If these guys want to attract new players they really need to sort out the problems with this thing..

  1.  Went to play the game,

after installation and the first thing it does in try to patch which is normal for these type of games and perfectly acceptable...IF the damn update server would work!...the thing is just plain broke.  The Tech forums were full of people suggesting flushing DNS caches etc, tryed all that no help.

So I check out the official forums, many people having the same trouble, and read of a work around of accessing the actual game file directly from the game directory ad bypassing the update/launcher.......ok...annoying and strange bug but I can live with that....for now.

  2.  So I access the game file directly and get to the login screen, enter my details and get a "Password does not match account" warning message...sigh...

check forums again...alot of people having this problem too...no obvious solution posted.  So I goto the external site where your account details are held and reset the password....load the game again, login screen, still does not accept the password...

No offical fixes, no workarounds....very frustrating and not what a new trial players experience should be.

So im uninstalling and giving this one a miss - Trial players shouldnt have to delve into the depths of a tech forum many times just to get a game to work which should work in the first place.  They really need to get their act together with these issues.  Which all seem to be server/account related.

Since it seems to be too hard for you to understand this comment I will elaborate for you, yes, there were many Fantasy style MMOs/offline games before WOW but hardly any that match the cartoon-like styling of WoW hence the reference to this well known, commercially successfull title which is a suitable example for the comment.  I'm not gonna list the history of RPGs for you so any comments made are gonna relate to current events and gaming obviously.

Many of the original products were wrote by people inspired from playing fantasy board games/pen and paper, in their youth including the original WoW (perhaps before your time so you maybe didnt pick up on this reference either?)

Lastly if you think that the developers of this game didnt look at WoWs success or potential and use this as an example for investors or adopt much of the cookie-cutter RPG playstyle (which is all this game is) then your very naive.

If you argue with my point and consider this game to be anything even approaching innovation of RPG MMOs then perhaps I should value your opinion in the same way you do to anyone that doesnt agree with yours.  Its laughable and you certainly do sound like a 12 YO Fanboi FTL

I have just come to SoR from WoW, and I must say SoR is giving me back that ole' 'MMO' feeling you used to get in the earlier days of MMORPGs, lots to learn, lots to do, Fantastic community -the type of things I thought were lost forever in the modern version of the genre.

WoW is fun to start with but its lack of depth and simplistic play really make for nothing more than a highly watered down MMO which becomes very dull very fast.

So thanks to Nevrax for rekindling the true spirit of the MMORPG!!!!!!  I'm loving every minute!!

QUOTE: "I would like for our guild to be able to assign quest for us. So they aren't completely static like all the games that are already out there. One such quest could be to track down Lord Pwnedjew (a real life player) from the guild WC and take his crafted sword from him because we need to find out the name of the crafter that made it because it has extra cold damage that we don't know how to make."

"Once again, implimentation and support. If you know a way to make this work I can promise you that there are a bunch of dev's out there that would like you on their payroll.
"

Showing a basic lack of knowledge again here - "Face of mankind" has an entirely Player made quest system there ARE NO NPC QUESTS. On the whole it works very well, the faction leaders can even decide how much money people get for completing the quests.

Suppose it depends on who you are and how you play...if you dont need the high end combat setup and just mine in safe space then a 200 - 500 hundred million is alot, if you are combat orientated or low sec then a couple of Billion is alot.

Well I was really excited about playing SWG, I dismissed some of the complaining about the new version of the game thinking it was just some vets that didnt like the how the game had changed and were just venting etc -boy was i wrong!

After downloading the trial and playing just in the first day I had - server login problems, server crashes and disconnects, many many many bugs, quest bugs, NPC chat was totally bugged most of the time, combat system is some crude combination of FPS and MMORPG style which totally failed to be either and I found unatural - especially the 'keeping the cursor on the target' what a dumb idea. The Space area and graphics and not much of a step up from Elite, controls are terrible the whole game feels like it has been rushed out.

SOE are getting a bad name for themselves and this just seems to prove that their approach to MMORPGs lately needs some serious revision perhaps its not the market for them they just dont seem to have what it takes to make a complete working game nowadays or at least one without serious issues.

I have read this statement before amongst seasoned players and i must agree "Why should i pay for game that plays like its still in early beta" cause thats what it feels like.

i really wished this game had been bug free cause id of loved to have played it - but just couldnt justify paying for a game that even in the trial version (which is supposed to make you want to play the game!) was just packed full of showstopping bugs.

Well in the early days FOM was very promosing and very active some areas were very busy and the whole game was extremely fun with in-depth politics and large battles for planets etc

Then they changed alot of things and the game died in my opinion.

At present you may find most of the game empty and so you may struggle to find many player generated missions etc (this game is 100% player content created no NPC quests at all).

I would say reading your post that FOM probably isnt what your after at moment since its in a bit of transitional phase right now.
