Exactly he has show YET AGAIN..that he is out of touch with reality.

Item Mall = FAIL!

Microtransaction Content = FAIL!

Being out of touch with potential customers = Epic FAIL!

This is the last nail in the coffin for SOE MMOs, they are beyond help and doomed to failure.  This will be their last forte into the genre for a long time.

A perfect example of which is AoC on every count.

So that time of year has come round again, when all the fanbois get round the campfire and sing songs of the great darkfall and how it will release this year.

They should really make this an annual holiday or something, or more correctly a religious holiday?  Every time they announce the release of this game (lol) , there seems to be less and less fanbois singing its praises.

Maybe in time the children of the fanbois will take up the torch and their children after them and so on.  The darkfall legacy will live on no doubt when all of us are dead and buried and still they will come together each year and claim that, YES!, darkfall is coming out THIS year and the rest of the world is wrong.

So a thousand years from now, when the Earth is a global greenhouse of dust, the last man standing  may lay dying, and holding in his hand  a  scribbled note  with the words, "darkfall is coming....soon!"

Now of course you can't really do any real crafting until 40(what an utterly stupid idea to delay crafting until 40) so there might be some decent crafting items that come about.

Have to say I disagree with this here.  You shouldn't craft till higher levels anyway.  It gives you time to learn the game when just starting from a gameplay perspective and allows you to learn the lay of the land/people from a roleplay standpoint.

Or does one think you should know how to craft suits of armour when just starting your way in the world?  If anything it would involve using sticks and plants to form together very basic things.

You start with a character who can't remember their past as far as I know.  Least that's how it is for my Cimmerian conqueror.

Obviously your not a crafter as you show NO knowledge of why people craft.  Anyone that needs 40 levels of gameplay before they 'learn' the game should be in a rubber room not let loose in the general population.

It's not that hard LOL

As a crafter you like crafting and therefore wish to start your crafting career as soon as possible in a game, we have the brains to learn the game before 40 levels.

Your post is absolute garbage and plucked out of thin air.

IMO I think the world is limited due to the game being release on the Xbox.  Funcom have shackled themselves to the Xbox's limitations.  It's a shame I think AoC would have been amazing and pushed more boundries if it was developed as a PC title only. As it is AoC is a fun game, but not a great game.

Totally agree, you can always tell when a game developer is thinking more about console sales than pc sales when you see the product.

AoC feels like a console game and has all the limitations that consoles impose, the combat systems is not a revolution it is a simplyfied console version of normal MMO combat, its a big con and many people fell for the hype.

Maybe there all sick of trying to persuade delusional fanbois that darkfall will NEVER be released.

I swear this game has become a religious cult, and you guys are way beyond saving. :)

Oh well I suppose its a free cult if nothing else the only thing this mythical product is costing you is your sanity.  Poor fanbois, waiting for the second coming, lets hope theres not a mass cult suicide when its finally cancelled. :P

After Vanguard fiasco, I think hat many companies have seriously reconsidered their release quality and schedules.

I am amazed that Funcom seem to be one of the few to ignore the new 'expected standards' in MMO releases.

Either they are hoping to get away with it or they just don't care about their customers, either way they are living in the past.

No, Rahzphen, I'm saying they are WRONG. Saying that the game is more single player than multiplayer? Thats obviously wrong, since lvl 1-20 counts as practically nothing out of the rest of the player's experience. It's more multiplayer - and thats a fact. End of story.

Also, I am NOT a fanboi, by saying that this game is good.

Also, saying that the game is linear when the player hasnt even got past the story curve (lvl 1 - 20) is completely illogical. For god sake, for the people that review ANY game, play through it first before making false statements. This is what's annoying me.

I hope you see this too, take a look at some of the recent reviews of AoC on this site on the Ratings section..

You'll find that people have most likely leveled to about level 12 - 15 and given up because they did not have the patience to get past a story curve / tutorial. These people shouldn't be reviewing the game as they know nothing about it compared to the people who actually bothered to play the game enough to be worthy enough of writing a fair review.

U are completely wrong. Why should a person who does not anjoy his 1st 10 hrs in a game keep on playing it. In AoC 10 hrs mean he hasen't even gotten out of the story mode yet. Then again others will probably not have the patience to endure 15 hrs of boring gameplay just to get out of the 1-20 story mode. So perhaps i am in those who will not make it out of tortage either. Why should u deprive me of the possibility to indentify myself with another person with whom i may coinncide in my opinions about what i like in a game, and thus force me to spend 50$ to try the game out.

People who were too disapointed to continue after lvl 15 have as much right to talk and warn others as the people who love the game and plan to play a long time after they hit lvl 80.

I hope my post made sence since my english i sucking badly lately

Great post, why should people not be allowed to post reasons why they don't like the game? If the game is dull and small and plain crap for the first 20 levels then that is a GOOD reason not to continue playing.

Saying "oh the game gets better later on" just doesnt cut it in todays market, and show bad design and bad implementation.  Seems logical to me.

High End graphics cannot guarantee a successful game but they CAN break a game.

Aim too high and the majority can't play it at an acceptable level of detail without game breaking lag.

If you started with EQ or UO, this progression (or is it regression) is horrible.

If you started with WOW, you might like the superior eye candy of later games and be partially conditioned to follow some trail of bread crumbs.

If you started with AOC, you are in love because AOC is a big step up from Oblivion.

How is AoC a step up from oblivion??

Oblivion is far superior to AoC is almost everyway, especially with size of areas and content oblivion kicks AoCs ass several times over.

Your argument fails. So? I'm not like the average kid who types like crap and when you look at it, its too ambiguous to comprehend. So, I use a word that the average kid isn't supposed to use, doesn't mean I'm not a kid. Just means I am intellectually superior to my peers. I have the grammar, spelling, and vocabulary of an english minor...

There are some 12 year olds that are already in college, how the hell do you explain that?

Video games make you smart, its srs business /end sarcasm.

I just have good grammar, spelling, and a vocabulary because I pay attention in school. i als0 h@te tpyling liek dis !f u tpye liek dis u shot u self in tha hed cuz u a retard. I just don't like typing like that because it puts your mind into a state of decadence. Next thing you know you're writing 1337 speak on your english exam, and, your mom is pissed at you for getting an F in english.

Remember people, don't believe the stereotype "All kids lack intellectual power and they're all retards"

Age does not judge intellectual power, you should all know that by now.

GG.

I'll agree with you to an extent.  While age does not judge "intellectual power" overall, it has something to di with it.  Most of the kids, who LIKE TO TALK IN BIG LETERES END MEKE SPALLIEN EROORS ROFL are in a younger age group.  While there are matue kids, more of the immature crowd reflects on younger/teenage years.

Also, if you're 12, why does your profile say you're 18?

Probably so he doesn't get fools checking his profile everytime he makes a post and judging him by his date of birth.

I applaud him.  It's time people starting to realise that an age rating on a game will most likely have the opposite effect to its original intent.

If a 12 year old hears about a game with gore, violence, nudity, sex.  They are going to WANT to play it, surely you realise that?

When most of us were young we would also want to play it, its human nature.

Makes me laugh when people say AoC will have less kids because of the rating..don't these numptys realise that its BECAUSE of what that rating entails that the game will attract MORE kids than other games.

LOL this guy says 1-5 haven't played the game then says he gives it a 'first day impression' score of 9.  HAH! classic fanbois.

How about anyone who rates this 1-5:

- Has played the game more than 'first day impressions'

- Doesn't like instanced games

- Doesn't like small linear zones

- Thinks the combat is a gimmick which becomes dull REAL fast.
