I'm running a 2.7 processor, 2 gigs DDR ram, mid range Nvidia card, winXP, and I get 60+ fps on medium/high settings, so you're doing something wrong, or you have a system specific problem, or it's vista (I blame vista), or something else that has nothing to do with the game.

I'm under the reccomended specs by about 25%, I ran into a decent number of bugs, and initially it ran kind of bad.

However, I'm not retarded and looking for someone to blame, so I sat down and said "What all can I do to make this game run, and make it run well". After maybe 2 hours of playing around, re-patching some things, messing with my drivers, cleaning some stuff up, and messing with in game settings, I now run at an almost constant 60+ fps on medium/high settings for **everything**.

The reason I can do this is years of experience beta testing, and forcing games to work on my PC, and in my experience with other gamers, if you can't make a game work on a technically relevant PC, it's because you don't know what the f%^& you're doing. Stop blaming funcom for things that you could otherwise fix, or attempt to learn how to fix. Solutions are out there, most people just drop a game if it doesn't work with their pc fresh from box and first patch, that's user stupidity, and nothing else.

I'm going to play bully a bit because something on the first page made me trip over the posts for a moment...

"If someone reviews aoc saying good things about it... they have to lie...lol"

If you, or anyone you know, are about to hit the "post" button on such a worthless, opinionated, counter-productive, and above all, blatantly blind-minded thought, just let it go. We don't need any more this crap in these forums, really, that's enough, learn how to keep this crap to yourself.

Back to the conversation: The OP described the Vanguard release almost to a tee. I was in the beta for a few months up until release and almost everything he said AoC, as some have pointed out, plagued Vanguard from beta on. I'm not saying I love Vanguard, but I am saying it's a decently successful MMO, and I will say AoC has potential to be much better than that. Many of the problems that down-rate this game for people are easy fixes, or can at least be patched up until there's a full fix.

Most graphical errors are user errors. Since the beginning of computer gaming, most of the time if you have a graphical problem, it's either your fault, or your PC's fault, not the games. With that said, Conan does have some issues that are not "user error", which are being fixed. Know your PC, learn about the game's engine, I had the same problems as many people, and with a few system specific fixes, I'm getting a constant 60 FPS, on medium high settings, on a **UNDER RECOMENDED** PC.

In game issues such as class balance, rooting out exploits and exploiters, fixing quests, proportional loot throughout the game, and many other issues are POST RELEASE fixes by nature. I really appreciate people like the OP in this thread because they actually give specific complaints that aren't opinion based (for the most part) that can actually be discussed.

That would be a problem specific to WoW and woulden't neccecarily translate to another game. To me, your character *should* get more interesting to play as they get stronger and more skilled. I don't know yet if this is the case with conan first hand, but if it's true, then they've definitely done something right.

On the note of leveling too fast, I've gotten floods of information about many people/guilds abusing many things to level quite easily. At first I was quite annoyed about this, but I decided it was for the better. Since they so openly abused so many things, it got the attention of the devs, which means faster fixes. Also, they've ruined the game for themselves, so dishonest people won't be playing this game long. I'm not making any accusations, it just seems to me there were/are so many exploitable features at the moment due to dishonest beta testers that anyone with a weak will would be sucked into exploiting easily.

The biggest problem this forum has is that everyone feels their opinion of the game is more important than everyone else's. That's why we have 100 threads that are people complaining about problems they caused themselves, matters of opinion ("instancing killd dis gme so it suks" or something of the like) which cause other overly-opinionated forum go-ers to fire back with more irrelevant opinions/personal attacks.

Really, all their doing is pointing themselves out and saying "I don't like this game for personal reasons, you shouldn't like it either because of my personal reasons".

I didn't entertain the notion of a pointless, idiotic, sarcastic, +1, because I like to think that people are generally more intelligent than that. If you were just being sarcastic, you deserve to comment even less.

Sober, we've already discussed the OP and his believability, about a page back or so.

