I pre-ordered from D2D as well, solely based on the fact that they were linked from the US version, and stated that the EU version would get the same pre-order bonuses.

I wouldn't worry about what GOA said, they don't know their ass from their elbow they change their statements every 2 days as to what is and isn't happening.

I am sure the D2D will come up with the goods.

GOA are a total shambles always have been always will be.

I wouldn't hire them to organise a piss-up in a brewery.  They are completely amateur and have no clue about running a business on this scale.

NO EXCUSE for this level of incompetence.

Paid millions, and they can't even get 1 guy to spent 10 min a week and keep their FAQs updated or to update the system requirements for WAR.  None of this information has been updated in MONTHS!!.

It takes minutes to do simple stuff like this, how on earth can they handle running the entire Warhammer European Union servers and support.  NO CHANCE!!!

Whoever wrote that is obviously not old enough to have a wife in the first place.  The guy sounds like a 10 year old with an attitude problem.

Complete fabrication from some bored school kid.

The European codes don't work on the US site.  IF yours worked it's a 1 in a million chance.  Personally I would just wait until the EU beta entry section becomes available.

GOA posted today saying the EU beta center would be up and working in time for the Beat to start, no point messing around with US center.

That kinda makes it worse, because they should have worked on them to make them fun to play.

I'm sorry but its verry hard to take you seriously after this comment. Do you honestly think they didnt even try to make the classes work? Do you really believe that they just tossed out a class name, put a couple features on it and said...eh ok now we will wait and cut them later? Of course they worked on the classes. Of course they tried to make them fun, and balance them so they would be good at launch. It didnt work out and honestly, while the cuts do suck I would MUCH rather them cut them than release half finished, underpowered pieces of crap that most people wouldnt even realise till tier3-4 and leave the game because of it.

QFT great post, the OP should READ and UNDERSTAND why they did it, not just throw his dummy out the pram.

Oh and BTW OLD NEWS, were all over it, time for op to do the same.

I just don't understand why they picked GOA, with their terrible track record, it's like picking SOE to run your new Star Wars game and expecting it to go well.

I really worry about some of you people if you ever visit the UK.

You will be utterly confused and probably insulted by what 90% of people say to you, as you have zero understanding of humour outside of the realm of American canned laughter sitcom jokes.

Amazing.

There is no shortage of fan forums, but I do wish they will have at least a Tech Support Forum if nothing else.

Fan forums are fine when they are run correctly, but I have seen evidence that 1 or 2 or WARs fan forums are run by idiots and control freaks.

Such as the terrible only-war forum.  That site should be removed immediately from the fan site listing.  Mods ban people for sneezing in the wrong direction, they impose personal opions on people even to the extend of renaming posts and threads not because of any rule breaking but because their personal opinion is all they care about.

So fan forums are great but need to be regularly checked for mature owners and lack of abuse by mods and owners.  As a bad forum can reflect badly on a game.

In my opinion, I think WoW will loose some (probably a small percentage, as compared to the amount that stays) of its player base to WAR as it did to AoC (at least at first).

However, I believe that it will find its niche audience in a month or two. I highly doubt WAR will ever reach the numbers that WoW has, simply because, as someone said above, WoW is more teenage and younger accessible, while WAR is darker, and more adult oriented. Also, there will be (hopefully) not a large quantity of single players "pwning" other players, unless they are focus fired. Which the lack of player instagibs will turn off a certain crowd of players.

Those players will return to WoW, but I do think that WAR will survive.

Biggest load of rubbish I have ever read  LOL

WAR is not more adult orientated, how on earth did you arrive at that conclusion?

Also, Niche?... you think WAR will have a niche market.  You are nuts.

LOL, figures.

It also has a monthly pricing of £10.50 which put me off from pre-ordering the game (not sure if that includes the v.a.t as well or not that some companies include). If it does not, add another 17.5% onto that monthly pricing for UK players (and any other european country that pays tax). Not sure if $14.99 USD is the usual standard price thats always been around, if it is then your pricing hasnt changed just the european countries pricing has gone up.

From launch, subscriptions can be purchased online and within the game:
- 1 month for 12.99€ (£10.31)
- 3 months for 35.97€ (£28.55)
- 6 months for 65.94€ (£52.34)

Nothing wrong with those prices. About average for MMOs these days.

Actually that price would make WAR the most expensive MMO subscription in history.

And that may well have V.A.T. on TOP of that price, I think they are pushing the boundaries and possibly losing about 2-5% of potential customers.

Don't get me wrong I really don't mind the price, I always thought that we would see the price of MMOS start to go up as they have pretty much been frozen for a few years now it's only natural they would go up.

Expect other MMOS to follow suit in the near future.

-With VAT that comes to over £12 a month.-

How could you possibly be bored in 15 min.  LOL, more likely you have never played it, why lie?

They normally ship so that the game arrives either on the day of release or the day before.

They never ship actually ON the release day for obvious reasons.

I was talking about this before, and as no one had anything else to say I guess I was either right or very close to it.

"... My understanding is that the City tiers are something like this:

King------------A-------------B------------C--------------D-------------E----------King
K (1) City Field Middle Field City K

That is a whole lot of instances (7). It is also ignoring the fact that the Kings, Cities, and Middle points will contain multiple instances and loading screens in and of themselves. So the reality of it seems to be that you will encounter dozens of loadings screens per tier.

All of the other tiers will be nearly as bad, subtracting only the king and city wall encounters.

Bottom line:

5-7 loading screens, or seams, minimum per tier.
..."

WRONG.

Put it this way if they had announced the game as having just the 2 large cities as the end game focus, way at the start you would of been happy and eager for the game.

But because you had followed the progress of Beta and experienced all the changes as they happened you have become attached to a certain idea which, at the end of the day, didn't work out.

The majority of players of WAR over it's lifespan may never know of what 'could of been', and will only know the game as it is presented to them at release and post-release.  They won't care of what may of been planned for the game back in beta.

Basically try to free your mind of the multitude of possiblities for the game, and concentrate on the final outcome.  It's hard but try to judge the game as if you had never known about the different cities.

I would say any reasonable person would say that the game as it will be released sounds great, and a game that I would of still been happy to pre-order and be excited about.  That is the real test.

Ah.. I still love that trailer :)

The new trailer looks even more epic in scale from the sneak peak few secs they have shown.

13 euros compared to 15 bucks...

I know it's nothing to talk about, but just wondering why there have to be that difference.

Well when a Euro country becomes a Superpower you will see that change. To bad that will never happen, unless the russians decided to sell their nukes.

Ahem.. Many European countries have Nukes, we pay more because we can afford to pay more. ROFL.

WAR IS FINALLY COMING!!!!!!!!!!! WAAAAHHHH!!

Great thread Pol', I guess the only way the fanbois are going to accept the obvious logical conclusion of Darkfall's failure and death, is to have the devs come to their house, slap them in the face and shout "WAKE UP".

It's incredible to me how naive some people are.  I am surprised they even make it in RL.  Must be good to see the world through a child's logic like the fanbois do.  I genuinely feel pity for them.

QFT.

The reasons it wsn't a big hit are many fold, 90% of which could be easily eliminated with a little thought and imagination, attributes that SOE lack in a big way.

-wrong timing

-unpopular genre (people are now getting sick of fantasy Sci-Fi is due for a comeback)

-Initial problems with internet connections (lack of user broadband back then)

-Lack of funding and focus from the Devs

-No long term strategy for development

etc

All these things can be overcome easily nowadays, like has been said before it was ahead of its time and if done correctly could be a massive hit.
