I can't get the install to find an .exe file to log in :(

hi thanks for the advice. I am on Windows XP .... any suggestions?

Just installed WAR from the two discs. It says the game has been successfully installed. PROBLEM. I can't find the desktop icon to boot the game up? I looked in the EA files and there is nothing that resembles the icon. Any help please?

No, I paid for Open Beta, I paid for early access and I paid for those in-game items - I expect them all.

I understand what pre-ordering means, however, they've advertised the offers and they must give them to us. It's not just a "Thank You!" when they advertise it in a sale.

When you do get chance to play the game, you will quickly re-orientate your views. I have been playing Open Beta and it is absolutely top drawer, fabulous. Once you get past the rather dull first few levels the game really takes off. Hope you enjoy.

Wow, I really can't believe you have had this experience with Warhammer beta. I have been involved in 8 beta games now and I have to say that Warhammer is by far the best. Once you get past the first few levels the game experience is fantastic. This holds out much promise for the launch in a few weeks. I think the game is first rate.

This thread should be closed immediately. The OP is whingeing about GAO registration for the Open Beta in Europe. The title of the thread is biased, unrepresentative and badly conceived. His comments do not reflect the quality of the beta version of Warhammer.

In fact most people who have had the opportunity to play beta in the US and Oceania are of the opinion that Warhammer is the best MMO to be released in over a decade.

Why are you so offended by someone responding to misinformation with facts?  you posted presenting yourself as knowledgeable about something which you are not.  I simply pointed it out.  truth hurts?  An able bodied adult would not be "Offended" by someone stating an opinion.  You stated yours.  I stated mine.  The fact it is so offensive to you speaks.  :)

it is a fact of life with the majority of people on www.mmorpg .... Offensiveness, rudeness and darn right abuse comes with the territory here. This MMO community is a good reflection on the malaise of modern times.

For example, if I spell abuse wrong, it is likely I will get flamed, accused of being a kid, and told to take grammar lessons for 5 year olds.

As a black orc, I caught a bright wizard alone yesterday. I can't remember what level he was but I think he was 10 and I was 10. I had my renown 6 gear on. I don't know if he did as well.

So he spotted me, and rooted me, then proceeded to shoot fireballs or something at me. I lobbed a few choppas at him until I could move. I caught him and began beating him senseless. Then when he was at about half health another bright wizard joined in. I continued to beat on the one I had started with and finally took him down. Then the second wizard rooted me and finished me off before I could even hit him.

So yes in a 1v1 situation, you're gonna have a hard time with a tank. I think any class will have a difficult time with a tank. In the big open RvR battles though, the bright wizards do massive damage. I was constantly getting nailed by fireballs and AoE's in the battles. From my view it seemed as though 3 or maybe 4 bright wizards could really change the flow of the battle. If we could get to them then they'd be toast but we had a hard time getting to the back where they were.

So yes in a 1v1 they're gonna have trouble since they are squishy. In a bigger battle they should shine as they can put out a lot of damage to a lot of people.

Be good to hook up with old friends and foes from DAoC in Warhammer.

It is ridiculous to proclaim in this kind a cavalier way that MMOs are a failed genre. It is like that crazy conservative historian Francis Fukuyama saying we have reached the "end of history". The recent disappointments of Vanguard, Age of Conan and dare I say Dark and Light, the dominance of World of Warcraft have inevitably led to a depressed feeling in the MMO community. It's very sad to note that Dark Age of Camelot is still the gold standard for hard core players. This is why I agree with Marc Jacobs that Warhammer simply must succeed.

We can speculate about post level 20 combat. All you need to do is some simple research, you think mechanics will somehow drastically change for no reason? The root will also becomes a 20 second root at higher level and I see no root break ability on any of the guardian or conqueror feets

If you played the pvp beta or watch some videos you would know what I'm talking about, this game is not complicated, the only thing that changes when you gain levels is your damage for most melee classes, the soldiers get zero CC breakers, and classes need to be balanced by lvl 20, not until lvl 80
