There was a game that was supposed to be coming out a couple of years back and I don't remember if it was cancelled or what and unfortunately can't remember the name of it...

So, with the vague amount of information I have, does anyone remember an MMORPG that was supposed to come out several years ago (I think around the time of Asheron's Call 2's launch) where you were playing a god? I know it's very vague and I appologise, but I can't think of the damn name of the game and just want to know. Thanks :)

Ummm..I think he is looking for other people's opinions on what they think of the game past level 4. He probably just bought the game because it looked cool. Everybody is guilty of doing that every now and again.

That being said, the game sucks no matter what level you are playing. My opinion. Others will disagree with me (most of whom are probably just not willing to admit that they have wasted time and/or money on this game so will continue throwing good money after bad to convince themselves that this game is good) but, that is why it is called an opinion. Hope this helps.

This game is awesome. The character design, character animations and controls are spot on. The special effects are gorgeous as well as the over art direction. This game is a serious blend of 3person shooter / Ao / Ryzom  , and has been excuted very well.

This game is for hard core mmo players, there will be some serious puzzle solving as well as some insane questing. Be prepared for the later levels cause the games is packing the heat, weak gamers need not apply /

Great Job by Richard Garriot for finally listening to the bellows of the peopkle who want something completely different from the current trends. I will be playing T.R. at release !

Are you sure you were playing Tabula Rasa and not some other game that was good? The graphics were OK, but nothing to write home about. I personally think the graphics in City of Heroes/Villans are better. And unless they completely changed something in Charachter creation in the past couple of weeks, you can't really pick anything except your charachters look and occupation, which doesn't really do much. What am I missing here? Oh, and how do you delete the stinking Tabula Rasa installer off your computer? It just keeps coming back!!

if not, hover your mouse over them.

If it's in closed beta, it should not have those icons and should be under development status not beta, like the rest of the games...
If they can't even be bothered by putting correct info according to a site's listing practices, then i have little to no hope in that company.

They have the exact same symbol next to Age of Conan and list the release date as 3/28/08. Thus, this only shows that the game is to be released as a retail disk and that it will be pay to play. Other games are not listed as such as the information has not been released yet as to what will be done with them. Payment plans are usually finalized just before the game is released.

Funny thing is, if you hover over the green arrow to the left, you will plainly see that it says "Beta Testing" next to God's and Heroes.

Yeah. It really is. I don't see this game being ready for release in a month and a half, either.

The 2 most popular classes are the Human and Night Elf both belonging to Alliance. Blood Elf is third, which has helped even out the sides a bit.

The ugliest and meanest, which I consider Orc and Troll are the two least played races. Not sure why you are thinking peolpe choose the biggest, meanest, ugliest  toons, when the evidence says otherwise.

http://www.warcraftrealms.com/census.php

It was real bad before the blood elves evened things out.

I also suspect your assumptions in VG are probably just as wrong.

Perhaps it was just my server.  And also I played WoW for only about a year after it came out, things may have changed.  But believe you me, I was human and was waaaaaaaaaay out numbered by orcs.

With the introduction of the Blood Elves, the tide has turned on the PvP servers, and the Horde actually outnumbers the Alliance by a ratio of 1.2:1. Go figure.

lets face it people, if it's bad - it's popular.  That's because most people aren't that smart. Sad, but true.

There is a lot of people out there playing a lot of great games that are not WoW.  Personally I'm having the gaming time of my live with civ 4, and then I'll be playing HG:L.  People that are playing WoW are missing out on some great gaming.

In most things in life I use popularity to guide me, as to what not to do.  What TV not to watch, what music not to listen to.  Gaming has finally caught up to the other entertainment industries.

Who told you G.W. popular? His approval rating is at like 30 something percent.

But,  I digress. you are correct in one regard. just because something is popular, that does not make it good. HOWEVER, it does not automatically make it bad, either.

Good news :The IP i want is being made into a mmorpg ( WoD)

Bad news: Im gonna have to wait till 2012 at least

sorry the world ends at 2012.

Oh crap somebody call CCP/whitewolf ASAP then. They are wasting their money on a mmo that will not launch before the second coming instead of beer and hookers.

According to the Mayan calander, we have until Dec. 21 of 2012, so we will have about a year to play it. Of course, it's WoD, so maybe we'll get lucky and the game will get delayed or the Mayan's will be a little bit off.

Umm...if you have played all of those games and are tired of them, either you don't like MMO's or you don't like fantasy. Don't know what to tell you dude. Play Diablo? You can try Dark Age of Camelot, I guess.

