Great update. Getting more hopeful, and looking forward to the videos.

I really do not understand why so much emphasis is put on graphics over game play. I see a lot of crying about the graphics of the forums about DF. As long as it plays how it is promised the graphics should come as an afterthought as they can be upgraded.

And i agree. They should show more videos, even if they are short. They are far more tangible than a few screen shots.

Game play > graphics

If you really think that darkfall will have anywhere even near 100,000 subs you need to wake up because that won't ever happen.

Darkfall would be very LUCKY to even see 10,000 active subs in todays mmo market.

Are you joking? Maybe not near 100,000. But alone, taking all the frustrated ex UO players, and others sick of Dumbed down extra ordinary linear game play. And maybe those people who paid for TR and are kicking themselves (hehe). That there will be 10,000+. I definitely think that combining those players and those who want a change of game play, or like the sound of a non-linear experience, will combine to be much more than 10,000. But in the end it doesn't really matter, we all like different things.

As you state youself you "older timers" are just  an small market share, why would an company invest in that? Oh beside that more then enough poeple new to MMOs do love UO, EQ and MUDS games.

PS: Wii is an very mature game consule, do not mess with the Wii else I be sending chuck norris after you....yes I had to do that....sorry.

The average gamer today is most likely around 33-40. and the top pc game buyer is 40 years old. The Nintendo generation never stopped playing my friend =)  Not so niche in my opinion.

Colbert has made a great point about the idiocy of media and society today. That celebrity is more important than policy. Have many/any of you media entrenched Americans even taken time to look through the candidates policies and agendas? What does Colbert stand for? His persona is an adopted one for media, playing off the O'Reily style of presenting and ego humping. Open you god damn eyes people.

Your capitalist system has destroyed any sense of national identity and replaced it with a For-Profit business model of government which leaves the poor disenfranchised, and uses the media to make you all accept middle class values so you don't give a damn whats happening to the world outside of your bubble.

Why the HELL would anyone want another wow? Havn't enough peoples social lives, school lives, university lives, friends & family been negatively affected enough by such an awful linear soul sucking game?      I would never wish such a fate upon anyone, even people i despise. I suppose there will be those out there addicted no matter what the game, yet wow brought it to a new level of sad.

Thing is, prices do NOT have to go up everyday. Its just that the private company called "the federal reserve" which is no more federal than Federal express, prints money with immediate interest attached to it. Thats what your taxes go to pay for. Which by the way (there is no law saying you have to pay taxes, so stop paying for your countries debts). Also how good do you feel knowing out of every dollar, 50 cents of that goes to killing those in the world who don't agree with the "doctrine of the new american century". And killing great peoples just because they wont comply with corporate, banking, and oil interests. Watch "Zeitgeist" and come out of that bubble.

$19.95 seems a bit steep for a month. As personally i usually only get to play 1-2 hours a night, and rarely on weekends unless i want to try and do it drunk. For people who play 12 hours a day or whatever and are starting to develop a hump from bending over the keyboard, this may be a great deal. I intend to play AoC to check it out, and i can deal with $20.00, but i know there are many in my situation who have lives and jobs and wont be able to power game.  It wont change, so ill have to deal with it..

The End.

I'm making an MMO thats going to have open PvP, closed PvP, PvE encounters, instanced PvP, instanced PvE, RvR, FFA servers, RP servers, RP-PvP servers, RP-PvE servers, merc lvls, PvE lvls, PvP lvls, dwarfs, orcs, elves, demons, ghost, mounted combat, slow mounts, tall mounts, flying mounts, underwater mounts, NPC towns, Player driven towns, keeps, towers, outpost, mines, casters, archers, tanks, healers, aim based combat, turn based combat and fun fluff critters. The name of my game is Vaporware Online, I don't have any in game footage but I promise, Its coming soon.

I forgot, it will also have dragons, can't forget those.

Very well informed concise response there.

Why wouldn't a games developer try to go outside of the cookie cut box? Many players want this. It is not just a niche market either as there are so many types of game play that will cater to many different types of gamers. Rp's like myself will probably find this game a haven. PvP lovers will find this game like a drug. People who like crafting will actually be needed. Anyone who liked Oblivion I'm guessing will enjoy the title. People who have been craving a respite from gear-centric level based game play may find a home. Plus the dizzying amount of skills planned, the open game style, your ability to hopefully effect your environment, the HUGE map.

Is it too outside your narrow view to consider a company would want to give its players as much as possible, or are you just so used to the standard crap that has become modern MMO's?

ps. Look at the facts before you make such a belated overused claim such as:

"Darkfall is vaporware.

The End."

I could make an assumption that you probably didn't graduate high school and have a severe learning disability, yet i can't back it up with evidence so i wont assume as such.

It's an offense to privacy if you ask me. That's the real big issue there. Who's to say the guy you show your face to is a not a pervert.

Besides you can always have some girl in front of the webcam for you. a bit stupid that whole idea

It's a communist country... they don't care about the privacy of their people. It's do what they say or go to prison.

Oh an is America any different? New laws that entitle the govt and private defense firms to wire tap, spy, and read through your mail/e-mail. Only difference is that US does it secretly. And communism is better than fascism, id rather my gov't try to support me than a bunch of privatized businesses thats only goal is to achieve profit, at the expense of the customer. Be it in health, security, or any other newly torn apart public sector.

"The welfare state is not conducive enough for a rise in ecomomic figures, even if  those figures only represent the 5% of the wealthy elite", oh well. Sure in China there is censorship, maybe because the influance of the morbidly greedy westerners is a scary thing to them. maybe democracy in all of its corporate glory isn't their idea of a free society. Plus is US media open? I have never seen such controlled news, and such blatant pushing or corporate and banking interest into the minds of any peoples, and i have been to china.

