Hey Guys,

I would like to ask you to move all Spellborn beta talk to the Spellborn beta forums on our official website where it belongs.

The beta forum is our official communication channel with our beta test members and it's the only place where the beta can be discussed without breaking our NDA.

If you for any problems reaching these forums please let me know by sending me a pm on this website.

Thanks for understanding,

Hey All,

Today we will send out an email with the beta invitation process to all MMORPG.com Spellborn beta key winners. I will not publish the content of this email here since the content is protected by our NDA policies.

If you, as a winner, haven't received this email within the next 36 hours, please send an email to beta@tcos.com with the subject: "Email request MMORPG.com beta key winner", we will make sure to forward this email to you again. There will probably be some issues with spam filters and we want to make sure all winners receive this update before the weekend.

Please keep in mind that we have a list of winners, so we will cross reference all requests before they are processed. If you are not one of the 250 winners, please don't send us an email claiming a beta key.

We hope that all winners that receive this email will respect our NDA policies and will not publish the content of this email on these or any other boards.

I wish you all a merry Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year!

Cheers,

Hey Guys,

Sorry for not getting back to you before the specified date.

The last few weeks have been extremely busy with a major presence at the G* games expo in Korea and numerous engagements that have resulted from this undertaking. While this didn't have any effect on the development progress, it did take quite some effort from our marketing staff. That same staff is also responsible for a new upcoming trailer that is scheduled to launch on the 30th of November. The content of that trailer got the attention from some major entertainment outlets, which again drove our marketing staff into working 24 hour days.

Behind all this good news lies that sad fact that we didn't deliver on our promise; something that we will make up very soon with an email update too all winners.

Hope this helps (a bit).

More info soon!

Cheers,

Hey All,

The European winners will be part of the European Beta and the US winners will be part of the US Beta. Since the US server is in the process of being launched we decided to invite all 250 winners at the same time. So no head start for the Europeans, but a fair chance for all.  Hope this clears things up.

Freeze.

Hey Guys,

A quick update here from Spellborn HQ:

First of all, we are amazed by the amount of competition entries. While these numbers make us very happy, we will make sure that we can give all the people that didn't win a fair chance to join the open beta when it starts at the end of this year/early 2007.

We are currently finalizing our servers in the US. Since Spellborn requires optimal server connections, we don't want to put the non EU contest winners on a European beta server. This will mean that all 250 contest winners will be allowed to join the beta at the same time as soon as all US servers are up and running and are tested by are QA department.

Expect your client and beta login before the end of November. This might be a disappointment for some (or many) of you, for which we apologise, but we have worked on this project for years and we want to show it to you in its best possible form.

We expect to get the full list of winners from the mmorpg.com staff within the next few days. Winners can expect more details and information via email within 2 weeks.

For those of you that won a beta invite, feel free to send me (Freeze) a pm on our website (
www.tcos.com) if you have any questions or comments. On a side note; we will replace the client on fileplanet before the invites are send out. It will save you a lot of time and bandwidth to not download the current client.

Thanks again for understanding and i hope to see you all soon in the world of Spellborn.

Cheers,

Hello,

The Chronicles of Spellborn features an elaborate crafting system at release.
Players can buy/collect thousands of different recipes that function as a crafting container.
When all resources are found, players can turn in the completed recipe at one of the crafting npcs to get the crafted item.

The only difference with other known crafting systems is the fact that you don't have to make 100 white shirts before you have the skills to make the armour that you really wanted to make.

More info can be found on www.tcos.com

You are right..

Slight slip in the information there..

PeP is always positive. The effects gained by positive PeP ranks have impact on you Morale, Physique and Concentration bars...those bars can be nagative or positive.

For example. When you Physique is lowered by a slowing skill, your runspeed will go down. Your Physique bar will be negative..lets say -4. If you have a PeP rank of 3, you will gain a +3 bonus to your Physique, Morale and Concentration bars. This will mean that the actual impact of the slowing spell will be +3 - 4 = -1. This will mean that players with a higher PeP rank will have an easier time while playing. The numbers used in this example are pure for illustration.

This also explains that losing your PeP rank by dying has quite the impact :)

Hi All,

The Chronicle of Spellborn does have experience for combat. In fact, it even has 2 forms of combat experience;

- Killing mobs will grant the player a small amount of regular xp. Although most regular xp will be gained by successfully completing quests, we do want to offer players a small incentive for the work they have done even if they have failed the quest... So killing monsters grants small amounts of regular xp.

- Killing monster will grant the player with Pep experience. PeP (Personal experience Points) is used to buff players that manage to stay alive for longer periods. PeP comes in different ranks (-5 to +5) with ranks below zero giving negative bonuses and rank above zero giving positive bonuses. The different PeP states have impact on the character's run speed, combat speed en damage output. The fun part is all this is the fact that many of the combat skills have direct impact on the hight of these states...

Well,

you might want to read up on the Spellborn forums on www.tcos.com. The game has this breed of creatures known as Vailyrians. There are rumours that they could very well appear as flying mounts in the future. Imagine big scale PvP battles on flying mounts in the Deadspell Storm... cool stuff. You can find some concept art on them in the website's artwork section http://www.tcos.com/downloads/?type=1&lng=en

This has never been officialy confirmed though..

Each Shard is designed as one big level with instances for certain dungeons, player and guild housing, shops and taverns. Travel between the different Shards can be done by booking passage on one of the Shardships that can travel through the Deadspell Storm. Players with some cash to spare can book a cabin that offers them safe and almost instant travel. Players low on cash or prefering to save their hard earned money can enlist on the Shardships as crew. Travel will be cheap but the player will have to work during the passage to keep the Shardship safe from the many dangers that the Deadspell hides.

Hope this helps.

The Chronicles of Spellborn has some very interesting End Game features. Besides High level content such as Shard conquest, there will be regular content updates that will further enlarge the world and deliver exciting new challenges for players.

Weapons, skills and jewelry can be slotted with unique sigils to further specialise them. These Sigils come in different ranks, with the 2 highest ranks (Rank 9 and 10) only available to players at the current maximum level (level 50). This means that even at the highest level players can still work on reslotting their items and skills with unique End Game sigils.

I hope this info helps.
