It wasn't always like this.

The first months of WoW were quite open. It was only later with the battlegrounds and Molten Core/BWL raids going "mainstream". Then the game took a more defined way to develop your character. The past 'raid or die' way, or the current 'pvp arenas for easy purplz' (talk about changing the main focus of a game...).

The reputation grind never was a problem at the beginning, entirely voluntary, except in a few very specific points like opening the AQ gates, or getting access to Naxx. But that was much past the release time. Where reputation grind got 'bastard' is in the BC expansion, where it forms a big part of the content.

They promptly realized the mistake with so much instancing grind and access requirements, and deleted many raid access keying along with lowering grind for heroics access, for example. Which proofs they are not completely stupid at blizzard.

And hopefully WoW will change so much more in the next big expansion. They got something right changing the main 'raiding' focus of the game to the 'pvp arenas'. Now they need to take a step further and develop an open pvp with fortress and siege war system. You can be sure the next Warh. comming has something to do with it. But, will this be alright with the current players?

Though, one thing you could do if you were so inclined would be to level both together. However, I wonder if there are players who might consider a buffer if they has someone to party with.
In the end, the game is about clans/alliances. I say, find a good clan or alliance that will help you in a way they deem fair, and play what you want. Blade Dancers can solo fairly well because of their buffs so you should be ok.

If you don't want to gimp yourself, choose a main, and then an appropriate buffer to help level up your main. It'll be much faster at the end of the day, and then you can use your own high level buffer to help level up your subclasses. Or even better, get hold of a high level buffer since the beginning and play it out of party. Buffs are very important in this game, you are nothing without them.

In case you can find someone playing a buffer as main and able to be after your ass 24/7, then you don't need the 2nd account buffer :)

In my opinion, if you've got to play lineage 2 retail then play it 'pro', it takes too much time though... Else it's not worth it and you'll get nowhere.

As you've been explained, the xp/level is not quite linear ;)

This was very interesting, and destroys the myth where asian gamers == grinders by blood.

I think that anyone who got into beta knew that this wasn't an "UO in space" sandbox game. Which would have been marvellous, but since the beginning we knew what we had on our hands was a quest guided pve only game.

About the beta itself, I think it's a bad idea to have so many people on it when the game is having so many changes. It creates FUD. This also applies to the live version btw :p

I'm sure that with a bit of order and firm hand the developers can recover the game (a sad thing to say after release) and bring it where they want. But it won't be easy. The release wave has already passed. I still don't know what the game will try to be looking like for the next 6 months... there is simply no reliable information about the upcoming, other than the vehicles patch.

In the beta boards, the devs published a damn long TODO list full of features, some implemented, others in part, mooost of them unchecked. But there wasn't any known order or priority of these features implementation in the future (i.e. a roadmap), and there isn't yet known to the public.

As of now, they only thing I want to add is that it needs lots more of content (new content from that TODO list) and adjustments (to the already existing content: rethink of abilities without "raging" the community, more quests...). And to give something to the (ex-)players to look forward to.

Instances have shown they can vary in style and complexity as well. I can't speak for the game beyond where I am currently except to say that a number in my clan are 43+ in lvls and still playing.

You cannot say with a straight face that the contents from levels 30 onwards have the same polish than the contents from levels 1-20~.

TR tries to be a PvE quest guided environment, and so it needs to cover all the leveling process, not only the two first weeks of casual playing.

No one plays a Dwarf to pvp. It's unfortunate, sure, but they are there for crafting and gathering mats.

Dwarf PvP in retail, and repeat that again. It takes some balls, that's true:

http://www.megaupload.com/es/?d=3776D0WK

Remember, any experience in private L2 servers is quite different from retail. In retail there aren't spammable MP pots or 'ala' Counter Strike server mods.

Overall, while the whole system with clan wars, castle sieges, conquerable fortresses... is quite nice, the game mechanics and community could have been much improved. That includes targeting system, whole years of grind before real highend, *majority* of ebayers and bots, whole chinese farming clans due to crazy crafting requirements, auto-aim and map layout hacks... L2 was good the first year, but went (is going) downstairs due to bad support. Here and in Korea.

A General chat channel for the *whole* server and active by default doesn't help much against the trashtalking. In the European server the main topics are WoW-sücks, PVPclan-looking-for-members and "is predatory bugged?". I wouldn't like my mother to read that chat...

It's not you. It's the game where once you get to Plains things get much harder. Quest and mob distribution across the zone needs work.

Personally I don't agree.

There are multiple instances of every zone which you can choose at the teleporters. Each zone is tagged with the estimate load (low/full) so you know it. For the people who do not play, think about it as mirrors of the same zone all interconnected by the teleporters (a la Granado Espada).

In this case, one possibility is to setup more instances of the full loaded zones (mainly the low level ones), which is what they are doing.

Some high levels are having lots of lag, but they are in low population zones O:)

TR needs rather high requirements, and all new prebuilt computers at most stores ship with Vista, which means....... problem.

As far as I know pvp is limited to duels and two-way declared clan wars. There are promises to 'develop the pvp system', but who knows what that means.

About the pvp itself, I won most duels I did because of the piercing weapon I had (which ignores part of your shield, OP), otherwise the duel wouldn't have ended as we did regen faster than we damaged the shields. Unfortunately I couldn't test it anymore because I got out of ammo and money veery fast.

But if you are a good guy and only kill the elpis and poobies, then I'm sure you'll have plenty of ammo :) It was a problem at low levels, but once you begin to make a bit of money around level 15+ it finishes being a problem. Bad design in my opinion. Low levels shouldn't have ammo problems.

There are cases of people getting charged after they canceled their accounts. Even getting charged after an account ban. More funny, there are cases of _not_ getting charged for the month :) And not funny, there are cases of people getting the account banned because ncsoft messed up and thought the CC was stolen.

Bill support is messy at ncsoft, and you should be careful with that. You might delete your CC information at once when you cancel the account, and pay month by month. The best you can do is use pre-paid cards if you can get hold on them.

Maybe it's changed, but in beta you could go to the teleport and change between instances of the same map much like in 'Granado Espada'. For example: wilderness1, wilderness2, wilderness3,etc... If your map is overcrowded, try to get into another instance of the same map.

Yes, it's sad but quite common in all these Asian import games. The Asian players are the first to come, powerlevel their chars (since they know how it works) and monopolize the market. In my opinion it cries out for an IP ban for certain zones of the world.

I can only say that NCSoft-NA has the *worst* customer service that _ever_ existed on Earth. I wouldn't play any of their games just for this.

In a world where there are more bots than legit players at any given time. Where the vaaast majority do ebay. While thousands of chinese (and not chinese...) bots are populating the catacombs and dungeons, I got my dwarf banned.

It was an account with a lvl 1 dwarf who I only used for sell shop at town. Hell, I even was doing it with the official client so that they wouldn't ban him. But... papaaaam! ban hammer on the dwarf with 400m adena on him.

So, their GMs don't know the difference between a bot and a legit player. And when they ban you they don't even send and email of any explanatory notice. You just cannot login and when checking the account detail... oh, "banned".

A game where it takes so much time and effort to get anywhere loses any value with such a poor support.

Oh, and don't ask my the reason of the ban. I still don't know it.

Is this an apology of the solo gaming, or an anti-raiding thread?

Raiding becomes boring fast. I don't care if the game is solo or group based, but no one tells me how to play or when or what to do with my char. When my gaming timetables in WoW became more rigid than my real work I knew two things for sure: first that I didn't need an extra job, and second that I wasn't having any fun.