You talked about "no-lifers" and you hinted at something that seems quite accurate, people that play 12-16 hours a day make it really hard for developers to make a game that accomodates their time comittment while not making it absurd for casual players to get anything done. The conclusion that I would come to is that people who play for more than 12 hours a day shouldn't be littering forums with complaints about the game being too easy or short. That complaint would be *especially* annoying coming from someone who exploited to get where they were even faster....

Class balance is a very difficult thing to nail without years of expiramentation and data, if a game gets it right the first time, either the classes are too simple, or they got astoundingly lucky. Rangers weren't untouched, they were nerfed in beta, they used to two/three shot most other classes, they aren't anywhere near that now.

"So it's not because it wasn't fix yet that it doesn't mean it was reported..."

You mean:

"Just because it's not fixed doesn't mean that it's not been reported"

And I don't think he reported everything, because if he used these exploits to get *two* characters to 80 that means he's dishonest in the first place. One abusable system has been fixed, apprenticeship, the repeatable quests and abusable trading may have been fixed today, but I haven't seen anything about it. My point is, these are MAJOR problems that very obvious. The devs would react quickly to something like this, if they can't fix it fast, they would remove it's functionality entirely to prevent further exploiting.

Spizz, listen to what's being said, either he's lying, or, now pay attention here, **he CHEATED to get two characters to 80**

Can't spell it more clearly than that, he's blaming the game for his own use of exploits, cheats, blind spots, abuse of flaws, no matter what you call it, it's willing disregard for the game and it's rules for personal gain. People have already said if he actually cared about the game, he would have submitted the exploits, and they would now be fixed, keeping people from exploiting to 80, which is what he's mostly complaining about.

He's chosen to be a part of the problem, and he's *also* chosen to not be part of the solution. Whole the game is presenting the opportunity to abuse these flaws, only a dishonest gamer would do so.

The game feels stale.  Thats the best way to describe it.  If you like kids running around topless, then this will probably be fun for you for a few days at most.  Thats really all this game has to offer.  There is no HOOK that makes you want to come home and log on right away. Nothing that makes you feel like staying home from school or work to play.  AoC failed and will be put in the pile right along side the other big dissapointment, Vanguard.

You think *that* is sage-like? It's a blunt opinion expressed in a very limited scope, it's the same thing everyone else who doesn't like the game has been doing since people could comment openly about the game here. Are you just hopping in this conversation without making any sort of relevant comment on what's being discussed for an undeserving praising +1 to your post count?

The last thing we need in these mass tabloid like "Conan sucks nd i kno y" threads is more irrelevant posts and yes men.

Trusting anyone about an opinion based subject that can't come without bias on a forum is a pretty dumb idea to begin with. You've got people who hold their own opinion as fact, and declare people who feel differently are somehow factually wrong, and you have the people that jump on one side or the other of a no-win argument between two groups of people that barely knew that they were talking about to begin with.

If you want to state your opinion on the game, positive or negative, you're going to have to learn to be content with the fact that the most you can speak on is your perspective. The people that can't do the are the trolls fighting endlessly with people who jump on the other side just to needlessly argue back about something that can't even get anywhere through debate. Put simply, don't feed the trolls, and don't fall in line with anyone's opinion just because it rings true with your own.

There's plenty of people here that have played just as much as the OP and loved it, what if he's keeping you from spending the best 100 euros you've ever spent? Either way, it comes down to trusting some random guy in the internet about something that's a matter of sheer opinion on a forum. That's not a terribly bright idea, what with bias, skewed opinion, and random anonymity being what it is.

'Scuse me if I'm wrong OP, but I really didn't hear you say much about the "multi-player" part of this game. I heard you say you quested at the beginning, the you resorted to grinding, but I never heard you talk about group synergy, other people's opinions and influences on your gameplay, and things of the like. I could have missed it, but if you're playing this game 90% by yourself, well... I think that throws your review off just a bit. I just kept hearing a lot of "I did this" and "I ended up doing this instead", nothing about "We decided" to do anything.

