Aoc combat was innovativie to me as it needed skills in pvp rather than loading your skills and spells by pressing 1,2,3,4,5.

I played a melee character and it was great, the way you had to double step backwards or sidewards etc to avoid swings of other characters weapons etc or to laod up specific buffs to help you survive for a few more seconds.  The combo system was great and at times pulling of the combos were hard due to being outnumbered or even stunned and rooted on the last action of the combo, but atleast  most fights were very different every time.  Its a shame failcom lied and turned this game into an instance based empty game or i still wouldve been playing it.

Age of Conan couldve been one of the best games of all time but funcom turned it into the shambles it is now. For that they deserve an award this year from MMORPG for being the most  faggiest developer around.

yep we all have opinions, even official reviews are based on opinions nowadays. Just hope WAR doesnt get reviewed by any Jedi's on this site and im sure this game will do fine.

I wouldn't say the combat system has been dumbed down. You now get penalized for "preloading" combos (with fancy red/green indicators telling you which of the hits connected and which did not), you can't spam the double tap backwards dodge to become invincible anymore, damage is reduced across the board to make fights go on longer, and a healing reduction debuff mechanic has been added into the mix.

The only thing that's been made less complex is the length of combos.

Hmm thats a shame, that really helped while you were outnumbered against a group.

Yep its the best game in the whole wide world if you have a bot program, just cruise the way to max level while watching videos on youtube.

I think these two sentences are much better than the whole two pages of what Jedi Jeff wrote.

NIce writing skills, they should hire you as a reviewer on this site.

F= Funcom.

Cant wait for this game , i have been following it for like a year and a half already.  Im not sure if they will be able to pull it off though. Hope they do, just the idea of a GTA type mmo seems brilliant, no more blowing up npcs with rocket launchers or running them over, haha real players that would be great. : D.

I thought it might be a neat idea for Turbine to offer accounts for Monsterplay only, for those people that might like to play it regularly without the rest of the game. Turbine could allow accounts for about $5.99 a month for people who only want to play as Creep, and market this to all the multiplayer-games sites. It would be brilliant to release it on Valve's Steam client, for example (company name was made for this partnership!) This would really keep the Moors alive, and make end-game constantly exciting for players. There could even be an optional "freep-generator" for creeps to play as/against (with lesser rewards than PC freeps) when they want to (bring back those Fell Scrying Pools creepside).

Integrating it with the full LotRO PvE game could give you two superior products for the development of one! This would give Turbine an extra revenue stream to improve PvMP without cutting into LotRO's PvE resource time and budget, adding new PvMP zones and instances etc.. Not to mention Monsterplay could be a fantastic advertisement tool for players who might want to check out the full game.

This is the best idea i have read in a while, i would definately subscribe to one of those accounts

One bad decision by GG and the game was completely ruined.

This patch should have been the last patch of the open beta.  The offical release of the game should have been Nov 1st.

Read the warhammer forums.. the game is going down in flames.. people are even posting on the WOW forums that they are coming back to WOW because warhammer is so bad.   If AOC had been released NOW all those pvp type players would be flocking to it, and they would have gotten a reasonably stable and content filled game.

Instead, I doubt very many warhammer refuges will give AOC a chance because of the negative first impressions from June and from the negative attitude from most ex-players.

Developers need to stop trying to be 'tricky' and instead just release your game when it is fun and playable.  Both Warhammer and AOC tried to 'beat' someone to the market and both are going to die a rather rapid death ( death =  less than 100k subscribers).

No way!! the last patch for open beta should have been the direct X 10 they promised on the damn bloody box. Funcom is where it is now becuase of their lies and not because of the game.

i played this game for like one hour and then said..."meh id rather play final fantasy 7" the bloody battles take like forever, i dont know maybe its just me but i could guess there and then that this game will be very repetitive, just imagine a turn based RPG game without a storyline and all you do is kill groups of mobs the same way each time...and it iz zo zzzzzzzzzzlow.

Fun discovery made, if you pick up a crafting advancement quest after the patch, ALL other recipes in your crafting book will vanish.

O.0 here come the bugs, maybe you have to wait till the next patch before they are gonna fix this, brings back a lot of old memories.

One thing i dont understand with this game is, why the hell dont they just send out a small autopatch to fix these problems, why do you have to wait a few weeks till it is corrected.

Wow another thread on this about the Review that Jeff wrote, what now? Im sure he regrets writing it or something but knock it off guys, what are you trying to do? Kill the poor guy because he called the fanbase hairy apemen after getting owned by some random guy.

Actaully thats not a bad idea, get the stakes ready and light the campfire tonight we are going to feast on Jedi's.

I understand what you're saying, I'm not trying to light a fire underneath this guys ass, even though it might seem so. Honestly it's the only conversation really going on.

However,I don't think this thread was intended to be just about Jef's review, rather mmorpg's review system as a whole. Any way you look at it it's pretty screwed up at the moment.

To many games mixed together from different era's, it's really not telling you the full story on the current  market, or where those older games stand in it.

So true...the quality of reviews seem to be going downhill. For example if you refer to the mentioned Review that is being talked about atm then we can see that a games review should be based on things like Graphics, Sound, U.I, Interaction with a whole group of people and not just 1 bloodthirsty ganker.
