I am so thankful EvE is tough enough to weed out the too young and the too stupid. It's the last hope for real gamers - long may it continue!! |

The longest I have to wait in Eve (when it's not a function of game design) is a less than a second!, for anything, and I do not have a top of the range system. I am an experienced PC builder and user but I think that is irrelevant in this case as Eve requires little in the way of tweaks to gain this performance. |

SKILL should win everytime, if not where is the challenge? Everyone will be on the same level providing they have the same gear. Not everyone should be rewarded, only those that do well and have the skill and dedication to get better should be. MMOs are becoming like US schools, where even if you're last in a race you get praise. Life ain't like that, human nature isn't like that, and neither should MMOs. This isn't kindergarten.

Have to agree with many of the comments, I understand the argument of trying the game before you judge it, but it is a fact that there a few pre-requisites to being a person who will like this game. And if you don't meet those then you will flat out not like AoC, such as hating alot of instance gaming or hating an initial lack of content at the higher levels etc
Also there is the fact that there is no trial for AoC, so people have to fork out a bit of money just to see if they like the game, and a sensible person will way that up against both the negative and positive reviews of the game.
So without actually buying the game you can't actually give it a try, that is the problem with the OPs position, its all very well saying try it before you dismiss the game, but if trying it means actually buying the game then kinda defeats the purpose. All anyone can do is read reviews on anything they want to purchase, if 50% of people say the game is total crap and 50% say its the best thing since sliced bread then it's probably a gamble and would be probably be best to wait for buddy keys or a trial.
For those sitting on the fence the best option is to wait for buddy keys or wait for a trial, because as most of us know AoC is definitely NOT for everyone its restrictive gameplay means there are people who will just not like it and it's better for them to wait and see before committing further.

OP you are a casual MMO gamer as you have admitted in your post. LOTR is a casual MMO, seems like a perfect fit to me. If you enjoy the game don't worry about what other people say in the forums. |

Folks get real, these games are all copying simple pen and paper. It's not like any of them created the idea of recording information in a readable form.
You cannot rip off the idea of record keeping, since it's existed for thousands of years, that's all it is an interactive journal.

The only instances in WAR are the ones that you choose to be in, unlike AoC which forces them on you almost every minute of your characters life.

Agreed, seems to be nicely on track for the estimated Fall release. At this stage I can't see any reason why it won't be a big success. :) |

Short answer YES - WAR will be better than AOC.
Better at release than AoC was ,and better than AoC at the time of WARs release. |

If that 6.75 is out of 10 then that has to be the lowest score I have ever seen on an actual game forum website immediately after release. Players should still be in the honeymoon period and I would expect it to be rated in the 8s at least. I cannot believe the OP is proud of the fact that the AOC forums rated their shiney new game a rather sad 6.75 has to be the worst fan rating of any new MMO in history. LOL just shows what a dissapointment this game is even to fans of the game. |

Shipping = Doesn't mean anything. Sales = Means almost nothing, to the success and profit of an MMO title. Susbscriptions = Now were getting to what really matters, and not just short term 1- 3 month subs, but the medium term 6 month - 1 year subs. T That is when a company starts making the money, and keeping people happy and on-board is what MMOs are geared towards, because that is how they make money. So before the fanbois start getting all girly and excited about boxes being shipped, AoCs success can ONLY be judged AFTER a period of 6 months. Funcom knows this even if you don't. Medium - Long term subscription numbers is the ONLY relevent statistic when it comes to assessing the success of an MMO. Everything else is just hype and marketing. |

You could do this with Vanguard - not sure if its still in - in real time at the login screen before you even enter the game.
Maybe they will add it as part of the out of game interactive Guild / Character website page. Apparently you will be able to check your stats, see in real time what your TOK progress is, etc etc Also manage your guild affairs out of game. |

Here are some examples that I am personally familiar with; Planetside - interact directly with hundreds of people during battles. EvE - Interact directly with hundreds of people and large scale Corp fights can easily reach 150+ ships.
So don't bring other MMOs down to the lowly level of AoC because large numbers interacting directly IS done and HAS been done for many years before that excuse for an MMO was ever thought about.
