STOP comparing AoC to WoW, they are two totaly different games. If you like WoW, play WoW. If you dont like WoW, stop bringing it up. FC product manager Erling Ellingsen already talked about this in an interview. He explains that AoC has no interest in copying world of warcraft and that FC is making a new and innovative game, not a clone. WoW II should be made by blizzard (someone forgot to tell the mythic warhammer team this).

If you want something fresh and innovated, that takes DAoC a step higher, I believe Age of Conan is the game to do this. If you want the sequel to world of warcraft that is a de-evolution of DAoC, I believe Warhammer is right for you. On a side note, I really have no faith in mythic, one of the big things that got me, after they killed the game off with poor content and stupidity was the login poll. The one in particular that asked if you would pay extra for some basic game features, IE: transfering your character off a dead server like mordred, and some other stuff that was a direct result of Mythics neglect of the game and killing it off. Such things that should have been done for free to keep the game alive. I dont know where Mythic got the nerve to ask players to make micro payments and still continue their monthly fee, the account split for 40$ and the cost of a new account with all the expansions enabled (another 50$) was rediculous enough on its own. As far as I'm concerned, Mythic could pull out the best game ever made (which they cant and wont) and I still wouldn't buy/play it just because the bastards are so greedy and selfish. |

Shadowbane is a sandbox style game. Max lvl is 75 and takes about a week for a new person to acheive. Everything in the world is player run, cities are built, payed for and run by the controling guild leader. Its a pretty huge world certain xp areas carved into basicaly a huge pvp battleground. Theres no objectives after you get to lvl 75, just join a guild or make one of your own, build a city or seige one. Your actions do forever change the face of the world, a true MMO. However I admit this game being 4 yrs old and having been started development 8 years ago, there are lag issues and graphics issues that are uncommon in newer mmos. Shadowbane has many flaws in its world but the concepts wolfpack created years ago have yet to be replicated in any mmo and are absolutely amazing and innovative. Best part you ask? Its FREE to download and its FREE to play! Thats right 100% FREE, Ubi soft is incorporating in game advertising, so you will see dell adds that other pay to play games are already adding and still charging subscriptions. |

PS is an MMOFPS, there are alot of facial options at creation, you even get to choose your voice type in game for quick voice commands. Many weapon choices and an awesome game, it doesn't have the imersion of a RPG mmo which is why it does not retain regular subscriptions but rather many station pass players and many players who activate for a month every few months. Also, WoW's world is very small, I dont know about now after the expansion. However When I played it held about 1,500 players and thats including dozens of instances that are just copy and pastes of the same zone, a shortcut as to not have to actualy build a true MMO world. MMO: Massively multiplayer online (game). How are 5-man instances massive in any way? how are lame 40v40 pvp instances that make no difference in the game world at all, except for benefiting individual players, massive? I dont "hate" wow, I dislike wow because its not fun, because its rather pointless and because on two different servers 99% of the people I meet in the game are complete idiots and typicaly little kids. Not even cool little kids, but rather the spoiled, selfish, sarcastic, stupid ones that think they own the world. If you have fun playing WoW thats awesome. I hope you enjoy it. I have played over 20 MMOs and wow is at the bottom of that list as far as fun and content for me, and at the very bottom as far as graphics and detail. This topic was titled "Why does everyone hate WoW" well, stop calling everyone that lists their reasons for disliking this game "haters". Thats the topic here. The game sucks imo, and take a look around. The MMO genre isn't WoW its sites like this one with 500k members and probably close to 1.5 mil regular viewers. Its not 2 million chineses farmers or 1 million spoiled american brats. Granted developers will try and take the market in that direction, because thats where the big bucks, east money is. However as long as that is the case, true MMO veterans and players and lover will all know something is forever lacking in the games that are made. IMO WoW should branch off and make its own market segment, SMBOG: sorta massive boring online game. Let the rest of us enjoy true MMOs that are about the people and the community in the game, about the giving back to the community, about devs actualy playing their own games, about devs showing up and hosting events or just chatting with the latest guild that conqured, or reassuring the guild that just got crushed that they can come back even stronger! A true MMO where hundreds of people can play together, not 5 or 20. |

