....again excellent advice from Kyleran.
The point he/she makes is right on the money.
Except he/she is a member of the Dark Side (just kidding..Ive played all three realms...pick one that catches your fancy. Mythology is from Norse-Midgard, Celtic-Hibernia, and Arturian (think King Arthur)--Albion. All three are cool realms to play in, and each is vastly different that the others. Do the new player quests! They are for the most part easy, will provide you with equipment and weapons, and your first 5 levels, but more importantly teach you the game mechanics and some of the areas you will need to know as a new player. to talk to others: /s hello = you say hello to those around you. /y hello = you yell hello to those around you /gu hello = you say hello to people in your guild. ( you will startin the new players guild by default--thay can sanswer questions for the most part. But keep in mind that it is for new players, so you may get some bad advice from the inexperieced know-it-all). /bc hello = hello to people in your battle group /as hello = hello to people in your alliance /gc hello = hello to peoplein a chat group. There are many players manuals out there. Best advice is to read up on the Herald (Kyleran posted a link above), and when you have a question in the game, dont be shy about asking someone. Good luck to you and welcome to DAoC! |

What Kyleran said! New to the game? The quest system will get you rolling right along. the backstory is interesting and will provide you with something else to do from level 1-50. Exploring your realm is important. I've played for 5 years <3 as a Hib> and the lands are beautiful and quests are everywhere to do in each realm. I've never run out of things to do, and with the new expansion, it just adds more to an already full plate.
Good luck and have fun..thats what its all about anyway. |

Correction to the above poster. Hibernia has had the underpopulation bonus for the last few months, and it was incorrect, as they actually have had the highest. Mythic has stated on the Herald that they are aware of this oversight and will fix the problem that happend back when they clustered the server. BGs are no way to judge population. The zerg changes almost monthly. One month it may be Hibs having the nimbers, the last few its been the Mids. As for NF, mids have the most 8 man guilds of either realm. And they have perfected the AssJam..ask in game what that means. Hibs are the easiest of the three to play since they have the numbers, they have the classes that have exploits that are easy to do and use <bainshees still casting through wall not fixed> and lastly, the Cata classes are were made for NoN TOA servers, and any nerfs that would make them on par with the rest of the classes would have to be judged from a NON TOA point of view. Classic servers arent taken into consideration for that. I would say pick the realm that has the lore you think you would most enjoy. Midgard is Norse mythology with Vikings, Valkyries, dwarves and Trolls. Hibernia is Celtic Mythology with Celts, Elves, Lurikeen, and Firbolgs. Albion is the home of Camelot and reflects Arturian mythology in its classes of Britons, Highlanders, Saracrens, and Half Ogres. (only a few of the races mentioned here.) All the realms reflect the mythology with alot of fantasy mixed in--allows for many new story lines and quests this way.

I an a GM of a guild on Gareth, Albion side. Buying plat is not neccessary if you are new to the game. Look for a guild that suits you and if it is oneworth its salt, the members will get you rolling with help, equipment, and direction. The best thing to do if you are new is to introduce yourself to the game by doing the early quests, or new player quests. The quest system in DAoC is incredibly detailed, and the storylines are great. The places to Quest move you through the games many Albion zones, and into Catacombs-the aqueducts, then into the Icconu Crypt, the Deadlands, then onto Glastin Forge and the Underground forest. There are quests to be found in dozens of huge areas Im not even listing. Quests provide you with money , experience, and in some cases, nice equipment. As a previous poster mentioned, on the classic servers crafters are in very high demand. And thats crafting armor and weapons for people lvl 20+ for the BGs, and eventually RVR.
The CLassic servers are far from dead. Massive wars in NF have been the theme lately, and we Albs are defending for our lives.
The new expansion coming out will add even more spice to a game I have loved for 5 years. If you need a hand with questions and your unsure of who to talk to, do a /who Angelic Redemption and anyone form my guild will glady point you in the right direction.
Try the 14 trial. And cya in game. Grimm, GM of Angelic Redemption. AR.guildportal.com
Edited for spelling. |
