current mmo's or play a different game genre entirely for that star wars experience....
