grr... I promised myself not to get excited about another MMO, but the beast must be fed, and the truth is that despite my best intentions I am getting excited about this, and have preordered. It seems to offer so much of what I want... number one being meaningful world pvp (why oh why has that been so hard to make)... although I am still a little suspicious of videos with mobs sitting around like lemons waiting to be aggroed. Anyway, AOC, you are the next big hope. So a message to Funcom: please be real! Or else, well... um... nothing, but I'll be let down yet again, and that's a shame for me at least. I really couldn't stand another bug-infested, bore-fest. |

Guess I am in the minority in finding radio silence to be acceptable business practice. This has nothing to do with FLS or the POTBS game... which for all I know is the next big thing - and is certainly worth applauding for its efforts to break new ground. Anyway, I think this thread has outlived its useful life (if it ever had one) so am deleting the OP. |

tough crowd anyway, take it anyway you like - I prefer to give companies my money when they talk to me. When they ignore me I tend not to want to give them my money. Simple. Point is - I am saying that you should not expect SOE to talk to you if you have an issue with them. Decent people, way I see it, don't charge you for services not rendered. If you decide to take an "it's dog eat dog" attitude to business, well, good luck. No doubt anything is justified under that philosphy. But plenty of business don't work like that, and gain a solid clientele on the back of approachability, decency, consistency. "Most assinine complaint ever?" Interested to hear you think that SOE has behaved decently in this case. Glad I am not your customer is all I can say.

Ho hum.. I kind of fancied being a lich - it was a wonderfully gruesome kind of class, that to me set AoC apart from other MMOs more than other classes. But there you go... tis the nature of things |

My general experience is the levelling up is full of the joy of a new world, discovery, mystery... end game is a matter of running the same old content again and again and again for marginal increases in gear. If you get to see it, that is, as most of the end game content requires an organised guild to play it. |

Open RvR for sure... So much more room for random lunacy. I just pray they leave room for it to really happen... without a million NPC guards spawning or some such.

On the one hand you have the juggernaut that is WoW; on the other a veritable procession of relative failures, and real failures, one after another. I scratch my head wondering why. Maybe the truth is that a number of the 'failures' are perfectly respectable ventures in their own right.. but I do find it interesting that nothing has even touched on a tenth of wow in almost half a decade now. No other genre has seen such a serious drought, with the exception of one towering giant. Why do good MMOs appear to be such a challenge? Why do they for the most part seem so far behind the best of the single players and multiplayers in terms of graphics and gameplay? Are they really that much harder to make? I assume they must be... I am just puzzled. If AoC and WAR don't live up, well... I wonder if WoW will be remembered as this extraordinary bright flame that was the MMO boom of the mid 2000s, that then disappeared for another decade. |

I cancelled. I am willing to swallow the initial insult that I bought a broken game, although the simple fact is I was sold something that was rubbish, and Sony knew it. That is really disappointing from a major game company, given how great so many games are these days. Anyway, that's the nature of this industry I guess; we game addicts just have to suck it and wait for the good ones. But the real insult is the total lack of any response to my complaints at paying for a service I did not use after I cancelled and uninstalled. Nada. Zip. There are no humans at the other end of the line. I hate that enough from my telephone company, but from my hobby? Meh. It is not the end of my world. But I will not give any money to this company again. Simple. And this is nothing to do with what they did or did not do with other games. I played EQ 2 and had no complaints. But I will not risk dealing with a company that will not communicate with its clients. Once bitten...

For players over 25, or whatever a reasonable cut off date might be... I realise I am not exactly Mr Mature by the fact that I play these games in the first place - but here's the thing; I am 35, and would love to be on a server with people a little older. The thought of Conan full of people shouting 'noob' kills me. |
