My guess is the investors are very pissed off because they got a loan for $38 million dollars in February expecting a million or more subscribers to have the funds to start repaying short term debt.  I'm also guessing with the resignation of a company founder, the money train that was suppose to be AoC has less than 100,000 concurrent subscribers left with no real way to start paying back the debt much recoup the $60 million it cost to make AoC.  Since he was a co-founder, he probaby has 50,000,000 or more shares of Funcom stock and all that is probably about to be dumped on the market.  Also, if the bulk of his shares are fully vested Stock OPTIONS, he will most likely single handly sink Funcom financials.  If those share options are worth $30 each and the going price is $8, Funcom eats $22 an option that Gaute owns.

I don't see much Fun @ Funcom in the near future.

Crap, someone please post this for me.  I don't know the language.

"Gaute did the right thing and resigned, Erling.  Now, when are you going to do the right thing and resign as well?"

If someone could ask that for me, it woudl be greatly appreciated.

It's not really that amazing for a game to have tons of people beta testing it, especially since any problems can be explained away with "it's beta".

Except you have to have preordered to beta test it right now...

This is a problem how?  Ever since the EQ days I've been preaching that they shouldn't let anyone in to closed beta either unless the testers work for the company or are paying for closed beta.  Too many free birds out there that refuse to pay to play any MMO and use beta to play games for free with no interest in helping the company improve the games.

I'm a MMORPGer, I buy and play all the games with at least one character to max level.  I can honestly tell you that WAR's release is the best release of any game since LOTRO.  Yes, there is SCN and PQ DC bug that reaches up DCing people about every 4 to 6 hours.  There is also a memory leak issue if you are on a lower end system.  Other than that, everything runs well.  Lag has yet to be an issue for me.  Loot is plentiful.  Gear isn't an issue.  You get XP regardless if you are PvPing or PvEing.  This is a win-win for PvEers and PvPers alike.  I highly recommend this game for anyone.

He didn't get forced out.  He left a sinking ship.

Morrison will now be the blame when Funcom goes under because AoC failed.

By the way, anyone seen AmazingAvery after the news broke that Gaute resigned?  Someone might want to send a doctor to check on him.

You know what this tells me?  Since Aventurine was so busy with ESWC, it caused a delay in the launch of DFO.  Read it here first folks....

I don't understand why they'd get wrapped up in something that huge when October is suppose to be the huge beta launch month.  I don't understand how they feel they need to be distracted during beta launch month.

This is one way of looking at this. I will just try to be happy that Aventurine is doing something.

Agreed.  Remember, Tasos assured us that without a doubt, DFO will launch this year.  December 31 is rapidly approaching.

So you saying if issue arise when betas starts they should delay and release a buggy game ok LMAO

if you want that go play AOC

Not at all.  I'm saying they should stick to DFO and not get side tracked with the Game Conference.  They don't need any excuse or distractions.  They are good at coming up with their own.  Do you honestly think if they get side tracked launch will happen this year?

No way in hell is Funcom worse then Sony. Obviously you werent part of SWG if your claiming that.

Learn you history and background of Lucas Arts.  SWG was more Lucas Art's disaster than Sony's.  Lucas Arts was pulling the strings, saw the cash cow of WoW, and squeezed SoE to do the entire NGE thing to capture the casual market like WoW has done.  Lucas Arts only cares for $$$$$$.

However it must give them a little sense of  satisfaction to know that they aren't the only gaming brand people are or were seriously upset with :)

Vanguard was SIGIL's failure, not Sony's.  Sony bought the company, stripped out the game and other valuable assets and shut SIGIL down.  Sony saved the game and is making some decent progress.

One more thing look at QEC.OL march 2008, it hit rock bottom...If you open that forex chart and look at march 2008 you will see that is EXACTLY when the US dollar passed the swiss franc.

So why did Funcom stock hit $55.50 (an all time high) shortly after????????????????

Because they hype had everyone believing it was the next WoW killer.  Then the wheels fell off, and the rest is history.  Now, I can't buy 2 20oz Cokes for the price of a share of Funcom stock.  By the end of next week, I won't be able to buy one 20oz Coke for the price of a share of Funcom stock.  The bottom has fallen out of it completely.  As soon as you see it go under 89 cents a share, it will turn into a strong sell and be heading for penny stock category.

This game will get shut down probably sooner than later. They did it with auto assault. This isn't SoE they don't keep a graveyard of failed MMO's alive with stupid all access memberships. NCsoft already said this game is a total financial disaster for them so why would want to pour any more money into it. If your still playing this game your wasting your time imo.

Correct me if I'm wrong here Skeptical, but isn't that the whole reason why we all play games, to waste time?

Using 4 cores, does that mean AoC would suck 4 times as much?  :)

Will the third and fourth core make the crafting system suck less?

Will they enable working endgame raid content, and add more of it?

Will they add missing mid-level content, reducing the grind?

Will more cores fix +dam gem abuse, balance the classes, and end one-shotting?

Is the PvP system already in the game, it just couldn't be used because it requires two more cores?

Will more cores stop the OOM errors that cause you to crash to desktop constantly?

Will they allow more variations in armor?

Will DX10 magically appear with the new quad core support?

Can drunken brawling be added only with the inclusion of 4 core technology?

Will the GUI suck less with more cores?

Will OOC chat finally work right with that all-important third and fourth core?

Will they make spellweaving less of a complete joke?

Will they enable Powerpoints?  Kingship?  Villages of mobs that grow stronger and attack your city if left unchecked?

These are just off the top of my head.  I'm sure the improved technology will do all of the above, and probably cure cancer, too.

Huzzah for quad core tech!!!

.... Ok, the game has a ton of issues.  While the info is mildly interesting, the fact remains that the game is seriously jacked up (not just broken, but boring), and not likely to be fixed with more freakin' cores.

Great questions.  I don't see quad core solving any of those problems in the least.  Again, they care more about what is running the game instead of the game itself.  I'm beginning to believe the PC version was just the test bed for the XBOX 360 version.

For some reason, the MMORPG crowd hates Darkfall.

This is why it will be soo sweet to see it #1 on the anticipation scale.  Of course until they find some reason to remove it again *cough* lowering size of list *cough*

Good point.  The MMORPG community (as a whole) has always hated World of Warcraft as well.  Thinking about it, that could speak very well for the future of Darkfall Online.  Guess we'll know next month.

Q1 figures next year will be blamed on HKO.

Now that would be funny as hell, Hello Kitty Online being the knock out blow for Funcom and AoC.
