Heres my 2 cents; now that the NDA is lifted I can spill. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!!! As the game sits now it so so unbalanced that unless your playing the flavor of the minute class you cannot win in PvP. The system crashes constantly, though Funcom is promising a "MAGIC RELEASE CLIENT" just like Vanguard Saga of Heroes did when it released. The game looks awesome, although it doesnt look like DX10 graphics are going to make the release. The combat system is jerky at best, and all of the spawn points in PvP are camped constantly. I do not see at this time how this game is releasing, dont get me wrong I am VERY hopeful that the game goes off without a hitch, but my impression (and I have been in the beta since november) is that the game seriously lacks any kind of FUN or long term appeal.

To respond to this, I can only assume the NDA your talking about it the ignbeta which was not close to the client beta.

As the current Closed Beta which is still ongoing still has its NDA.

That being said, I have very few instances of lag, virtually none of crashing, PVP is going to be a camp fest I think.

Combat system is not jerky at all, and this game is a lot more stable and balanced then Vanguard is right now.

Cant comment on class balance that much as I have not had time to play a particulat class all the way to 80 and experiment with all the different combination of skills and I dont think you have either.

This game is currently well worth it.

I am already in the early access so the answer to your question is  no.

But I am aprehensive about jumping straight into PVP as it looks like that might be gankfest in the begining especially in whitesands.

But what the hell who wants to live for ever will probably start on pvp server and spend 2 days trying to get to level 7.

yeah thats not to bad although I have heard people wining about it being to short, I mean if someone wants to play 10.5 straight days to do it, be my guest and in fact Funcom should alert the authorities of anyone who does it becuase there obviously unbalanced.

Hell that means it would take you 20 days playing 12 hours a day which I also thinkg is pretty damn unhealthy

Or 40 days at 6 hours a day etc,

Eve is a social game about tactics and empire building to a degree. 0 space is fun but tough but you corp should help you through. Mining is ok for some reason I find it relaxing, pvp is tense and dangerous areas are dangerous.

There are aliances, war, treachery, pirates, carebears, mercs, and more. This is a great game give it a month.

How could none of the other games with reputed higher populations, not be ranked higher? Not a fan of eve by the way. Just think it is an interesting question.

Perhaps, despite higher populations, the votes are based on a fraction of the respective playerbases. The vocal 'can-be-bothered' crowd. Assuming only subscribers have voted (though likely ex-subscribers have an opinion too)

EVE's rating is based on 4000 votes and has 120k subscribers (1 in 30 if all votes were by players bigging it up)

A huge MMo like WoW has a rating is based on some 6000 votes (1 in 1000 of its subscribers)

Neither is exactly representative of general opinion or its playerbase, just a of a small proportion of it. Just because more people do one thing than another (eg. drive Fords vs drive Ferraris) doesn't make it automatically better.

Well actually statictly speaking those are ok sample sizes.

I am going to have to agree with the origianl poster.

But so far I have not like a single asian game to date. Dont know why exactly. But I did find the tutorial absolutly worthless.

The Grinding in this game is a lot worse then wow to eq2 and its not even that ejoyable.

It also appears to be designed much more towards solo play.

If you have tried an asian mmorpg before and did not like it stay away from this.

Eve-Online is has a strong community, its space based though and progression is done through real time meaning even if your logged off your skill advances. But To Fly a top end ship would take close to a year.

But if you want a tight nit community, deep skill and ship system and are into empire building pirartes and politics joine eve.