Graphics and game play isn't a "one or the other" option, a game needs to have both to succeed in the current market. If you're really so painfully vexed by 10 second loading zones, you're just an impatient gamer. I fail to see how "zoning" for population/graphics control is automatically tied to a flaw in game play overall. Instancing is a bit different, depending on it's implimentation, but I still can't see why someone would instantly relate and idea like that to bad game play unless they were just set off by a bad experience, or some other individual bias that's irrelevant to the current game.

"Good and real mmorpgs are games like swg, vanguard ( problem was bugs but they solved most of them)wow etc..games with big world, no loadings every zone..no instancing of the zones..one world common to all players..where i stand anyone can stand and see me real time..thats an mmo.."

**everything above is sheer opinion based on what these two people like in an MMO, there are no factual, unbiased, or productive attempts to relate to anything specific in the game, they are just presenting an argument that the game is not good based on their opinion on what a good game is and their own shortcomings with the game**

"anyone with half a brain..that played a real mmo can never say aoc is a good mmo..."

"I have to agree with the OP.  The above 2 person must have never played a really good mmo before."

**The above two statements are idiotic and irrelevant personal attacks also based on opinion with no factual basis and have no bearing on whether or not the game is actually good or bad**

If you want to argue about why you "think" or "feel" the game is bad, go post in one of the few hundred threads that already have that premise, don't make a new one just because you think your opinion is somehow better, or more informed than all the other people here that have played MMO's for just as long, if not longer than you have.

I'm sorry that you want your cloth wearing, skin and bones, no vitality mage to stand up to an unguarded, usually poisoned, stab to the kidney from behind. I'd say a mage would have a few seconds to finish what they were doing before they pass out and die. If you want the game to pull a punch for you, go play something else where cloth wearers can stand up to that for whatever non-sensical fantasy related reason.

AoC  does actually pull a lot of punches for various things, but it's a step towards realisim, and if you don't like realism then you're biased against this mmo to begin with, and should hold your opinion to yourself or at least let people know you're biased to begin with.

I play a "skill" based game, in a literal sense. I play stepmania, the people that are too dumb for a decent convorsation wills top reading at that, but I'll explain for the 3 people that kept reading with an open mind. I play fairly tough stuff, I play index style for anyone who knows the game, and for the level of skill I play at, I actually have to practice or I start to suck. My timing gets off, I can't sightread the notes fast enough, I make the wrong placement choices on certain patterns, and things of the like. A skill based (talking to the player skill idead) should be like that, if you don't practice at it, you won't get better, and chances are, you'll get worse. This would mean the game is like a sport, there's natural skill, practiced skill, and experience. The people most apt in those three catagories would be the best at the game, experience you would gain at the same rate, while some people would have to practice more than others, or gain more from practice.

I really wish an MMO was brave enough to do something like that, but no dev team would do that because of the rut MMO's are in. If there was a game where my twitch skill, experience with gaming, and ability to learn and practice a game all came into play to a very important extent, I'd play that game for the rest of my life. Getting tired of being gear focused, or thinking holy crap that guy/monster is 10 levels above me, I won't even do damage to him/it, or "even though I'm a great player, if 4-5 random people decide to attack me at once, no matter how good I am or how much they suck, I'll die". Player skill is removed from MMO's, because people would complain, or not pay for the game, if they got severely out classed by a guy that's lower level with worse gear because the guy knew what he was doing.

It's obvious they're handling things Kyle, trolls will always be able to say whatever they want because they're people with opinions, you can at least take solace that if they get out of hand they'll be moderated here.

His choice of pic isn't immature, but he is. Those pics do look pretty nice, and I really like the art of the game, but the truth of it is there are going to be a bunch of 13 year old boys playing female chars just to take their clothes off and run around town shouting "lawl look at mah boobies!!" and taking screens.

Just a side note, this forum is little kid friendly, I don't know why, it's a bad move to me, but if you want to post any pictures of a mature nature, you're going to have to do it somewhere else, because it'll get you moderated here.
