First, I didnt read all the posts so I dunno if your questions were answered at all. this is just my two cents.

I, like you, am a WoW junkie. Play my pally and war a lot and am even going to blizzcon. I love the game, and can't wait for WotlK to come out (want my Deathknight!). That being said, i was very anti-WAR. "All they are doing is trying to kill wow, and they never will. It will be a failure the first week!." I kept saying this line to everyone I know. I was even in WAR beta and didn't like it, although I didn't even get pass level 4. Well, WAR came out and a few of my friends (old DaoC players) went to try it out.... I laughed at them. One of my friends bought me a copy for my birthday and said "Just try it for the free month, then quit if you don't like it."  So I did. I jumped on, created a Dwarf Engineer and pressed the play button. I started playing, and all I could think was..."This is WoW" And in reality it was really like WoW....for the first few levels. Then I hit my first player vs player  area and my opinions of this game was proven wrong.

I'm only level seven and there is already epic Order vs Chaos battles....at level seven! In WoW, i would be killing kobolds outside IF, in happy non contested area...picking flowers. From level 1 through 7 i saw so many different areas, WAR is always keeping you on the move never letting you get drained of the same area for ten levels. In WoW at level 6 I would just be about to head to my second zone. WAR even gets deeper, you have 3 different exp bars, one for regular exp, one for pvp, and one for public quests (infamy). I guess what! Killing a player of the opposite faction actually gives you experiance for your regualr experiance bar.

I feel like I might be rambling so I leave it at this. WAR is a fresh breath of air, a change of pace. It has a lot to offer you. Before you jump into WAR, you should enjoy pvp somewhat, but I think that even if you don't WAR can make you appreciate it. So i recomend you buy it for the free month try it out, and see if its for you, but get pass level 8 or 10 to actually make an accurate opinion of it.  I still love WoW, don't get me wrong, but hey! who says you can't play 2 MMOs?

Before playing any mmo games I used to play games such as Diablo1&2 and Starcraft all the time. I would like their new MMO to be Diablo 3 but I fear Diablo 3 will be just another rpg in 3D.

Don't fear Diablo 3 being just a RPG in 3d... if that's the way they go it will still be an amazing game.

The fact that the picture looks like ice obviously makes you think of WotLK, but then again it could also be crystals/protoss things. The symbols around the picture can be linked to all 3 franchises. One of them resembles the largest rune on Arthas's blade at the WotLK website, one represents the rune "Hel" from Diablo 2, and one is the protoss racial symbol. I give Blizz the thumbs up for leaving us all guessing.

to me it kind of seems like they are putting each game on the outside of the pictures via runes. Starcraft, World of warcraft, Diablo.. then maybe Warcraft and even Lost Vikings...then maybe perhaps unveil something new. Just a theory tho..as is everything about this is right now....just theories

Well.... Diablo 3 is coming if you like it or not. If it is Blizz's next MMO is another story. What its looking like is that we will hear something this weekend at Blizzard's World Wide Invitation in Paris. Last one they had was in Korea and they announced Starcraft 2. This Invitational's BIG announcement won't be WotLK or starcraft 2... why bring people from all over the globe to show them something from these already announced games. Check out 1up.com's atricle about the blizzard announcement on their home page for some more insight.

What I think on the other hand, is mixed thoughts/opinions. If Diablo is in fact their next MMO, it won't be announced this weekend meaning that there will be maybe a new Blizzard IP. I think it might be Diablo 3, but it won't be an MMO. I would love to see Blizzard to take a new direction and try a new IP... It has to happen someday, they can't survive on only Starcraft, Warcraft, and Diablo.

I have to agree. and i thought EQ2 was bad with armor looking the same

I get a TON of armor drops but its just the same stuff

It almost seems like wasted development time to design hundreds of unique looking gear for starting areas that will be obsolete in 2-5 lvls anyways.  I think he is talking about stats anyways.

I play a HoX, simply nuts.  They have so much going for them in pve and pvp.  I do not know from personal experience but I hear that bear shaman are a pain in the ass to level 1-20.  Not that it's impossible but hard.  My HoX is level 30 atm, but at 29 I could 2 shots 4 mobs at level 31.  Yes they are that good.

just got my bear sham to 20 tonight, and I have to agree. It was hell getting it too 15. Luckily there is no death penelty before tn so deaths are just a run back. But now I tear through mobs like nothing, and with that extra healing capability, it almost seems overpowered. Very likely going to be my class of choice even after getting my barb to 33. It is a very fun class that is in no way underpowered after lvl 20... before lvl 20 is a whole different game

You are lvl 18 man. of course your not going to get great blue items and awesome looking gear. In every MMO I've played I don't ever remember being like "Oh Shit! look at this bad ass lvl 18 2h axe!"  You are in the starter area, so you will get starting gear. just lvl a bit, do some grouping later on and grab some of the better items.

