I'm gonna have to go ahead and say Aion with every new article I read I get more and more excited for its release in North America. Seems like it will combine some of the stuff I loved from Korean MMOs with stuff we all know and love about the Western style MMOs. |

Yeah i have to say since VG released and didn't do too hot I haven't really heard much about it anywhere. I thought it might have been dead or something. The thing is most games when released can make a huge nose dive like VG did if things aren't working perfectly. My question is how populated is this game these days? Are new people starting to join now that things are apparently fixed or because people can finally afford a pc that can play it? |

I'd go with either of them. I play on PC and recently got a copy for my 360, it's great on both. I do like sitting back on my couch and playing with 360 but when I'm doing things with my LS i like to use my PC because of Ventrilo and the graphics look better on my PC but my PC's capabilites are overkill for FFXI. If I had a nice big screen I might just solely use the 360 though and just use my laptop for vent the because controller is nice but having to pick up and set down the controller for typing can be annoying. |

I have no idea what you are talking about and first off i want you to know that my RNG is lvl 75 so I have used ranged weapons a whole lot. When you target a mob the only time it should say you can't see the target is if the mob is behind something. If you hit the mob and for you second shot it starts running at you and moves out of your line of sight don't move the arrow will still fly and hit its target. No matter what though if you move while shooting you will interrupt you shot. If you use your ranged in ballista it will help you get better at these skills. Running around like crazy and stopping to shoot. In ballista an interrupted shot can be the death of you. |

I have to agree with you on some of these points. Combat systems when you put it out like that will always be that way. Games do very in how combat works though. If you look at Tabula Rasa (which i havent played) it has a combat system similiar to FPS games in a way. But I bet even in that game you travel from one area to another killing mobs. I have to disagree about the abilities only being for combat. Even in WoW i think Warlocks have an ability similiar to teleporting. Some games like GW don't really need spells like that because you can pretty much move around the world freely. I think it comes down to the fact that everyone wants traveling abilties no matter what class you are. I do however like the fact that some games have classes that get special abilties or spells that can be used outside of combat like the ones you mentioned. |

I have to say housing is a nice plus in games. Having houses placed in the actual world can kind of irritate me if it's not done correctly. I did like the housing system in SWG but then it seemed all me and my friends did was sit in our houses and that got old. When housing is instanced and in a special housing area like say FFXI it's nice because you can have all the cool things like furniture and stuff and it's a nice a place to keep items you aren't using. For me it all just depends on how the game is setup and if housing works right for that game. I wouldn't play a game just because it has housing and not having housing would not keep me from playing a game when it comes down to it. |

In Aion however many of the polearms seem to be decorated sticks with some huge monstrous thing on the end that sometimes doesn't even resemble a blade at all. The thing is though polearm just means that it is a weapon on the end of a stick. Some people could argue that a fixed bayonet is the modern day polearm because of it's nature. Out of all the weapons and armor though I have to say that the ones that normally catch my eye the most are the beautiful bows and gorgeous shields. I particularly like the way the shields are worn while not in battle. Instead of it being some thing that is just fixed to you arm at all times like most other games. |

I think your issue is that you're kiling the wrong sheep. Wild sheep don't really have a great drop rate for sheepskin the sheep in konshtacth highlands and la theine however have about a 50% drop rate. I wouldn't drop a lvl to farm sheepskins either since this won't help with drop rates on items besides crystals. So my advice is gain a few lvls and go kill the sheeps in the next area that are around the lvl of 11-13. |

What is this FAQ that you speak of? I've never heard of anything like that at all. I myself just like to ask questions and people post links for me to find the information. Why do the research when you can trick someone into doing it for you. |

You are most definely mistaken. Maybe you are thinking of some other type of axe that you got off another mob. It is impossible to have more then one of Rare item, always has been always will be.