Hmm what set that rant off? ill slap my own wrist and go have some coffee.

After hearing on the vine a while back that Huxley had changed to a non-fps style of game play and rather something like Tabula Rasa, i instantly lost all interest. Now realizing it is a FPS and seeing the Unreal like fights in videos, set in a persistent world..... I realized what an idiot i have been. This game looks absolutely amazing, Abso-Frikin-Mazing. Screw all the cookie cut fantasy mmo's (except darkfall ofc), the action and pace of this seems wicked.

Cant believe it doesn't have more attention. I just hope this is neocron on a speed and meth binge. I know its korean, and has the sort of style, i actually find it a bit refreshing since i dont play Kor-grindathons.

Jeebus crisps..... Reckon it will be rockin?

As Korvix said. This game needs A lot of work done to it before it could even be close to release. I can see this being pushed back another month or two.

First off, i absolutely love Stargate so i am not bashing it here. But i am already getting ready to be let down by another fantastic story going to pot in a wow-clone style of game. *kill xxx mobs for lv xxx, take x to y for exp for lv xxx, need lv xxx for gear with +xyz* Lets hope they go outside the box. Do not try and aim for the 12-16 demographic. make a story driven game that will appeal to fans of the series and not just try and make a quick buck off the name *Stargate*. Though i think im wasting my time hoping.

Sry But OP Go back to "WoW" where everything is handed to you so you get sick of the game in a week instead of yrs. You do realize its supposed to be an MMO standing for Massive Multiplayer Onliine game right in other word massive to the point that you dont get held by the hand unless you ask for help from other Hmmm.. Kind of works like that in RL don't it? Think about it your parents could put the training wheels on and put all kinds of padding on you. But if you dont want to ride the bike you will still not learn. Noone can implant the knowledge of actually riding into your head.

In Wow its soo great that i can run right outside the main gate door and gain a lvl and more ability's  just by auto attacking a mob. And ohh wow I lvled I can use more skills. Why dont you just ask for a game that when you log in your auto Max lvl and have everything in game. Then you can just sit around and look pretty.

The Learning used to be the time sink in those day's thats what you seem to grasp. As for training skills the vets that still play proilly havent trained skills in 5+ yrs not to mention when they did even when the skills where hard gain system you could still lvl your skills fast you just had to know how. Expl.. A new player gets in game and a vet next to him the vet will know if he casts low lvl spells over and over he will gain. the new player dose not know this. So for someone who has never played UO they will still gain slow and hard unless they communicate to others and get the required info on how to gain fast.

I just returned to UO after 3 yrs and Im loving it again. And I played the plethora of crap out today and find that the day I logged into UO i got the old feel back right away one I havent felt in yrs in any other mmo. L2,WOW,EvE,GW,planetside,and a bunch of freebee's.

I have a feeling a lot of vets will be returning soon especially when the next round of clones come out. Unfortunately I have hopes for WAR but alas I see a Spawn point res system in the works (and no i didnt research this)but I got a feeling. Not to mention classes IMO ruined MMO's. Anytime you implement classes it restricts the pvp IMO. The guy that donsent like healing can still toss off a GH to someone if they need it in UO. Not many people play pure healers in the class systems and that is the downfall of pvp. When a team isent relying on themselves to stay alive and just let members die to be respawned that is crazy. I just think you want everything handed to you OP and if thats the case you'll be plenty please with the upcomming clones. If you want a world to adventure in and get lost in playing well only UO delivers IMO.

Hah, firefox crashed my reply, then i realized i would be repeating Sophist here.

*agree*   Dont you get sick (the op) of being spoonfed games designed not to test the mental ability of a 8 year old?

I was given the impression while reading through the Darkfall forums that it would take a lot longer than a year to max skills. There will be a silly number of skills in the first place, with diminishing speed at which they increase as you gain more in your skills. There is a soft cap to the skills. so after you reach that cap the speed at which you gain skills will slow way down. Someone may max all their skills. but kudos the 3-4 (unfounded estimate) year vet who manages to grind all skills to max, if they do, they earned the right to use them .

Anyways, having more in a skill than someone may not necessarily save your ass.  Got to be good with those skills you learned, know how to use the tactics your skills require, the ways to beat certain opponents. What I'm saying is that unless there is a massive skill point difference i think from what i have read, player skill will be still the most important factor. Hope so anyways!

As for the perfect dps/heal/tank , there may be penalties for wearing armor while using magic (can't remember). But to have a decent player pretty soon you would have to pick a certain amount of skills to raise under the soft cap, so it would probably be a smart idea to specialize early on instead of trying to be mediocre in several areas.

This is a selfish approach at best.

 Yours isn't?

As you disregard the pleasure of the majority, only for the pleasure of the minority.  This lead eventually to having only the minority playing the game, and when they are left alone, without the majority, they dwindle and miss the majority.

What if the game is marketed as one that is PvP focussed?

Enforcing a gameplay on another player is bad design at best.  If handicapped peoples would make MMOs, I would expect to see enforced PvP, enforced Raiding, enforced everything.  But from supposedly free-willed and supposedly intelligent devs, enforcing these gameplays on CUSTOMERS who are looking for another gameplay (be it PvE crafting, soloing or grouping), this is ridiculous.

I take it that on the other hand, you feel that imposing PvE gameplay on a PvP player IS ok?

I have nothing against the idea of a FFA server, or a PD server...but honestly, never do it for the whole game, at the expanse of the remaining of the game.

Why not? As you have already implied, PvP and PvE don't mix. Try thinking outside the stereotypical MMO box...

(lazy but...) /agree
