Enjoyed the game plenty til level 50 or so, and believe there is a lot of potential slowly being realised here.

But I did not renew today for several reasons. I will be back when some of them are addressed.

1 - Crafting is a broken mess

2 - Sieging does not work.. so I would rather wait to get to 80 when it does. This was the highlight of the game for me, so it not working is a major issue.

3 - Dungeons like the Main System are a miserable experience. Hard to get a balanced group for it (all players need to be within 5 levels); the elite mobs hit you for YOUR level, whatever level you are - ie, no point going back when a few levels higher. as they will scale with you, but the drops and xp will not. They are public.. meaning there can be some fun pvp, but getting even to the second boss can take hours. And respawns are intense, so one wipe and you have to start the whole dungeon again.

4 - Travel times. Well, this is more a question of taste, but there is so much travelling to get all the limited content that it gets old fast.

5 - Stats still a total mystery and probably do not work.

6 - Itemisation still limited (for my HoX at least)

7 - Excessive class imbalance. Tempest of Set are raid level mobs. It's a travesty of a class.

8 - Stamina system means it takes longer to run around the higher level you are, and makes melee progressively worse against casters.

9 - Solo content slows down considerably.

10 - Performance has been declining for the last three patches or so.

11 - No real community evolving, because of the zone instancing

12 - No PVP rewards, lack of PVP incentive.

13 - Almost no fun sidequesty things to do... missing a sense of life and polish past 40 or so.

14 - Instances are boring to look at.

15 - Zones need work. They are very variable. Some zones, like Thunder River, are fantastic. Others are really unpolished.

16 - Too much grinding. My whole guild is now grinding one high level zone. It is not alone in this. Its a travesty when grinding is deemed for fun than dealing with the horrors of dungeons.

17 - my female toon suffers a significant penalty

etc

There is a lot to like in AoC; its just not finished. I hope these issues do get addressed, because if even some are fixed I will be back for sure.

Oldest story in the book.

People enjoying themselves are playing, and for the most part on the official forums. People who aren't are here bitching, and misery loves company.

So if you are enjoying the game, don't spend too much time here.

I just hit 50. Took me about 48 hours to do the 10 levels between 40 and 50, in Fields of the Dead.

49 to 50 was the one that took the longest time, since i ran out of quests. So i had to grind my way all up to 50. And now i moved on to the next zone.. But it looks like i have to grind a lot more, since i only found 3 new quests so far. Which are all red to me, in my quest log.

Either i cant find it, or else are there missing a lot of 49+ quests.

I am also 50. I have never run out of quests, although FoTD was more boring than others. Have you gone to Eigolon mountains? There are many quests there for you at level 50. And did you do the noble district quests?

There are two camps on this.

a) adjusted human beings who enjoy a fun game and good pvp combat, who agree that spawn camping should be stopped, because it is not pvp, it is exploiting game mechanics.

b) pathetic whining brats who think that they should have the right to take advantage of load screens and what have you, and swagger around like the playground bully, killing people as they spawn, and then scream like little babies when told they are being antisocial.

As to griefing outside of spawn points... well, it is possible to switch instances in this game, so if it gets too bad that's probably the best way to deal with it.

But the idea that e-bullying is "hardcore" pvp is nonsense. Anyone who suggests otherwise is probably too weak-minded to understand how pathetic they are.

I used to spend a lot of time on this site as I waited for the next MMO experience to really get me going.

Finally, finally, the wait has paid off - truly, AoC is a great game. Who know how I will feel in a few months, but it has everything I want - and is only set to get better.

Sure, it does a lot of things other MMOs did, and does not do some stuff that people want, but it just all works, somehow. The combat is a joy.

I have no need to come back to mmorpg.com for a while. Buy this game.

The descriptions are so general, it often is entirely unclear what the different ranks of any feat give you.

Are there any good sites that really explain the feats?

Thanks!

I find myself a little lost as to what skills I need, and whether they offer genuine choice, or an illusion of choice (ie some skills are must haves, and far more important than others)

Can anyone point me to an article on what skills are good for what classes?

Thanks!

What is funny, is that players that exploit the game per the agreements that they click on to start it, will more then likely be banned for its continuous use.  Why do people want to exploit the game?  It takes all the fun out of it.

couldn't agree more.. how boring. And guess what, they will all start griping soon about a lack of endgame.

But I am pretty sure that overall most people will have fun in this game once the initial shakeout has taken place.

Well, I started playing this am for a few hours before turning up disgracefully late at work, and I gotta say, she's running well. I have a good but certainly not spectacular system (duo 2.6 OC, 8800 GTS 512, 2 mb ram) and its working very smoothly. Load times have been reduced drastically from beta, bugs pretty well ironed out... all in all it seems like a pretty good launch, and I am pleased to say I think I have found my new MMO home for a while.

I seriously don't see why "anyone" would be upset over this great news. At least it means that Funcom has gotten a good hold on the issues, and obviously are making great progress in correcting them.

Perhaps what they stated their goals were in the Beta test using an older client were actually true then? It sure looks like it to me.

I'm sure the many haters will sit back and think of new excuses to put the game down though, but performance may ultimately not be one the the reasons.

Also, obviously from some posts there are some systems experiencing worse performance but, this is still great news. I believe Funcom now has a handle on the performance issues.

Good work!

Couldn't agree more. Amazing isn't it?

Seriously, what on earth is wrong with these people? Any real fan of PC games would be delighted to see Funcom pull off a really great title.

Ugh; I actually feel disgusted by some of these comments. Honest skepticism I am all for, but some of this bile is really unbelievable.

hi, I am in the closed beta and we just had a 650mb patch. all the stuttering is now gone, and my fps seems to almost doubled. I think the game fully supports multiple cores now because I saw cpu usage go to 100%.

good job funcom.

This is just as bad a troll posts.

Epic fail

What on earth is wrong with some people. Someone tells you that there has been a great patch, and you call it an epic fail? You must be a little sick inside I think.

Indeed. Unless... just lets say for sake of completely random argument... they are testing stuff out to see what happens, including stuff they know will diminish performance in the short term. I realise that beta is not anything to do with testing an unreleased product; that in fact beta is about pre-releasing the game to mmorpg.com readers, but you never know - there is a slim possibility that they are testing things.

But once again for clarification:  IT IS NOT AN OLD CLIENT.

Thank you for your use of capital letters.

If you had not used them I would not have been alerted to the profound importance of your insights.

Well, Fritzl was the surname, not the first name.

And there are plenty of Europeans playing who follow the news... but still. It's these guys that should be worried:

It's a stunt, and not worth while getting upset over imo.

If this kind of thing upsets you, choose an RP server; there will be more control over names.
