Don't forget that, until January, you are still going to be paying 15$ or so a month to play, on top of the cost to buying whichever box you choose to get.

For me, it's worth it. I'll enjoy starting over again, at least for the next few months. The concept alone was unique, and I am curious to see what's changed since last year.

This is kind of sad:\

I enjoyed the game immensely in closed beta, however being the gamer that I am, the lack of end content and persistent bugs left OVER from beta quickly made me cancel my paid subscription.  The concept itself was unusual, and I did enjoy the mechanics. I figured, however, that this would happen....I just didn't expect it to be so soon.

Ah, well. I may resubscribe, just to give it a go again.

Here's my video from End of Beta. Not the best, but it definitely makes me nostalgic.

Without being smarmy...

Just how far along into game have you played? T2, T3? T4?

There are some of us whom have been involved since early in closed beta and...whilst there are issues out there (some of which keep rearing their ugly heads), those are far fewer and in between than, say, AoC (which, to be frank, I loved but it was way too buggy, laggy, and PVP was sub-par).

Keeps? There are a real benefit. What I see often in game are people rushing their way to 30 or 40 via PQs/PVE, and totally bypassing the renown (RVR) system. THIS in the end will hurt drastically, because once that threshold is crossed into T4, all gloves are off, and they will be lacking skills/points/tactics that would be a benefit to a team, instead of a pointless (literally) hinderance.

There are some scenarios to me that are frustrating: T2 would be PG (too much of a turtlefest); T3 would be Doomfist crater (mostly because people just don't know how to properly play it and capture/take that centre). Being into T4 myself , I haven't really experienced quite as much on live as I did during CB, since I'm now on a Tome Unlock fest (for a break), but I do pop in for the occasional scenario, or work on my alts. Most of the T4 scenarios have changed drastically since beta, so I'm still unsure of this one.

RVR - and the enjoyment factor - will depend on whom you're grouped with at the time. Make a note of those player names that are competent/incompetent, and put them on your will/won't group with list. Scenarios are a crapshoot in this matter, unless you manage to get lucky and get a guild group or 2 in at the same time.

Targeting - definitely an issue, one which puts my panties in a bunch when I'm trying to hit that nearest target AM or Zealot (depending on what character I am playing).

Someone pointed out earlier T4 and keep owning. The rewards from that are *truly* priceless, and will make holding that keep (and taking others) all the more fun.

I wasn't looking to join the good/bad guys. I was looking for which faction attracted more team oriented players.

Neither side will.

Both sides will have equal shares of all types of players.

Pick the Race and Class  YOU  want to play.
Get good at it.

This is very good advice.

If you are looking for the 'underdog', then you'll probably be looking for Order. If you're looking for the one that is on top mostly, then Destruction is your game. If, however, you're just looking to play a fun class....read up on the various classes available and find one that interests you.

Melee/healer/hybrid/caster - pick your fancy and go with it. Don't look for people to tell you what you should play. Give them all a whirl.

This would be an excellent thing to file with the in-game feedback tool...

An interesting idea, but...I'd be leary of one myself

Some of my most fun gaming over the years was way back 'in the day' on some of the various Dune MUSHs (3 at one point, I was active on at one time or another).  An MMO representation of the universe could be interesting, but I have a hard time really thinking that the universe could be done well.

The world of Warhammer IS NOT one of sunnyt trails and beautiful sunsets.

It is a dark, depressing and miserable world...and frankly, the devs have captured that spot on. If you aren't familiar at all with Warhammer (from tabletop to books), then I can see how one might be let down because everything isn't sunshine and roses, or a lack of 'attractive' content.

I'm still trying to figure out why the AO account I canceled 5 years ago is banned.

So, I guess that counts, maybe...

OP:

Girls would never be attracted to a sci-fi type MMO. We are easily distracted by flashing lights and oooh shinies.

Seriously...what in hell. This isn't 1995, dear. Women have always been interested in science fiction/computers/fantasy (and not necessarily the type that involves something battery operated).

I am guessing you would be quite surprised at the amount of females that actually play sci-fi based MMOs

Wonderful.

WoW = PVE

WAR = PVP/RVR

Enjoy your BGs.

