Creativeheads also deal with the creative director roles... Although short of that I am sure that some indie people you could shoot some ideas to.. Although, I do not know as much about that.

If you were already a qualified game programmer which I am assuming that you are not. (No offense but looking for guidance means you have creative and not programming skills, yet anyways) Here is what I would do. I would start by looking at some grants for college since I am going to assume that you aren't fluent in many programming languages, and check out Full Sail... Once you give them a look over they have a pretty good set of classes for your dream... You go there and really learn instead of bashing beer cans.

Then you get out and get to look for a job.. a good place to go for this would be

Creativeheads.net website which lists companies and what they look for.

In your spare time or with some co-workers hone your skills and then look for some funding to make an "idea area" to try and market your concept to get some financial backing...

Rest is up to you and a good bit of luck.

I will say this tho, MMORPG's are not a good platform to learn to program games on... They are the toughest bar none games to make... You should start with something simple or you may shatter your dreams when you can't seem to figure out which way to go or what to do... Start small and build a good foundation.

Shug for me, I found it to be a bit of a generic bore and so I dont play it. That's really about it entertainment value. For me, I found it had little to hold me. So i split.

As far as MMOs go, none out there. P2P or free, look intriguing, and the ones I tried are gearing to try to take out Quake/Halo more than EQ or WoW. None do any of the following:

    - add actual character diversity (instead of the Human/elf/orc/dwarf/etc line).

    - have set the level too high to be playable without boring grinds (Level 24 quests at 16).

    - have limited scopes on how your character looks.

    - allow RPers to RP in a good server, without PKers.

    - have anywhere near decent graphics.

Methinks the mmo field is falling into the EQ trap, and not wanting to experiment. Any naysayers?

You are aware that some people like to role play "play killers"... As in real life, murders help create a setting for better or worse... Thats not a point against role playing, it adds to the depth.

Vato and Urmaker , when I have time I`ll dig up the commentary from the devs and some other folks regarding the pvp agenda from around the time just before the game launched.

To clarify , the reason it`s often stated that pvp in EQ 2 was added as an after thought is because when the game originaly launched SOE made it clear that they would not be introducing any pvp servers until later , so naturaly people assume that it was never intended to be part of the game.

My point is that it was intended to be part of the game from the start , not that the game was intended to be centered around it.

After doing more research on market prices for certain items I was able to confirm my theory about why the OP burned himself out on low level pvp. The items betweeen level 10 and 20 are selling for several Plat compared to similar items for level 20 and up that sell for as little as 1 gold or less. This is why at level 30 I was able to buy several nice items including Imbued items for a few gold compared to the several hundred in gold people are paying for items under level 20. It`s no wonder he got tired of harvesting and trying to stay equipped at those prices , IMHO a total waste of time and resources just to pvp at starting levels.

His main point was that if you play pvp in EQ 2 you have to put alot of emphasis on being prepared at low levels which is not true unless you are only interested in interacting with that particular segment of players. My point is if you can tolerate what they do to you at low levels without becoming what they are then you won`t have any problem playing and enjoying the game. There`s pvp at every level and it becomes much more balanced as you get higher . No one is forced into having to make a supercharged low level character , it`s a matter of choice , a choice he obviously made to his own undoing.

I was not trying to come across as a masochist , I was simply stating that if a person want`s to solo on a pvp server they will have to endure being knocked around alot by groups who pretty much fight like cowards 5 or more against 1 but that if you can tolerate this then you can eventualy do ok. I group with others when the opportunity arises and also solo , but there are many players who group in order to hunt solo players for an easy kill with no threat to themselves. I don`t group to do this but usually to better defend against those who do , or to help each other quest .

Sure there`s alot of crap but what mmorpg with open pk doesen`t have it`s share? You get the same mix of good and bad players in any game with pvp , anyone not prepared to be subjected to a large amount of idiots is not familiar with open pk . None of this nonsense should discourage anyone from wanting to participate in playing on the pvp servers but I can see how these low level gank squads could give any newcomers a very bad impression from the start. You don`t have to be a masochist but you do have to be tough to put up with the bs .

The problem with this is that while it sounds good on paper. It does not work so well in the game itself. For instance, I had a necromancer, I started grouping almost all of the time with a coercer that I used to play WoW with... We level up to around 12 head out to the karanas to do some questing... Every minute or two we are ganked by stealthing groups or twinks that one shot you... There is no leveling through that sanely.

Now, I am all for open PvP... I don't generally get angry at dying, I look for revenge. You will not experience this in the low level pvp at least with EQ2... The twinking is outrageous and it completely ruins a new players experience with the game. Why should I have to contend with tracking twinked gankers that have no chance of losing to me? and continue to do so just so I can outlevel them and still not get vengeance on them because they camp levels with their characters and max out AA at the bottom levels so they get an completely unbalanced advantage?

I should push through this why? It's a completely broken system, needs a strong revamp and in a hurry... but then again, I don't play this game anymore - so meh.

Meh put it off a buncha times and finally registered on the 26th! Guess I am outta luck unless one of my fellow MMORPG's can hook me up with an account if they have multiples... Or they hate the game or refuse to download that much due to any reason and would like to donate their code or account to me.

Forgot to mention if you fall into any of the above - drop me a PM... Me luv you long time.

Not enough template character customization... Plenty of ways to look but with no gear or anything meaningful to strive for... It's lack luster and repetative.

SWG Pre-CU had an awesome crafting system and it was and is the best crafting system to date...

Only thing that I think could have made it better was to make harvesting extractors very limiting in the quality of resources that they could pull... Or make people use the harvesters so that it limits the market for resources and sends people into the world to get quality resources.

Ever heard the term:You get more bee's with honey?

You ever heard the term: You get more with a kind word and a gun than a kind word alone?
