Come again?

minstrels have access to all the instruments, you can train them at lvl 5 if memory serves. As far as singing I doubt that is technically possible at this time

Heh, it'd be funny if they rigged voice chat so you could project your voice from your toon.

edit: In no way am I suggesting this as a seious idea.. but it would be funny to try.

The title pretty much saids it all.

I didn't read any of the replies, but the answer is simple if it hasn't been given:

$5-10 is for walk-in pre-orders and you pay the rest when it is released, if you order online you are basically paying for the game right.  Basically the same thing, if you are pre-ordering it is understood you will be buying, if your intentions are otherwise just get into open beta April 6th and leave when it's released.

I'd like to see Minstrels having access to a few more unique instruments.  Possible 3-5 that are specific to Minstrel, but not including the intruments other classes play.  This way a Guardian might still be in the band for his Horn skills, and we won't have every band made up of low level mistrels.

EB Games has a 1-800 number, it's google-able, try that.  They gave me my key.

Do the majority of players really like this model, where you have to do hours of really boring stuff with limited powers to earn the right to do the cool stuff? I am sure some do, and I realise this game is geared to them, but I suspect the numbers of people who do are limited...

I so wish I could skip straight past the dull early level grind to the grand drama immediately. I want to buy a boat NOW! Not after six months of grinding. I want a shot at a flying mount after a few days of play. I want to be confronted with a scripted boss encounter NOW! Not in six weeks. I want to see giants come marauding from over the hills! I want to see a bad-ass evil wizard and his undead minions wreak havoc in elf-town, and watch as the NPC guards scurry to mount a defense. I want a dragon to start rampaging in the fields, and gather together a group of brave warriors to take him down. And hear him taunt us as we try to kill him. And then follow clues to the dragon's cave and find its cursed treasure... not get some random 'drop' that appears in my screen after I have 'established ownership'.

I don't know... bleh... this game has really made me lose faith in the current state of MMOs.

So looking forward to Warhammer/Age of Conan... and pray they avoid this yawn-fest.

Odd, you seem to be about the only one with this issue.

MP works fine for others and in fact more people are into it now than before.

Are you blind?  There are many posts complaining about the poor design of PvMP.

I agree 100% with the original poster.  PvMP is poorly designed and executed.  Players have no incentive to be there.  That is why they always hide behind NPCs and do not take forts.  Monsters will always be second rate to player characters.  1vs1 tests have shown that level 46+ player characters can easily solo level 50 rank 5+ monster players.  It takes 2-3 times the number of monsters to kill players.

I am stating this because people that have not played the game need to hear the truth.

I have an incentive, it's called fun.. basically all the incentive I ever look for in any content.

When I play PvMP I have fun.  I don't mind being weaker than PC's, it feels right, I'm just a stupid Orc.  And besides I'll be on the other end of the fight at some point in time.

Once the game comes out and the areas fill up there might be a general consensus to change the way it works, right now that isn't so.  Many people are having a great time as is.  Myself being one of them.

Assuming they are humanoids

Uruks were just pulled out of the muck and strapped with fresh gear ready to take on the heroes.

I can't see a level 1 Uruk being realistic myself, maybe warg or spider, but the evil humanoids are just kind of rough to start.  It's really the Free People that need to build up their skills (level) in order to be ready for battle with enemies of that caliber.

You really want to see LOTRO with the high res client if possible.

You have to preorder the game to play in "Open beta". It is more like a preorder beta.
In the states you can pick up a preorder DVD for $10 at BestBuy or other stores.

There is a general open beta for non-preorders starting April 6th, but they don't get to keep their characters as founders do.

Also the LOTRO is continuing to slide down the hype meter.

Nope, haven't noticed the same.. when I've been on.  I am staying away until open beta now, but when I am on there are plenty of people.  The beta is set to end on the 25th.. 2 days, so you won't find people grinding away anymore.

And slide down the hype meter eh?  Er, no, the game has been 7.0/7.1 for ages.

Hehe, I remember my old PC, even playing WoW I'd get a slight disk loading sound, only a soft tick, but it would always mean there was someone entering the area I was hunting in.

/vanish

The new system is all good though.  I've been in a few full-raid pvmp battles and it was all good.  Most on enemy side might have been 7 or 8 in one spot.. up by Goldie.  It was smooth there even with the mobs getting pulled into it, but I'm sure any more and it might have lagged on me.

what about the 2nd?

Some friend want to join game in 4.6(no pre-order key)

That I'm not sure about as I've been in beta for a while and haven't had to look at the application process for open beta (have my key).

I'd think it would be a matter of applying through the same link, but if he wants to be sure he might want to search the LOTRO main site boards for a direct quote.

I shouldn't be posting here as I can't compare, I have not played VG.  But I can give half an answer and my impression on EQ2:

Great game, beautiful graphics and enjoyable variety of races.  Collections and home-decoration are there for immersiveness, such as collecting books to build a library of your own, pets, or items from across the world to help you (in-house items that actually buff you).

The classes play well also, my favorites being Monk and Warden.  The newest addition to the landscape, home of the Fae, is an amazing place and feels very much alive.

There is PvP if you desire, although there is no pvp-centric content and you must look for fights.  As a Warden I enjoyed fighting anyone, and usually won (even +4).  That may be a sign of imbalance.

The PvE is nice, there are some interesting creatures to fight and the instances are done well.  The expansions they added have provided a wide range of places to hunt.

There is alot to be said, you will definately have some content to explore and will probably find yourself liking the game, most do.

I'm looking forward to the day when I can safely install VG and compare.. but for the record EQ2 was released with holes as well, such as the crafting prof I chose on release, all of the recipe books were empty - they just hadn't made any recipes for my craft.