City of Heros and City of Villains look to be about the only ones you haven't tried. They are good or about 2 or 3 months, then they get kinda old. Give them a shot.

Totally agree. If only it comes out, it will be awesome. But, as someone who has been waiting for this game for years, I'm not holding my breath.

I think Asheron's Call should be included in that list.  It had a seamless world, contrasted with EQ.  That became a popular concept, even if not often duplicated.  It also was the first MMORPG to really cater to solo play, which I think made other companies more aware of the demand for the ability to solo in MMORPGs.  At that time, EQ was practically group only after about level 15.

Just because a game is new or innovatibe doesn't mean it influences anything. Asherons Call was good and it was innovative for its time, but it really didn't influence other games or projects, nor did it do anything groundbreaking for the genre.

I disagree.  The ability to solo play was a new feature, when compared to the WoW of that time, EQ.  The 2nd generation MMORPGs, AO, DAOC learned from AC that they had better make solo content with their game or they'd miss out on an influential and sizable market segment.  Granted, solo play is not innovative, but it did influence other games by adding a content element that wasn't present in EQ, the reigning king of MMORPGs at the time.

I will say AC's 3rd person camera views were innovative and superior to what the market offered.  So much so, that AO changed their camera views after release after players clamored for a camera view like AC.

AC had a lot to offer that wasn't recognized then and, obviously, now.  I stand by my opinion.

I concur, sir. AC was also more skill based then it was level base, which was the first game to do that as far as I can remember.

I like the idea of Rifts, but I think the problem would become the same thing it becomes in the RPG; eveyone wants to play an MDC charachter or a juicer and my poor Geomatic Immortal gets his ass killed by some freakin dragon or Cosmo-knight. You would have to find some way to put everyone on equal footing, but that would kinda ruin the flavor of the game. I guess you could make it where everyone had to play SDC charachters.

There is no way. The game has just gotten too dated. If they were to take the exact same game and put the AC2 graphics into the game and tweak the game play, add some more quests to it (it's been a long time since I played, so I don't know if they have done that. I mean, back when I played, the Mattekar Coat was THE BOMB. And everyone had at least 1 set of  Amuli. So, my information may be a little dated.)

I think had they had a little more point to the game (not like most of the MMO's now have a point, but you know what I mean) and perhaps something more in the end game content, it might still be fun. But, with all that being said, I had fun playing that game for about 2 and a half years. I used to spend countless hours in the Acid Vault just killing Olthoi and going to the Obsidian Plains and shooting up some Tusker Guards. Man, those were some fun times.

There are so many great authors out there for the Sci-fi/Fantasy genre that haven't really been touched. I think something from Philip K. Dick would be awesome. Total Recall or, better then that, Bladerunner. Not really sure how you would implement either one, though.

Robert Heinlein would be awesome. Starship Troopers (as long as you stay away from that abomination of a movie) would be an incredible game. You could have the 3 main factions that were mentioned in the books (humans, bugs, and the skinnies) and fight over planets.

KoTOR would be really cool, but again, not sure how you would implement that while still maintaining the integrity of the game and what made it great.

Anything based on the DND universe would be cool as long as they didn't base the game on the DND rules (planewalker thing would be awesome, but I think you would get stuck in Ravenloft. Not sure, it's been a while). I don't think it's much fun to play a wizard or sorcerer and only be able to cast 3 spells per dungeon. Granted, that is a bit of an exaggeration, but you get my point. Those kind of things work on table top, where a days campaign takes 3 weeks and most of the game consists of guys asking where the Mountain Dew is and wondering why the paladin just decided to put the druids wolf up on the alter to see if it would turn the wolf to stone. NWN didn't take the 3rd edition rules that far.

Nothing by Whitewolf would work, in my opinion. Those games are not designed to be action RPG's. They are meant for social interaction with a dark world back drop. IMO, I think those games are just not very fun.

Mechwarrior would be cool, but yet again, not sure how you would implement it. Guess it would have to be skill based. Guess maybe as you gain more experience, you can add tonage to your mech. Dang it, they need to come out with a new Mechwarrior game. It's been like 7 or 8 years since Mechwarrior 4.

DUNE I think would work best of all the ones mentioned and would be the most original. About 8 years ago, a french company was working on an MMRTS game that just didn't pan out because the studio went under about 8-10 months before the game was scheduled for release. DUNE is one of those franchises where you could have hundreds of factions and it would go along with the story no problem. Of course, I believe you would want to stay within the first 3 books. Hmmm..wonder if I can get the rights to that IP.

At any rate, that's my thoughts on the topic. Nothing really new there, but I'm sure someone is going to flame me for my thougts on Whitewolf.