This would have happened no matter who went into office, I'm just sick of everyone always blaming George Bush. I personally don't like him either, but the man is our president, so he obviously has to be smart.

I appreciate your stance on Mr. Bush. I honestly do. But trust me, 'dumbass kids' is not actually the group you're flaming. The people you are considering dumbass kids are folks that have served the military, that have watched the economy go down the sh!itter, have watched our economy go from a 4.2 TRILLION dollar SURPLUS to a multi-billion dollar defiict. Not to mention the fact that, Puerto Rico is selling off US assets because the economy is sub-prime.

Puerto Rico, saying US assets are sub-prime. Classic.

Again, however...this is probably the wrong forum. It went from AoC flamebait to political flamebait, and should probably be moved.

And, to just get on a tangent, the topic should probably be moved, because...well, GWB convos > AoC. And there are a ton of heated opinions here:)

i figure you an educated person, we both know that education is shit in the us. We both knnow that media controls the country. Be serious, most us residents think russia invaded georgia, that is a lie and we know it. some still think the state of georgia was invaded, how sad is that. i rest my case, the us is a state of media zombies and there is no way it is going to change unless people like you and me speak up to tell the truth

Bah sorry to double post again but...actually we have a pretty good education, just everything else makes us stupid....so you're wrong there.

I don't know where you come from but if the us president says, i quote:

"this is the 21at century, you can not just invade a country, take the capital and remove the government"

I find that pretty, interesting, considering the what the US did. Don't you?

You seem to miss the bigger picture:

Bush actually LOST the first election. And the second election had 'electronic issues'.

So...yah, I can safely say, thank you Resident Bush. Where is my President Gore?

I amn't at all familiar with this game, but...

Wiping characters after a closed beta is commonplace. It's beta, not release.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

I'm so sick of hearing about WoW's release polish, bells and whistles, etc etc etc... Some of us were actually there when it went gold (and before) and remember being stuck on our knees until server reset (and later improved to relog before they finally fixed it), missing terrain, broken terrain (falling through the world loops what fun this was!), misfiring soulstones and the broken /stuck command, lost mail, busted classes, untouchable and missing pets, trainable elites, exploits galore (like fishing for purps anyone?), queues, missing content, missing features, server crashes, broken gear, broken abilities, broken skills, and plenty of bugs. Matter of fact WoW won't even be getting a single Hero class until Xmas-ish (just one even though Blizzard promised atleast one for each class but to be fair it is only a smidge after release date right?)

Some of my favourites:

  • The loot bug - awesomely fun: "Ok folks, let's just huddle around this raid mob on our knees...who here on Vent can sing?":)
  • Training bossmobs to Stormwind/elite ratpros to xroads/dragons to Org. Loved those 'sheep the elite on the elevator at 10k' mobs.
  • Item duping..and duping, and duping
  • Classes without their epic mounts
  • Being stuck in a raid - those random invites, then boots, and you were basically kept from entering another raid party because you accepted a party invite.
  • Becoming the bomb and hearthing to Org/Stormwind/IF
  • Getting the ZG cooties and doing the same

Ah...the memories.

These should probably be the only options in here. No matter what problems AoC has, it hasn't completely and totally sent this country into an downward economic and political spiral.

Still doesn't give me much of a clue as to why I can't reactivate my old sub:)

Darned sweet video:)

Some of the keep battles in all tiers were pretty darned fun and awesome...and visually intense.  Well done in capturing some of the play!

Recently I've had the urge to pop back into the AO world. Around 5 years ago, I had canceled my account with my beloved 178 advent on it.

So, I logged onto my master account...and found my status listed as BANNED  as of September 2003, and not canceled. Obviously, FC's stellar support mechanism (meaning, no response to 8 hojillion queries) leaves me somewhat befuddled. Mind you, it should be easy enough to start over again since I don't remember jack about how to play and that advent would be a disaster in the making. Regardless, I'm still a bit curious as to why a canceled account would be banned.

I'd heard that there were some problems with long-ago canceled subs being banned because of some changes made in game to items, long after those accounts went inactive....but I don't know specifics.

Thoughts? I can't even get their forums to recognize the *new* free account, let alone my old canceled one.
