Yeah yeah yeah, better than  DAOC.  Maybe so, but we'll have to wait and see if we can actually render more than 25 people on the screen at the same time.  Rumors so far have not been pointing towards swift performance numbers.

Peformance was an issue for DAOC though.... I never had too much trouble in a standard keep battle, usually about 75 vs 75, but whenever a relic keep was under attack that could easily swell to over 200 people per side and while some folks could play, my mid-range computer lagged out something fierce. I'd literally see like 3 frames a minute, usually the last one being that of my death.

This time around I'll have a better box (but certain not the best out there) so I'll waiting to see how the big fights end up for me.

Funcom has run events with more than 600 onscreen characters in AO using highly outdated and buggy game engines that were not originally designed to handle such a load. Somehow I doubt they will have many issues with half that using their newly rebuilt one, so long as the client computers have decent specs at any rate.

theres no way you can compare the 2 gaming engines, since there is a huge difference in graphics, and aoc is much more computer intensive

I keeping an open mind about this game but it is still under NDA.

One of the problems I have with a lot  of the games is there is just way to many base classes/roles that tend to put a big time sink on putting together groups for doing group based content.

my number one concern..no matter how great a game can be...performance will kill it

and seeing as how fanbois have nothing bad to say about the game makes me even more skepticle.  Until i see proof with my own eyes that a) the system can handle mass pvp and b) you will not need a huge highend system for this game....well...i am just going to wait a few months after launch...tired of buying overhyped trash and not hearing anything about it till after launch...especially a company which refuses to lift the nda till launch date

or imagine this scenario...your guild is all destruction..and you go roll a new toon alt, but due to destruction being so heavily overpowering than order...you cannot roll a destruction toon and join your guild.

Thats just bad mechanics

Nor can it have amongst it's employees ANYONE on the NGE blacklist.

People such as Cao, Smed, Ward, Torres, Heliass, McDaniel, Blixtev, etc.

AoC can never be a WoW killer due to a) M rating b) the graphic requirements are very high....just those two without anything doing with gameplay will hinder it. But who cares? Why do games need to be a wow killer. I was very happy for 5 years in SWG and it was never a WoW killer

No offense but that sounds awful. I dont care for buttons-smashing type games at all. In fact I despise them.

Can I just be a crafter like in SWG if I prefer ?

nope :(

not to take sides or anything...but until you guys (blindly raging hatebois) actually attempt to do some of the things corros do for free...then maybe then you would be sticking your foot in your mouth after. Fanbois and hatebois alike are both making complete mockery of current and past fanbases.

I wouldn't be caught dead anymore associating with either side...cause you are both just as bad as the other. Consider me the grey fanbase....cause frankly you both are blind to what the other side feels/needs due to your involvement or emotional attachment to this game.

I played SWG longer than 99% of the gaming population, from closed beta to 6 months ago. Reading the official forums makes me whimper at the community, watching my own home of valcyn's forums turn into a bunch a whining leetspeakers...then you have the steroid induced, blindly raging hatebois, who make me sad and embarrased to have even been associated with you half the time.

Maybe each of you should step into each other's shoes for a day...then maybe you both would get over the other.

Changing a live game to the extent that SOE did, in secret, KNOWNING that the players of the old system would NOT like it and leave, all the while taking our money to pay for those changes, is immoral.

Jeff Freeman, one of the guys involved in deliberately doing it that way even admits this.

Whether or not what SOE did was legal or not (I don't think it was legal either), it is inarguable that what Smed and company did was immoral.  If it weren't, they'd have done it openly, wouldn't they?

Back on topic (guys, don't let the fanboi trolls get us off topic), the fact that they said one thing about the senate forums and are doing another, and discussing game changes with select arse kissers, shows that SOE hasn't learned one damn thing from the NGE.  Show me don't tell me.  The secret forum being misused shows me.

And should show you.

You were paying for the game Pre-NGE up until the NGE hit, then you stopped paying - you havent lost out at all. They werent trying to defraud anyone, they were trying to make more money, however they planned it terribly. If you guys need to tell yourself its immoral and a terrible thing to do to justify arguing about the game 2 years later to yourself, then fine.

actually he played the nge for a long time....paying and playing

Shoot me down if you dont think i have the right to say this, as i admit i have only been around these area's for the last few weeks now i started to play the game but, Salvaje you dont seem to have much respect for anyone who has any interest in the game :) from what i have read of yours you just can't seem to accept that some people actually like this game and will do anything to get us to stop :)

Actually as someone who, like him, has continued to play the game long past it was due, he has only shown respect for PLAYERS who like the game. What I find he has no respect for is players who LIE about the game, paint a false rosey picture of the game; or flame people who don't like the game.

While there are people here who hate the fact that some people like the game; Salvaje isn't really one of those. He played the game for longer than most and hoped for the best, as well as tried to make the game better for over a year before he got sick of it.

As you say, you have only been observing for a few weeks. Most of the sidewars here with individual posters have been going on a lot longer than that, and you are kind of walking into the middle of an ongoing debate. Try and develop a more total context about what is going on here from the various posts.

I know this is difficult, but give it a shot :)

lol...now that IS funny....i can pull up countless posts where he says anyone who plays the NGE is destroying Star Wars, he mocks the current player base constantly, and he def thinks the nge community and players are inferior to pre nge ones (supposed vets).  So if you like , i can sit around the next few mins and pull them up...

Best community there ever was, was in SWG pre nge.

want to see how XP decay affects gameplay? perfect example is SWG post Restuss/GCW revamp

Prior to this, there was tons of pvp, small to large skirmishes, usually found at anytime. Once they added pvp points and ranks and rewards...you would no longer get battles and skirmishes, at some times pvp totally died. People refused to fight anymore if they knew it would cause xp/rank decay...and only large groups who knew they outnumbered everyone else at the moment would pvp....once they would die, they wouldn't return. Popular reason, they lost enough rank xp and didnt want to lose anymore.
