Everyone keeps calling this a stress test. Wasn't it an open beta before? Wierd how it BECAME a stress test after everyone logged in and it was performing horribly.  If they had said..hey run over to file planet and sign up for a chance to stress test an old outdated client...id still have my 8 bucks :P

Whats your point? Or are you just complaining about $8?

My point..is that ...I feel they thought the game would perform better than it has. When it performed miserably..suddenly it was a stress test. That was NEVER indicated before the beta started. they also never mentioned this whole "old build" nonsense before either.

Think about that, why would they mention something like that? UNLESS somethings happened and or they wanted to see how the old client would perform for some reason. Fact is there are many un answered questions (just like there always is with a new highly anitcipated game) that we will have to wait and see in order to get our answers.

well if you're gonna do a big promotion with fileplanet and invite 50k people as well as lift the nda i would think before hand you would say " look this isn't going to be pretty in fact its gonna be ugly" then people would understand. however they didn't say that because it was suppose to be a flawless showcase. what they're saying now about "oh its a stress test" yada yada is just damage control. its viral

Out of 50k people how many do you really think are playing?

They lifted the NDA for real? Where are all the player videos? All these flamers and no one is posting video to back up they're bitching and moaning?

I'll do better than ctr-alt-f ... when the servers come back online tonight, I will frap it at this resolution and get about 1 or 2 minutes of running, fighting and whatever so you can see how smooth this game really is if you know how to run a PC at its optimal level.

Awesome I would like to see that.

Hmmm I played the same game that you did, and there was no way I could play on high. Maybe in the very first area where you land on the beach but that's all. If you really ran around the city on high settings you would stutter horribly. My resolution wasn't even that high. I'm sorry but I really doubt you were playing on high settings. Just trying to keep it real.

lol

I run on the HIGH setting and my resolution is 1920X1200. It is a beautiful game. In fact, here are 2 screenshots at that resolution.

If you have the right machine, this game is graphically awesome. And the gameplay is great too.

VERY NICE!

I have played the game for two days now, and I know theres many of you that swear this game is great, and the problems are being caused by this or that, but I am done.  Performance is awful, Content is boring, and I don't know if its just me but I don't pay for MMOs when they are secretly single player games in disguise. "revolutionary combat" = you have too mash 3 buttons instead of 1. I mean COME ON are people accually gonna pay for this? As far as the graphics, people don't always understand that sometimes less is more. Loading times are terrible, I mean REAL bad. The games story isn't bad but thats the only thing I think the game has. Sorry for blabbing but I had to get it out.

It makes me mad that the people that still buy and subscribe to these unfinished, half arse games. It just allows different companies to release utter crap.

See ya in Warhammer, hopefully a game where someone gives a crap.

Your obviously a WAR fan....If you have made up your mind with in 2 days of BETA TESTING then YOU FAIL.

Why would anyone pre order a game and then cancel they're pre order when its still in testing? You knew it was in testing when you pre ordered it and clearly its gonna be buggy hence the "testing"

Fact of the matter is just like every MMO I have played from open and or beta tested over the course of the last 13 years, these games change so much with in the first 1-3 months of going live.  What doesn't change is the percentage of people that freak out pre release or with in the first week of going live and start shit talking a game. Most (not all) EXPERIENCED gamers/testers will agree 95% of the MMOs over the last decade were very buggy pre release. In addition to that, all games regardless or how old they are continue to release bug fix/patches every week. This isn't new to us (?)

Want my advise? relax... pay attention to the forums but don't take them to serious, I am sure we can all agree, some people like certain games or certain things about games that other people don't. This doesn't make a game bad.  Be patient, alot of people are to quick to voice they're opinion because thats what the internet enables us to do (that or they have the attention span of a 5 year old). Wait for its release, try it out and make your own mind up. You can obviously afford to or you wouldn't have paid extra for the pre order to begin with.

I'm shocked any girls would be playing this game at all, its just a very manly game in general.

Who defines what is too manly for women to play and what isn't? Seriously, as a social psychology student I'd like to know the answer. How would you define 'manly' anyway, and why? It'd really help me with my thesis - thanks.

I would say the retail industry and some if the entertainment industry determine what is considered "manly". This would be done through marketing via a sterio typical blue print of what has worked in the past when trying to appeal to a certain sex and or demographic.

So we have established a few things here as to what people THINK, is anyone following topics on official forums or Euro forums? Are they also sitting around bashing the game on un official forums?

I think the whole fact that there are nipples in game is good enough to not play AoC. I hoped MMORPG will stay clean from such a silly marketting attempts to get interests from kids that never had a real sex yet.

Right, cutting off heads is a lot cleaner and by far less a silly marketing attempt than including body details.

I actually meant that as well. The whole Mature Rating is one big joke and it's an apparent attempt to lure kids into game.

Although the ingame content should not come as any surprise to anyone after all it is a company trying to make money off us the consumers, I do agree with the Mature Rating being a joke. I really wish they would do something about enforcing the "law" (?) I mean what is the point in having a rating system if your not going stand behind it. UNLESS like previously mentioned it is in fact nothing more then a marketing ploy to attract under age consumers.

So does anyone know if those of us (not in beta) but did get into the beta pvp weekend will have to uninstall THAT client?

Each time I log in, it says there was an error trying to download a patch. (although it did originaly patch up just fine, to that point)

I see this as a filter.

Some people have no buisness running groups or directing PvP. Just because they want to doesn't mean they are able.

Hence I'd rather follow a guy who's blood drunk mad about doing PvP, and knows his stuff, then to follow some nitwit who just logged on the game decides to start a PVP group without knowing what he/she is doing.

So to see this feature. I am all for it. though i'd like to see if the system works for those who have little time to play vs those that do. If a player only has 10 hours to play a week, but has high PvP rating fine, he should get his stance in line bumped just as some one who plays 80 hours and has simular rated statistics.

Although I agree with you, the reality of a MMO is if your paying $15/month you have as much business as anyone to do what ever you want (with out violating the eula) even if that is leading a group in pvp and not knowing what your doing. In which case I think the followers would be at fault for not recognizing the noobs lack of ability

No offense OP, but this post seems to be a little silly. If you want to LEAD a siege, you SHOULD be a badass battle commander. And in order to be a badass battle commander, you would've had to proven yourself in actual combat.

Pvp mini games are NOT actual combat and anyone that knows anything about pvp will tell you world pvp and staged pvp are nothing alike. Further more there is absolutly no comparison to sieging and pvp mini games.

Why are pvp mini games and sieging even associated that doesn't make alot of sense... Clearly everyone taking part in a siege isn't going to be a pvp guru.

If you simply want to play the game before anyone else then preorder.  Don't waste a testing slot simply due to impatience.

Agreed and in addition, what kind of testing qaulity would a person in a hurry to just play have to offer. There is a certain responsiblity that is commonly over looked when it comes to beta testing, these people are testing... They are not there to hurry into a game, make rash decisions and short hand opinions of it and then talk $hit about it because it didn't meet they're expectations.

Months ago, I picked Vanguard for $19.95 at a GameStop / EB Games retail store and it was not on-sale, used, clearance or anything special that I could tell. They had two on the shelf and, I am assuming, that since they were not selling and they needed the shelf space (for other products that actually sell) they just lowered the price hoping it would move. Places like BestBuy, Target or On-line stores, places with lots of shelf space, probably still have Vanguard for $49.

Yeah Vanguard is kind of different in that i still see various prices for it.  At Gogamer right now its $19.90 (reg edition), at Amazon its $29.99 and Walmart Its $49.

They should be paying me to play VG