Drop rates in ffxi can work a bit funky. On ffxiclopedia there are a lot of items that will have a drop % rate but those are figured out over very long periods of time. You might just need one of that particular item and you could be lucky and get it the first try or be unlucky and get it 20th try even if the percentage says you should get it at least 1 out of 5 times. As far as crystals go crystals will not drop off of mobs that check too easy and more crystals drop off IT mobs then EM mobs. I think it works like this so that if you are in a pt you get crystal drops but can just kill tons of lvl 1 mobs and get boatloads of crystals. |

Been playings MMOs since i was a freshman in high school so I guess that about 6 or seven years now. Started out with DAoC, then quit for a while and concetrated on FPS games. After that it was SWG, FFXI, L2,AO, Planetside. Now i just play ffxi occasionally while i wait for something new. Also play a lot of FPS games now because they don't eat up as much time. TF2, Halo, and UT3 ftw. I'm starting to love single player games again too like bioshock, heavenly sword, Too Human, and can't wait for my copy of Force unleashed to arrive in the mail. |

I don't really think the problem is the developers the problem most likely comes from the publishing companies. Devs want to make the best game they possibly can, they put there life and soul into their work because it's something they are passionate about. Publishers on the other hand are the ones that set timelines and release dates which can constrict the developers creativety because they just don't always have the time needed to put in all the content they want or get it just right like they would want to. And if you know anything about programming there is always going to an unkown problem that you could not see coming when you first start making a something. It's just one of those things that will always happen. Another issue is now there are so many people to that play MMOs when i started playing there wasn't as many as there was now and you have more people that want different things in a game. Some people love PvP some love PvE some want a mix of both. It gets a lot more indepth then that as well some people care more about how a game looks and how much you can customize your character then how the battle system and gameplay works, some just want a great story and community. The issue isn't the developers it's the fact that no matter which direction a developer wants to take their game it's going to please a few and the majority will not like something about it. One of my favorite MMOs of all time was at one time one of the most hated. On the topic of WoW, while i did not like the game, you can't take away the fact that it has the most players out of all the games out there right now. This causes some issues because the players are not willing to play a game that doesn't offer a lot of the stuff that game offers. Just like I'm having trouble trying to find a game that doesn't offer what i've learned to love in games I've played in the past. In the end this creates a lot of games with similiar aspects to WoW which either, one makes the WoW haters hate it because it's it's too much like WoW, or the WoW lovers hate the stuff it doesn't have that they've learned to love in WoW or they think it's just more of the same. I myself would like a game with a mix of what ffxi and L2 have. That will never happen though because those games are so completely different and it would not appeal to the masses. So in the end would be considered a failure even if it had a die hard following like both of those games have. |

Yes there is a way. Near all the Auction houses there is an NPC that you can use to send items to other players. It's normally very very close, most of the time right off to one side of the auction house. You can only send so many items at once though and you can only use one slot of the delivery box to send money at a time. |

My first MMO was DAoC I think that game was great until the atlantis expansion that expansion ruined the game as far as I'm concerned and I didn't stick around much after that. |

Biggest mistakes Hmm..... I like this topic it's a neat one. The thing is I can't really figure out what is the biggest mistake. What is one mans mistake is what another man would think is the greatest achievement. Like, for example, some people don't like PvP. I'm not a huge PvP fan myself but it is fun when it's done right. I think the only games that I've ever really enjoyed PvP in were DAoC and L2 any other game i've played i absolutely hated the PvP for some reason. DAoC probably because you felt you needed to protect your realm and show that it was better then the others and it being my first MMO might have something to with it too (you gotta love that fist one that got you hooked). L2 because of the consequences I think and the fact that it could happen anytime, anywhere, and anyone could be involved no matter what race or area they were from. You could lose you're loot and lot of experience when you lost too. One of the coolest things was you could cause month long battles between two or more clans that cause you to have to watch your back and everyone in your clans back at all times labeling someone KOS from another clan or someone that got booted from yours was always awesome. And finally castle sieges were pretty freaking awesome with that many people involved when the lag was manageble. So i guess my point is yeah i loved the PvP in L2 and pretty much hate it in all other games. Does that mean PvP is bad. Not neccesarily, but I guess even the huge mistakes named so far if done right can still be enjoyable by some and hated by others. Oh but one thing I do really hate when equip you craft is absolutely useless and no one in gods name would ever buy it or keep it if it was free but it's the only thing you can skill up off of from lvl 65-73 in smithing or things like that. That really irks me and I think everyone can agree on that. Or they are just wrong and fail at life |