On a side note the temple instance (Achediem, or something like that) there are some really neat looking items with some decent stats for your lvl.

Not an MMO but Desktop tower Defense always keeps me busy when bored. Its a flash game, juss google it. Or dungeon runners, don't like the game too much but its kinda fun to screw around on.

Few tips for Bear shaman: One) Keep Autoface off, and this is true for any melee class. This makes it much easier to hit multiple opponents. Two) Keep your renew up and blood flow before you rush in, and remeber to keep them up when ever you have the chance. Bear through it all ^_^ and you will be very happy even after lvl 15. But like everyone else is saying, 25+ is where Bear Shaman really shines. I dropped playing my barb for this class. I can usually take 4-6 mobs no problem (sometimes using a potion)

Really give this class a shot if you really think it's something you would like to play. Don't base it on the 1-20 levels. Plus, once you get that high and you do relize you might not like BS, it's not that long to get lvl 20.

Hope some of this helped.

Maybe you should have pre-ordered for a brick and mortar store then.....  How is it funcom's fault that you chose the wrong shipping, or chose to buy from a retailer that didnt do the early shipping? Please cancel your order...just please do.

Since when have you been able to play any game with out purchasing it first? I know I couldn't play GTA4 until I put the game in the drive. Don't have a retail key? Are they gunna have an honor system where they just trust you to have the game ordered..lol

They are MMOs none the less. MMO players compair all MMOs to one another. Wgich one has a more fun factor is usually the compairing attribute, but yeah it really depends on your play style.

I'm a long time WoW player, having raided pre-BC, and post BC our guild made it decently far into SSC and TK. I wasn't in the most hardcore raiding guild but I think i know my stuff (except for arena). I came to AoC for a change of pace and a change of scenery, and it did just that. The graphics are superb. Even with no Dx10 version till August, AoC still has some of the best graphics on the market right now. As for combat it's nothing revolutionary as I'm sure you have heard but it certenly beats spaming frost bolt or the weapon timers. You swing when you want to, and that adds ome sort of activity that most MMOs miss.

I can't really comment on end game since my barabarian is only lvl 28 now, but I'm not too worried bout n e of that. They will cater to end game players if there is a lack of any of it. It is a very solid game, with a few issues that need to be resolved. IF you are on the verge of buying it, my advice is go out and spend the 50 bucks, try it for the free month then make your decision. I love the game personally and am no way going back to WoW.

Im just hit 20 last night, didn't take me too long to get. A few people in my guild are 30+. People will always power through the game no matter how easy or hard, it's a fact of life. I think leveling isn't that easy, it does go by fast sometimes (time flys when your havin fun)  Should take me a while to get 80 being more casual/busy than the core gamers.

All developers cater to end game and max level content in MMOs, so even if there might be a lack in end game, it will come in due time.

If someone is going to base a game on what trolls say before they even play, maybe they shouldn't play after all. My opinion: Play the game, make your own opinion.

Depends on what you think is worth it. It comes with some pretty nice/novelty in-game items; A cape that grants free drinks from taverns for life, a +xp ring, and some artwork and Cds/DvDs...could be interesting

Now what I want to know is will I be able to use my CE code to get those In-game items for Early-Access? i want to use my cape :)

I was thinking of rolling on tyranny but I guess it really doesn't matter. Im a long time MMO player, and usually strive for endgame (though I like to take my time and enjoy the content ). I guess I'm looking for a raiding guild, with a lower PvP priority. Let me know if any guilds out there are would like to have me and 2 of my roommates (one experianced MMo player and the other is a casual player)

I plan on rolling a barb or Necro...still undecided.

Are you downloading from the link that they gave you in your email? They are having issues with people downloading from the wrong source that are being posted and various forum sites and even official forums.  If you are infact downloading from the right place, I can't help ya till I finish the download my self.

All of that is true, so unless they have implemented something to prevent this that I havn't heard of....then yes. People exploit, this is true for everything, and AoC will be no acception. Its sad that they have to be the first, and most 1337 players ever. I guess "To everyone their own." I for one would rather take this new game and explore every nook and cranny and enjoy my time leveling and learning the game. Will they be at a disadvantage? Maybe, maybe not. Will they have as much fun as people that are playing legitimatly? Depends on what they define as fun.

Wether they take this out, or fix it some how (ie diminishing returns), they will find a way to exploit it in a new way.

Played a Barb for OB, and maxed my stealth out. It wasn't very hard to get out of the ganking area. All I really have to say is... wow.  This game is truely beautiful. Only made it a little ways out but I was extremely impressed.
