As a player of Eve for over a year, 3years Ultima Online, 2 years WoW, you are all screwy on the travel times. Until I got runes in UO, EVE has the others beat on travel times. With the others you are constantly piloting your avatar around obstacles, I can chat with friends, research market prices or even setup remote buying and selling while I am traveling. All MMOs use travel as a time sink at least with EVE you can make some use of it. Trying to get a raid group from Ironforge to wherever takes 15-20 minutes every mission. I got tired of WoW because of the huge amounts of downtime, how long it takes to form a group and get them to move. With EVE I can be running missions or fighting PvP in a few minutes from loggin on. Best thing though is not worrying about all the l33t adolescents power gaming past me I just through a long skill to train to when I can't play do to family or work.

I logged onto Eve over the weekend and it had 32k+ logged on. Nice to have a game world where everyone can play at once. No stupid pogo sticks driving me crazy either. Looking forward to see Vanguard because of all the nice eye candy.

I have done the RL running around in body armour, you put 60lbs of gear on and see if you can get a foot off the ground let alone the Micheal Jordan esque leaps and bounds. That is one of the reasons I don't like FPS is the lack of realism and you want to try to add twitch based system to make it more "realistic" with people bouncing around like ping pong palls? Right. You got to remember that a twitch based system rewards those with low latency and if a game developer wants to have a worldwide reach they will be incorporating auto-target for a good deal longer than ten years. Yes many countries are very wired but there are big gaps in coverage. I would say 20-30 years before the network system infrastructure is in place before auto target fades away.  They go twitch it will force the game into a small niche and no matter how much the developers have a love for the game if they can't get it to pay they can't afford to have that content. Like RL money is goiing to be the deciding factor.

That was a mistake. The tutorial is not the best I have ever seen but Eve is the one game I have played that mandated you actually do the tutorial. After that it wasn't so hard. I made my first million isk that very day just by doing what the tutorial said. I hooked up with a 0.0 alliance and even in my little osprey was helping rake in the isk, because I could haul too. After 7 months though I still think I am a noob because Eve offers so much to learn. I quit WoW and SWG for this game because of its depth. I also like to carry a few exotic dancers with me wherever I go though.

I have to agree UO was a better game for its time. Yes its graphics are outdated now, but there was more depth, in story, crafting, and especially PvP.  A friend got me to try WoW because he was this PvP gamer,  one day I watched him he just stood there. I was used to UO having to dart in and try to time your swings, it was interactive.

I have tried UO, EQ, WoW, almost all SoEs games, City of Heroes/Villans and numerous betas trying to get the same rush and community I had with UO. EVE is the closest,  you can build stations (cities in other games) and have them blown up or taken away from you. You get pounced on by a gang and the rush of adrenaline you get when you realize there is no avatar reset and you will lose all the gear you have worked for a month to acquire if you don't outrun/outsmart/outfight them is awesome.  With WoW if you are not level 60 in a month your just a worthless noob. Since I like not to be chained to my computer all the time and go to "outside" everyonce in a while and also see my girlfriend it would be nice if more games made more of skill so that I didn't get ganked by 8 year olds all the time.
