WoW sucks when it comes to PvP. Dark Age of Camelot had a better PvP system. Games should adopt that one. Mythic (now EA Mythic) is doing Warhammer Online now and havent forgot the "badassness" of DAoC pvp/rvr. If you want good pvp with good pve id sugest trying Warhammer Online when it comes out. People give WoW a very high prase but I think most of them have never played other mmo's. Dont get me wrong, its a good game but most of its success is due only to the fact its a "warcraft" game. I have played mmo's since text based MUD's and went on to graphic based ones like UO, EQ, DAoC, WoW, GW, AO, ect ect.. you get the point.. have played most of the well known ones and many small timers. All are good games in thier own right but out of all of them, DAoC had the best pvp imo and if you didnt want to do pvp you didnt have to. You could run around your own realm an still have a kick ass time with pve with no worry about getting ganked, only doing pvp if you wanted by going to battlegounds, frontiers an all that good stuff. Best balance of pvp/pve of any of the mmo's I have played. Mythic games are where its at, so... COME ON WARHAMMER ONLINE! ;)

EA will kill this game if it doesn't produce stellar numbers which I doubt it will. I wouldn't waste my time playing a game backed by EA. Their record is craptacular at best. But time will tell I guess.

Isn't this the game that's been in development for like a bazillion years???   If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

If a game comes out, lets say AoC. On the box it clearly states the system requirments. If I match the req exactly and the game runs like crap isn't that false advertising? At the very least you could get a refund, but if I bought a gun and on the box it said "If you meet the requirments you wont kill anyone" and you kill someone..somebody is getting sued.

Dont know if thats the best analogy, but you get my drift. Vanguard was a classic example of false advertising. Can PC game companies be held accountable for this? Or do they get a free pass due to there being loose laws or no law governing this? Maybe some fine print in the EULA when you first install protects them?

No you cannot sue, and how would you know how AoC runs out of the box anyways, since it's still 12 days before release. People really need to quit complaining about a beta, it's really getting dispressing look at this site, much less these forums. And you might want to re-read what false advertisement is.

If someone can sue for receiving "hot coffee" (ala Micky D's) and burning themslef, yeah you can sue. You just have to find an opportunistic lawyer (which shouldn't be hard). GL!!

The MMO market isn't saturated at all IMO. However, the fantasy mmo market is flooded beyond belief. There's only so many ways I can swing a sword.... The next "big" mmo will be one of a non-fantasy genre.

Clearly aimed at discounting WoW but you can't discount their subscriber base - must be doing something right. Time will tell if AoC will be a successful MMO or not.

- WOW was so bug-free and complete

Thats not true. It is today very stable. But so are most other MMOs that still run. Even Vanguard is very stable now, even if the polish there seems to be not finished yet; for example, they currently fight against hitching.

- WOW is easy and carebearish

Thats true. OK I'm not in position to have it experienced myself, but I heard it from every being that has played WoW.

Of course PvP is harder. But thats because you fight against humans. Thats not unique to WoW. And WoW raids arent better than raids in other games, for all I know. Quite on the contrary.

- WOW is for kids only

Its not for kids only - but it CAN BE PLAYED BY KIDS. Something thats much harder in other games.

- WOW is playable by EVERY computer

Thats true.

- WOW has wiped out all non-fun elements

Ok now thats very subjective. Again, I havent played the game myself, but from what I've heard, WoW contains faction grinds like any other MMO out there, and it contains an endless raiding endgame.

- WOW offers something for all ranges of difficulty

Nope. Definitely not. Thats a major complaint about the game.

- WOW always has a new, higher toy to fight for

Errm... I guess so. Because all MMOs have that - no ?

But in fact, WOW doesnt deliver that much new - I heard they still have no housing, for example. So its all down to new dungeons and stuff again.

- The WOW world is easy to get into

Maybe. More importantly, it is beginner friendly, for all I heard about it.

How do you comment on a game you obviously never played???

As an ex-EnB player that was "offered" a free disc to play when EnB closed, I too say adios!!!! Still a sour spot with me and any MMO EA is involved with.

I donno bout other ppl...but when I decide I wanna play a game...first I check out the games homepage, READ the faq, look at screenshots/movies, read the forums for any aditional info I missed...Then I will post a comment if I can't find some important info.

I guess the kiddies are too lazy to read.

My sentiments exactly

You're going to get both sides of the fence here. I prefer XP due to it's compatibility and it is less resource intensive. Vista is a little too flashy, resource heavy, and clunky for me. I'd stear clear of Vista and wait for the next flavor. But to each his own.

If you want to see how some people react to Vista, here you go: http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/04/14/microsoft.xp.ap/

I agree with the previous posters. Without levels, you have a FPS type game. Levels will never be gone from MMO's imo. Why are levels bad? You have levels in real life... you dont know as much at age 10 as you do at age 20. The same principal applies here.

I agree - kinda scary. Keep your expectations low and you're less likely to be disappointed.

Don't hold out hopes that this will increase the playerbase by that much if any. While this does seem like a missing part of the game, it has no impact on the gameplay at all really.

Making this game hardcore PvP alienates so much of the market. Why shoot yourself in the foot when you're out to make money? My still all-time favortie MMO was EnB and it had zero PvP. Granted, at some times I wish it did. If I wanted hardcore PvP I would be playing Eve (and yeah I played that for a while but it was so tremendously boring). IMO, PvP really works when there's no real penalty for dying (maybe time or XP or equipment durability ala EnB or other intangables like that). When you venture into the realm of losing your ship or equipment for dying, the game becomes a little too like reality for me. I have enough reality in my life. I play games to have fun. Regardless of what happens, I'll try JGE. Whether or not I stay depends on the game itself.

Keep in mind that JGE will be out to make money first and foremost. So if they dont cater to PVE in some way, form, or fashion, it will likely go the road of the original (small fan-base, etc). There's already a PVP-centric space MMO on the market so why wouldn't JGE use this opportunity to try and draw in some of the PVE market? If JGE can make both sides satisfied, this game stands a great chance to draw in people who are tired of sword-swinging MMO's. Personally, I prefer more PvE over PvP but the ability to PvP is fun too. It's just hard to PvP with a cig in one hand and a beer in the other  But I'm going to try this game regardless because I love space MMO's and this game just looks too cool!

I too agree that it's refreshing to see a Dev post!!  And I very much like the screenshots..

I thought it was fun too. But there's nothing to do really other than get each class to 50. I got 3 toons to 50 then had enough and left. I really wish developers wouldn't release games before they're done.

For questions about the PC specs, I tried it on a 6 year old PC to see if it would work and it did - just turn the settings to low. 2.5 GHz P4 with 1GB of RAM. I wouldn't try to play it with anything less though ;)

Too bad about the trial accounts :(
