For like the last like 9 months or so I've been enjoying folk music or at least songs that take their roots from them. Just figured I share a few of the more interesting ones I've come across. New fold actually has some very interesting sounds to it since the artists are pretty willing to mix technology with their stuff some even singing with recordings of their own voice. (all links go to youtube)
The first one takes a very old celtic poem and translates it to english. Even if you don't like the singer the lyrics are still very interesting. Though the aritist decides to sing it differently than everyone else. here
Just the year sung like a fairytail here
And then just a bit of Enya if you got this far grats. here
Granted I can't put links to some of the stuff since it's obviously not a youtube and I'm not going to rip music streams to post it their either. Either way enjoy. |

The identical zeal you'd find in 'world of everclone' fans and the same delusions that every game must have this or that type that that developers have fallen into. |

Only allow people to get halfway up levels in the game along with reletivly fast leveling, each skill only having 10 levels. With a full combat build using a dozen or so abilities from 3-15 skills while crafting uses 2-3 for harvesting and up to 3-4 for refining/making intermediary items and 3-5 for making the finished item. Whith decent bonuses for getting higher/max in skills starting with accessing guild specific areas and crafting tools to being able to take on apprentices.
Then add some 'adjusting' cash drains by being able to lease an unistanced house/shop/guild hall in the cities. They go up for auction every week/month/longer depending on the particular lease with the previous owner getting a multiplier effect on the next auction(also depending on the lease).
Then the real income comes from selling premium time, along with having the free unlimited trial(no boxes). However the only deviation from the normal is that instead of premium time being directly applied to your account you instead get an item in your inventory which can be used to to apply the premium time to your character or can be traded to other players so they can use it as such.
The end system pretty much achieves something along the lines of this: very few newbie areas needed due to the fact that there is pretty much only mid level and high level(onlying needing to level 3-5 skills out of the approimently 120 to reach the 'power tier) allowing the designers to focuse on that content. This same leveling system also takes out a great deal of grind since most goals are pretty short term even if you want to get a dozen done. The 'adjusting' cash drains serve two purposes they provide a max level 1337-factor that adjusts to players expectations, so if a million gold isn't much a lot the houses will still be out of reach of those same a lot of people. At the same time those that do lease the houses are remove a great deal of money from the game. The ability to trade premium time also provides a way for people to support the game real money wise by doing so through a sponser(who most likely sold the premium time). By being free to start and for a good deal to play you also give yourself a playerbase that will grow and be self hyping. and lastly the mechanic of trading premium just blatently kills RWTers without ever needing to adjust game mechanics or unbalancing the Economy |

So I went to google to lazy to rember warhammers website. Just typed in plain old 'war' no caps or anything else. And mythics website came up as number one on the list.
Google uses standard text searching along with a compilation of where other people with similar search queries went.
Just though it'd be interesting to mention. |

Oh yes you can do a lot of stuff with a secondlife like engine. Pretty much morph your character into a dragon that's the size of a house if you really wanted to and were clever enough to work with and around the creation system. Occasionally you can even end up finding stuff that looks better than stuff you see in a lot of MMOs.
Granted that goes way to far for what I'd want to see in an MMO, just being able to custimize the stats and modify the skin a bit is enough for me. for crafting not with fricking sliders but rather with the materials used and processes used. |

There are so many developers tools for any game that it's not funny. If a game wasn't automated in any way shape or form everything(graphics and whatever else) would be made in notepad. You can also make your programs in notepad as well.
Basically we aren't in the 60's anymore |

The main reason a game takes that long is if you have to do a recode or two, which tosses everything out the window except for the developement experiance your team got and maybe some art assests if you can convert them.

Oh yes FFA PvP with looting is not remotely a sandbox mechanic at all. After all you're limiting people choices of how they'll play in the world, what gear they'll take, and how they'll willingly interact with people. Just far too limiting, not sandbox at all. It goes both ways One mans lack of limits is another's limit. It's really really shortsighted to think that a game can only be made one way and one way only. Just as narrow minded as what we're seeing with world of everclone games. _____________ Seriously a sandbox is completely summed as a world where you have multiable forms of advancement and ways to affect the game world, including forms outside of what a vast majority of people will do. It's perfectly understandable that an intelligent developer who sees more than a player would would be able to make a sandbox game without PvP combat which is the only thing that counts for most people. |

That really isn't a lot of information. what did you like most/least about games played.
I would personally send ya to guild wars since it does have(had better in past versions) good PvP, and the main stories while cliche are brillent for an MMO with cutscenes and voice acting. All in all not a bad game that you shouldn't power through too quickly with your play schedule.
But it's also tossing a stone in the dark since you've said so little. |

I fired my first Rifle when I was 12, though I have not ever touched a hand gun(just like a vast majority of Wisconsin liberals). I assure you I don't have thoughts of rampaging through a school. As for kids with guns incidents they're really just irresposible guardian iccidents, parents should be charged in court for their failing.
As for the father nothing should happen really just a misunderstanding and tresspassing for the most part. |

Having to get into combat is a last resort its failing to stay undected. Any good ninja knows that you must be unseen, unheard, and unfelt. As for why you're more worried about combat impact I'm completely mystified, you should never be in a fight and the closest thing to a fight you should ever be in is putting a dagger in the back of your marks neck.
(sorry sorry just messing with you couldn't help it)
I'm more likely to notice the crafting system, story content(tasks aren't story), and the skill depth. Especially over looks, I mean seriously I've played wurmonline. As for combat speed I'll take slower combat anyday of the week over activating 50 instant casts in a row. Wurmonline NO sense of impact NO sense of sound (though there is some) and pretty much just no. |

jumping a lol coptering is something I avoid. You can literally set up a fricking bot to do it in a short while. However you can't set up a bot to make tactical decisions, to intuitivly know what the enemies next move is based on the current situation and personality that you've seen so far, and one that knows when to pull out an ace. |
