Fact is, instanced linear zones are not bugs but features of the game which makes it unplayable for many

Too early to draw any conclusions. If they waited maybe they would have sold less games but kept a higher number of subscribers for a longer time. It's just impossible to know the answer to this and since you cant compare you will never know.

Personally I'm guessing they did the right thing cause even if more polished I fail to see how this game can compete against WotLK and Warhammer Online. WoW has maybe the best PVE and Warhammer most likely the best PVP. Conan offer both but is good at none.

Aha, so wow has the best pve and war will have the best pvp? I say WoW has the worst PVE and WAR will have one of the worst PVP.

Games that will always have better PVP than the linear WAR RVR system are sandbox games like EVE or Shadowbane (and hopefully upcoming Earthrise/Darkfall).

Good I was hoping to get rid of most of the wow kiddies in Aoc. It doesn't seem like they have at all but at least we didn't get this one.

If you want to get rid of the kiddies in your MMORPG you should stop playing games for kiddies. But if you enjoy the same games as kiddies do, then you will be always doomed to play with them.

Seradon is not EU server. Halgar is the only EU server.

I would recommend Ranger myself. It has a goo range attack and can follow up with some good close-in melee attacks.

But I'm also very biased, since I'm a Ranger myself

I have a ranger at level 50 I would not recommened ranger at all. I think it's one of the three worst solo classes in game along with Sorcerers and Rogues. It's even worse than warrior. Yes first 35 levels is a cake, but after level 40+ you really come to a point where you will have a very hard time soloing even 3 dotted mobs.

As a disciple you will be using around 20-25 abilities. You will be using combos (pressing abilities in a special order), you will be healing and buffing with combos. You will have powerful buffs, ressurects, summons, feign death, dots, around 12 different critical responses, dodge responses etc...

In reality, all classes are like this (except rogues maybe). So you're good to go with any. Basically all healers are best soloers, but it takes them longer to kill something.

An abysmal failure of a poster's intellect to understand the game system.

Yeh some people actually know the game system and won't say GREASE IS CONE BREATH ABILITY and won't blame bugs for dying every minute because of total lack of knowledge about the system. And believe it or not, even most of the people that are part of this minority are not going on mmorpg.com actually spreading out the silly lies based on their inability to understand the concept.

I wish ya'll would quit bashing AoC, it is a great game, they wanted it this way, they did a damn good job, so let them have the props they deserve.

People on these forums would bash the greatest game every made.

Anyways a 600 dollar computer can run AoC just fine, so this thread is kind of worthless.

Sorry, I'm losing something here. What is the greatest game ever made?

no nO NO! Can you image how silly it would look like to see a cloak while tumbling in DDo? It's either a cloak, or a tumble. Which one would you choose?

The OP is a deluded guy that tried a trial. He didn't know the game system and everytime he dies he blames it's bugged instead of realizing, it's the way the D&D system works.

DOG GREASE IS RANGED ABILITY NOT BREATH CONE.

Seriously, how problematic is to download the trial where you can see it by yourself. DDo is unique. It is highly probable you won't like it, but there is a chance you will love it. But the reason why you wouldn't like it, would be the uniqueness of it, not bugs. The game is not BUGGED at all. The system works just like the pen and paper version.

IGN is the one that gave Gothic III 40% and AoC 78%? How serious can you take such a website? Should be the other way around.

Sounds about right to me. I love gothic 2 but part 3 was just horrible mess.

Thillian, you also have to take into account that these games are rated against other games in the genre on IGN.  Even in the Gothic 3 review they mention Oblivion as being the front runner in the Genre which.. undoubtedly is true.  When you put the games side by side and Oblivion made a 9 and gothic made a 4.9. On a Curve of Oblivion being the top as 100% Gothic 3 would have been more like a 60%.

Hope that makes you feel alittle better.

Seriously, for me Oblivion was an unplayable mess (quests with 1 solution, mobs level together with you, instantmouse travel, horrible mountains texture --duh)...Let's be honest, without at least 10-15 mods Oblivion was/is an unplayable mess. And even with the mods, I would rather spend another 30 hours re-playing planescape torment or arcanum.

Gothic 3 had its issues apparently, but it was not at least dumbed down idiotic overrated piece of... doh.

I think the OP got mixed up with the term RPG and MMORPG.

Diablo was a offline RPG with a few multiplayer functions. In that regards, it is a definitely a RPG.

It is not a mmorpg, where players would roleplay in a community perspective with each other, diablo roleplays in the perspective of the player as the hero of the story.

As whether Flagship studio is the RPG authority is another matter. For one, I personnally hated the fact that they created Hellgate instead of DIablo III, so I am inclined to feel that they don't quite know what the public really want from them in terms of RPGs.

If Diablo was a RPG then Baldur's Gate 1 was an adventure detective game.

Well that's because there ISN'T really anything innovative about it. Almost all of the reviews I've read said that LOTRO is a wonderful game for those who aren't looking for much innovation and change but rather want to immerse themselves in Tolkien lore without really learning a new system.

I recently subscribed to the game and, though I admit it's loads of fun, there's nothing new. I'm now trying out WOW for the first time, and it's ridiculous how similar it is to LOTRO (or rather, the other way around). The UI, the button commands, the reputation system...and that's just to name a few. Think of LOTRO as WOW with more realistic (well, much better too) graphics and a stronger storyline that apparently follows Tolkien's books VERY closely.

I've decided to pursue WOW, simply because it's a timeless jewel. Despite the fact that it's a soul-sucker, as some of my friends refer to it.

Wow, the UI system, reputation system, quest focus, solo style... all been done in Asheron's Call 2 a game made by Turbine 3 years before WoW. Who copies who?

This is an excellent video that proves the fact that player skill in DDo is far more important than in any other game.
