Complexity in an MMO keeps things interesting.  It keeps your attention Long-term.

When Star Wars Galaxies "dumbed down" the character complexity and development, it became an 'arcade feel' which kills any desire to develop the character and play the game long term.

Funcom should of learned from Anarchy Online. It had implants, and skills and alot of stuff to do when you level up.  Instead they went a different way with AoC and they are having problems with long term subscribers.

I just dont want to see every level 10 Jedi the exact same.  I guess thats my point.

agree or no?

all this is a very early stage of graphics, but I am so relieved they are going away from the cartoony version.

I really enjoyed those two Vampire games, excellent story writing and characters, with interesting classes.

I would like to see an MMO, as a cross between thsoe games and the movei Underworld.  You could have NPCs as the humans.  They would be in the majority and equally hating Vampires and Werewolves.  Then you can have the two underworld clans (vamps and Lycan) fighting it out.  PvP with wolves vs. vamps.

The possiblitys would be endless.

The grass and flowers move around.  Even flags and banners sway in the wind!

Water ripples as you pass through it.  Stuff really flows, and player animations are just awe inspiring.

I've seen Vanguard and AoC at max settings.  Vanguard has impressive environmental graphics and draw distance, with great terrain and an awesome looking sky.  The models however are pretty plain, and very very stiff. The animations just arent done very well.

AoC is actually on par with Vanguards great environmental graphics. But AoCs animations are head and heals better. The models are much better with the detail of the faces too.  The grass moves more lifelike and the water, although very nice in Vanguard, is just the best. Theres some areas of high grass and flowers moving around thats just so cool in AoC.  The water though, WOW.

The big thing is the animations.  When you jump straight up, side to side, while moving in Vanguard, the upper body is pretty stiff and looks the same with the legs moving a bit.  In Aoc, the body shifts around, looks different while running, compared to standing still and jumping, moving side to side.  WOW.  its just amazing!

AoC does NOT feel like WoW AT ALL.

Infact, I would venture to say, AoC has a VERY original feel too it.  I'm not going to get into why.

Yes.  PvP on a PvP server is 'kill everyone you see at all times'. This includes when your questing or see NPCs.

PvP on a PvE server is organized PvP.  It has capture the skull, last man standing, drunkin brawling. But more importantly, has the guild vs guild PvP in the Battlekeep zones.

If you like to deathmatch in FPS games, you might like the PvP server.  If you like counterstrike, or team fortress, then try PvE.

There is a dirty little secret.  PvE server has PvP  gameplay in it.

I'm a beta tester as well.   My FPS is very good, and I have alot of smoothness overall at high settings.

I disagree with the original post about animations.  I believe they are excellent.  The movements and details of the characters are terrific. Just run and jump and watch the entire body react, its amazing.

Combat gets better and better. As you level, options open up. You also have a skill tree.  You start with 3 skills that you can put points in, when you lvl 25 you have around 12, etc.

The instancing is very well done and not too excessive.  Its there to keep the lag down, and improve FPS in instanced zones.

The UI is good. but the chat box leaves alot to be desired.  I want to move it around but cant, and I just dont like the look.  Other than that I dont have complaints.

Graphics.  just Awe  inspiring.  Best water, fog, smoke graphics in any game ever.  The models are excellent.  The environments look as good as Vanguard, in some cases better.

Sound.  Best sound in any MMO ever.  The quality of sound is top notch. The music has a "feel" about it, like your in medieval times.  The sound effects are real sounding.  I was running along side a hill, and was just listening to a player fight a monstor over the hill.  I could not see him, but it sounded wicked. It was like "ruhhh!  ahhh, squish....ching chank......" then the birds twirping in the background.  It really immersed me.

I thought I read a POSSIBLE solution somewhere.  Something like deleting a certain file.  Patcher.exe or conan.exe or something, not sure.  I believe the forum was on tentonhammer.

Sorry your having frustrating issues, you'll get it resolved.

theres a segment of beta testers that are hyped out kiddies. So cracked out they beta test every game on te market and loud mouth.  Come a month after release time, they should die down.

I recomend a PvE server.  It sounds like you want to quest when your doing a quest and not get interupted with PvP.  People dont seem to realise that theres a TON of PvP elements on a PvE server.

PvP server is if you like to deathmatch all the time.  On a PvE server, the PvP elements are organized, its much better.

The game runs smooth, and the graphics look great.  Infact, one patch they had last month, improved the graphics 50%.  The latest version of the game isnt even out in beta yet, I'm stoked, having a blast already.

This is definatly not the Vanguard beta I was in.  :-)

Im really really liking this game so far.  The 2 4gig patches they had worked wonders.  Its fun factor is high.....and the Volcano quest....oh man, one of the best quests I ever played.

I agree with the OP.  I just lost interest rather quickly,  and i had a positive attitude going in.  The classes seem very uninteresting and just doesnt seem immersive.

In some ways the graphics are pretty good, but in other ways, like the character models, dont seem so hot. The good "feel" of the game, just isnt there.

To the OP.

think about it this way.  You pay $10 for a 2 hour movie.  You pay $40 for a day at the fair. You pay $5 for a beer at a bar.

as for paying for an MMO. You get alot of entertainment time per dollar.