So untrue. Planetside, Dark Age of Camelot and many others were quite finished when they were released. It was also a new concept for MMOs (granted it was a combination of failed mythic games, but thats just it, they were mythic games! not someone elses). DAoC was killed by its own expansions but thats a different story. As far as the genre goes, WoW has done nothing for the community, all it has done is stuff blizzards pockets. The MMO genre does not benefit from hundreds of thousands of 13 yr old idiots, nor does it benefit from hundreds of thousands, no millions . . . of chinese farmers. WoW had a very small, utterly tiny world compared to other games, their servers hold very small amounts of players compared to other games. WoW has brought copy and paste to a whole new level. Basicaly making dozens and dozens of servers to hold their small world and calling it an mmo. In addition to that, everything you do in the game is instances, 40 man instances, 5man instance 20v20 pvp. . . thats not an MMO thats a battfield 1942 server. A real MMO would be like old school DAoC, 500v500v500 RvR all within a few hundred yards of eachother fighting over a relic that does not server any one person but rather the winners realm as a whole. As far as microsoft goes, buy their stock cause they got a monoply, buy their games cause they rock, buy their xbox cause they lose money off of making it and than pirate the games for it, DO NOT buy their other products cause they are all flawed huge peices of crap, or if you must buy them, understand they are beta products for at least a year after they are released. And I suppose since its cool to hate the big kid (notice you see big kid, this post is obviously made by a little kid), I suppose that makes me cool to all the little 13 yr olds! sweet. |

Game companies should not keep your money, and there should deffenitly not be a blacklist of people for the mmo community. Why??? Because many people who are banned from games are not even the ones that were hacking, just trusted the wrong person with their acct. Perhaps their account was stolen. I spent 3 years playing mordred in DAoC where the stupidest and dumbest kids played the game, every single day there was a new person spamming profanity and the N word in broadcast trying to get an account banned that they didn't own. I'm not saying they didn't diserve it, some of them did, but many times it was the mature decent players they got screwed for trusting kids. What if you got banned because of a dispute with a representative of the company whos game you play, you diserve to lose money ontop of your acct and all your work because someone had a power trip? Trust me, it happens.
Ok now say it was you that got your own account banned, which happens often just as all the circumstances above happen often. Do you diserve your money back? Personaly I hate cheaters and hackers and I think they should be shot irl as it is my opinion that if you have to cheat in a video game, games where you respawn in 10 seconds and there is no way to even "win" the game, than they will be the type of people prone to violence and breaking serious laws irl where there are actual benefits for not following the rules. However, a couple dollar loss on a video game isn't going to hurt them, these game developers screw their customers at every chance they get to make a buck. Dont support it in any form, the fee increases, in-game advertising, locking you into subscriptions. fale advertising. (seems no one cares when you falsly advertise on the internet which is where most mmo marketing is done, half the MMO adds can be viewed as outright lies, the vast majority dont even use their in game graphics in their adds.)
So if you guys are saying, screw hackers, I support you. But if you are supporting MMO developers scamming every penny from their consumer that they can, screw that.
Here is an easy way to get your money back! Use a credit card and refuse payment, tell your CC company you want to dispute the claim of the charge and are willing to go to court, if a game developer is willing to spend thousands on legal fees for a few months subscriptions, well I say take one for the team and stand up to them. Let them know that we as consumers have rights, regarless of their EULAs and RoCs. Its us, the consumers that push this market forward, not fat executives trying to make their wallets as fat as they are.

How can people praise a game like WoW for being polished at launch? Its a cartoon game with very poor graphics. Its theme has been in production for countless years. Its concepts are old and used, taken from actualy good MMO games. All that was done was a blanket of horrible graphics over old concepts. Instancing was somewhat new though, I admit that. Blizzard was very smart. "Lets make instances so we can run 30 of the same zones at the same time instead of actualy making enough content so everyone can play in the same game!!". WoW was a terrible game at launch, the lack of bugs was due to the small world size and the lack of content they had. Good call all you WoW fanboys. The only reason wow was and is so popular is because a good 95% of their players are 13 yr olds or younger that have never played a "Real" MMO. You all can call me a WoW hater, I could care less. I had a helluva lot of fun in WoW cause I played with friends, as far as the game goes, it was boring and pointless. WoW was just another trash game recycling old concepts with new corner cutting concepts such as instancing. If you want to give kudos to Blizzard, it needs to go to their marketing team, not their dev team. |
