Nice of you guys to mention that the Beta code is restricted to N.-America. Especially since the official Requiem-site doesn't even mention this..... |

Hi Lagan, I'd be happy to help you anyway i can. I have 1 main, a 53 NE-Hunter and several alts; 1 is a 24 BE-Paladin (although she's on sabatical at the moment until further notice), 1 is a 18 Human Mage and 1 is a 17 NE-Rogue; all of them on Steamwheedle Cartel (also RP). So how do you want to do this and do you have a time-limit? 'Cause short-term i'm only available tonight. The rest of the week it's impossible for me to go online and as of sunday i'm on holiday until the 24th of juli. Just contact me here in the forum or mail me.
Kind regards Wudinna |

Is it laziness as you suggested? Absolutely not, there are technical factors which come into play when you develope a client that supports an all new Operating System, it's as simple as that. i said it is laziness not to up-date a post for 6 months when there has clearly been a change in the circumstances (vista being offically released in januari). And of course i know it takes time to develope a client that supports all new operating systems but you can at least asure people that you're working on it instead of leaving them in the dark. That would atleast be consumerfriendly. next to that, they've know about vista for nearly a year now.... You would expect them to have taken action by now.... Anyway, like the "posting and you"link |

Please start with this link ( to bad they removed al the replies to that one) https://secure-web5.secondlife.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=019 after they closed the thread and removed al the posts, they opened a new one https://secure-web5.secondlife.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=304 please look at the date on both pages.... Don't tell me that they stopped supporting Vista as of now, cause that is true. They have not supported Vista EVER. And since people are using Vista more and more, they WILL lose a lot of players. And i don't think there is a conspiracy, it's just bloody laziness and very cheap to not up-date a post for more than 6 months.....

They refuse to up-date to Vista for nearly a year now... don't think they will get round to it ever. Seems like they don't want players to use vista..... To bad they closed the thread "generic errors" or you'd see a LOT of angry posts dating back to august last year! They didn't want to help vista players then and i guess they still don't! me and a lot of other people tried to force them by refusing to play, but nothing helped. Their excuse was that they can't support an OS that is not officially released, but as we all know Vista is official since januari this year, 6 months ago....... |

So I looked it up, and SL doesn't support Vista. DOESN'T SUPPORT VISTA? All I can conclude is that they don't want people with computers good enough to run the game playing it and, thus, don't want my money. The first time this problem occured was in august 2006, after the first trail-release for vista. People (incl. me) were getting generic errors upon start-up. SL first said this was due to out-of-date drivers. But we all knew that was not the case. So i (and a lot of other people)posted a request for Linden corp to up-date their game to vista so even vista users could play. After a month or so nothing had changed and i posted an angry reply saying the lost 1 client and if more people would follow my example, maybe we could force Linden Corp. into action. After that 1 got tied up in WoW and lost track of the discussion. After another month or so i tried again. This time the thread was closed!! And al they had was a message saying they can't support a OS that is not for sale yet (this was about 2 months before the official release of Vista), although is was playing WoW and other games under Vista, no problem.) So, they still haven't gotten round to finding a solution... great going Linden Corp, you lazy *&%&^^%$&^%..... You're only in it for the money, nothing else! Not even interested in getting new players, only dumping the old ones! |

I'm a white collar worker and have time to play about 1 or 2 nights a week and if i'm lucky i get 1 or 2 full wekends to play WoW. The reason i play is that i want to get to level 70 on my own strenght! i love this game and working to make money to buy better gear is all part of the game for me. Just like in RL you work for you cash! Someone in our guild put it like this "real life is to much about image and WoW should not be like that. You play to escape RL not to get pulled back in". And if you can't be bothered to earn your own money or do your own grinding, ask yourself "why do i play this game?" Ofcourse it's hard to earn money when your lvl 20, but it all gets easier as you lvl and there is a very good add-on called auctioneer add-on that helps you set a good but reasonabe price for your stuff and keeps track of offer and demand. it also tells you if an object you want to buy is overpriced, so you can choose to buy or not. Quote Kyrelan: Also missing of course is any real discussion why most games are designed to reward people with more time on their hands (like WOW) to play them vs those who don't. (like GW's). The way i see it is that everyone get's the same reward; it's just that the person who plays more get's there faster... Quote Krumb: Now all I want is a filter for WOW.. stop those who are spamming 'WE selD golD!' ect, ect There is also a new add-on to block and report ingame spam and spam-whispers called SpamSentry. The only bug in this is that Blizz only let's you open 1 ticket at a time. Yesterday i had 4 of those messages in 10 mins and had 1 pending ticket. But i do think that you can't punish the people who buy the gold, but you can bann the people who sell and advertise in game, 'cause that is getting to be a real nuisance!

I check it about once every two weeks and it still says pending. I got the first email saying i would be part of the "second wave" and they expected that in the first week of januari i (we) would get more info. But that's almost two months ago (ok still after the first week of januari but well....) |

I tried to get this game going for about 2 months. Got my comp upgraded to the max and running Vista Beta, installed SL and upon start i got a "generic Error". So i tried the FAQ's and saw that people have been trying to get an answer from SL-crew since August (it was november by now). About a month later i tried again and still now noting had changed. So i sent an angry post about Linden-corp not being willing to help their clients and saying the they at least lost me and calle out for others to do the same, maybe trying to pressure Lindewn corp into taking action. A month later (the first time i was back since my post) i saw they closed the thread and all they said was they couldn't ajust to an SO that is not for sale yet.... But what about al the thousants of (probably a lot more though) people who used the Beta version of Vista????? they were being left in the cold?! I think this is just a crappy way of dealing with your customers and is (to me) a sign you only want to make loads of money with the least of effort!!! Loads of other games were playable with the beta-version, so why not SL. I think this cost them a lot of clients, at least i hope it did!!!! |

Oke, maybe not really the place, but i just have to get this of my chest! About 4 months ago i upgraded my pc to the max and installed Vista Beta. Everything worked so i thought "let's try this Second Life thing everyones talking about" So i installed it no problem.... that is until i wanted to run it and got a "generic error". So i tried the faq's and found out that everyone using vista had the same problem and the first user-question bout this was from August. The only thing SL had to say about this was that the video-drivers should be updated (my card was brand new and had all new drivers, so this was not the case!) A month later SL still hadn't done anything about it, so i posted an angry reply about SL apperently not wanting to service their customers and that they at least lost me as a client and called out to other to do the same and hopefully pressuring SL into taking action. About a month later (i hadn't been back since my last reply) a saw that clients weren't able to post anymore on the subject and SL refused to update their game claiming "not being able to adjust their game to a OS that was not available for purchase yet". So how come almost every MMorpg is playable on a OS that is not for sale yet, except SL. That to me is just a sign of lazyness, of not being willing to ajust to new situations, just like an old dog, you can't teach them new tricks. I myself refuse to play SL ever again and just stick to WoW, who even thought the mess up sometimes, always have a quick and new solution handy! |
