Q: It's a pretty brave decision to have to take?

John Smedley: I wouldn't call it brave, you just have to learn those lessons from things like Vanguard. I would say that the circumstances sometimes dictate things, and as a company we are less and less willing to do anything that might harm our reputation, and we want to make sure that our games are super-high quality.

Talk about putting a brave face up to the customers. Since when does SOE care about its reputation with gamers? A little too late for that.

Actually brostyn, they don't have to care, considering they're the best publisher/developer out there. Smed's word not mine.  From the same article, the 7th question down here's here's his take on things

"We're on generation two, whereas everybody else id on generation one - and I think that will give us a leg-up in our future titles."

This quote says it all....

complicated Battlefield Europe (WWII Online) is not. Intricate and deep, most definately. Been playing for three years now, and the rats (Cornered Rat Software) keep making the game better. The current iteration is almost wholly player run, the support is teriffic, and the player base is unmatched.

It requires a lot of patients, especially for beginners, because there is are no mobs or npc's to kill. What or who you kill, or if you're just starting the game who kills you ;) are live humans on the other end. The biggest complaint I hear from noobs is that they cannot find a battle. It's not that they cannot find one, it's the fact they do not know where to look.

there is nothing like a one on one fire fight pitting you against another live human wheter it be in a building or woods; with a rifle, armor, air or ship. The deepness and complexity, if there is such a thing, comes from learning how to out wit you opponent.

give it a try!

Healz4u,

Yes, the game has changed. Yes SOE made a mistake, or several. But, they are slowly seeing the light. I am a returning player and am very glad I chose to approach it with an open mind. The game is fun, period. I've played WoW, EQ, EVE, and others and none hold a spell over me like SWG with the exception of Battlefield Europe (WWII online) which is in a class by itself.

With the addition of the Beast Master, I don't see myself leaving the game anytime in the near future. Keep playing and remember

If it ain't fun, you ain't doing it right :)
